Great Weekend Retreat
Beach View, Big Balcony and Cute Cottage

I booked Chema's after having searched through Agoda. It seemed good value for money for a mid range resort in Samal Island. Having been to the island a week before for a day trip (Precious Resort), I knew for a one night stay we wanted something more. I took a friend from Europe who was visiting. The boat there took 10mins from Insular hotel Jetty and was V efficient when we called them, (200 pesos each way but didn't mind that price for personalized boat taxi). The cottage was beautiful that we stayed in (cost 4800), right by the beach 20m back from the water. I loved the classic design of the cottage - timeless looking with lots of light coming in and quite romantic. Balcony was great to as could sit, eat and drink and watch the ocean amidst the greenery. Resort provides your bare essentials - nothing to flash in terms of entertainment etc. Staff there always on hand to serve you. Beach is small but well maintained which makes a big difference. Happy to see pictures lived up to expectation as well! Will definitely return for a relaxing retreat to that cottage. Good weather helped to obviously.

BEAUTIFUL & WELL MAINTAINED GARDENS

We were picked up by the resort's boat promptly from the Davao Insular Jetty. The resort was as beautiful as the pictures on the website. It was very quiet on our first night as we were the only guests in the resort. Meals were priced reasonably and portions were adequate. The best part was the refreshing atmosphere present while surrounded by well maintained gardens and the small beach area was perfect to relax in and enjoy the stunning views of Davao Gulf.
I booked a private island tour on an airconditioned vehicle. It was well worth our time and the price we paid to visit the Bat Caves, Hagimit Falls and Maxima Resort. Highly recommended for anyone going to Samal Island to visit these sites.

Perfect Family Getaway

I would say this was one of the best vacations we ever had. It may not be as awesome as the other resorts that we have been to but the friendly and attentive staff was more than enough to compensate for whatever amenities they lacked. We had our own butler who was always ready to assist us every time we rang the bell. The pool was located under a huge tree so you can swim anytime without fear of getting burned. The cabana where we were billeted was Thai-inspired and a day bed was provided at the veranda together with a dining table. The beach front was not that wide, though. The food selection on the menu was not that varied but they were cheap and delicious. As soon as we woke up, a pitcher of cold drinking water was already available on our dining table. We were able to meet the owner on our last day. He was nice and friendly. And by the way, we arrived at the resort early in the morning and the owner was gracious enough to accommodate our request to be allowed to check in earlier than the allowed time.

i really appreciate that they maintained the beach to have very minimal seaweeds and rocks and that, one can clearly see that the beach floor is carpeted with white sand and as reflected by the very pale green-colored water.

Lush setting with helpful staff and saltwater pool

Clean and modern bathrooms, charming garden setting and pleasant small white sand beach are nice for a couple of nights to rest and explore Samal Island. The only problem was the 4 guests in the cabana next door were up talking all night on their veranda and kept us from sleeping. Nice breakfasts and simple but good food.
Reiseempfehlung:
Allow time to transfer over by boat from the Davao Insular Waterfront Hotel as it takes about 20 minutes

Family of 3, w/ a 4 Y old girl. We've stayed 6 nights in Chema's. We were very happy with the choice. Pleasant and nice room, w big size bed, tidy toilet and a great porch (overlooking beach Seaview) every time. Flat TV set in the room and wireless Internet acess (not stable all the time in Philippines! )
We had a nice impression about the resot's proprietor, who friendly welcomed us and treat us drinks on arrival. Small but beautiful little beach
(Kind of private) safe and joyful for toddlers. Sea water swimming pool with great views over Samal strait.
Great place to rest and un-wind. And forget outside world or wrist watch and stress big city life (I..e. what were looking). Staff friendly, helpful and simple.
Overall pleased with this choice.

Perfect placeto stay if you're with your family...So peaceful and quiet... no loud noise at night and even on day time.Jazz and blues music are being played all daywhich makes it more relaxing and stress free.
Empfehlung zum Hotel:
