Pod beds are the best!”

Pod bed, Privacy and Cleanliness

I really enjoyed my stay at BACKPACKER MYANMAR HOSTEL. The staff is very friendly and speak good English. They are ever willing to help out with directions. The pod beds with roll down blinds and personal light and plug offers privacy and comfort. Unlike normal hostel bunk beds, you have your own space and privacy. You can stay up late to read or come home late without disturbing others. There is a spacious cupboard with a lock to store your belongings. its location is also very central to Chinatown, Central Railway Station, Colonial buildings and about 20 mins to Shwedagon Pagoda. They also provide light breakfast of prepacked buns and instant tea/coffee. Free water is provided and wifi is very good. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel.

Comfy and relaxing hostel”

Good central location, friendly and helpful staff as well as being nice and comfortable (although it was compact. Also offers beautiful views over Yangon from the balcony.

I had an extremely pleasant and enjoyable stay at Backpacker Myanmar Histel. Staff were helpful and knowledgable plus Simon at reception was as welcoming as can be. Another plus was super fast WiFi which is hard to come by in Myanmar. If you want a comfortable and laid back vibe while visiting Yangon, you'll struggle to find somewhere better.

You'll just sleep anyway...”

Location is good - adjacent to places of interest, place is clean and well-kept.. The staff are very accomodating!

I've been walking the entire day in Yangon going to the different temples, so I decided to just take BACKPACKER MYANMAR HOSTEL - and was pleasantly surprised. For the cost I've paid, I got a pretty decent pod, the toilets are clean, the staff are very friendly... And they'd served me breakfast... Good choice!

The Best Location!”

This is a great hostel in an amazing location. There are only a few things I can think to mention is that there is not really a social area. There is an area where you can sit on the hard floor, but you are right next to people's casules so you have to be very quite and it is not comfortable. Also it is a nusciance to take your shoes off outside the door before you come in. It is dirty out there because Burmese spit all over the floors, so it is quite disgusting but they will not allow you in unless you are competely barefeet. Finally, the staff often plays their music on their phone with no headphone so it can be annoying if you want to relax in the middle of the day. At night they are very respectful. Only other thing is that it is on the 9th floor and the elevator does not always work and power sometimes goes out in Myanmar. However, I still think it would be hard to beat this place!

Welcome to Myanmar”

the staff, cleanliness, cozy pods

We had a great time at the Backpacker Myanmar Hostel. The hostel is well located with many places of interest within walking distance. The staff is very helpful, especially Simon, who is knowledgeable about travelling in Myanmar. The place is very clean, the bunk beds (pods) are comfortable, can be closed off with a curtain and have big lockers underneath. The only drawback is that all of them and the reception desk are in one room. The showers had hot water and decent water pressure. The internet worked most of the time and was reasonably fast unless too many people were using it at once. The included breakfast is more of a snack.

Yangon hasn't got a lot of cheaper priced accomodation so Myanmar Backpackers is the best option. The manager Simon is very helpful along with his staff, always willing to give you information and advice.

Superb Staff”

Staff, privacy, location

The staff here are unbelievable! Some of the best people I've come across. They are kind and friendly and ready to assist you in any way they can. They are resourceful and have a brilliant command on English so communicating is easy. The beds/pods are comfortable and clean. The pods face into the reception as the hostel is really one big open room which can get quite noisy. Still a great value for money in Yangon and nice way to meet other travellers.

Exactly what you'd expect from a backpacker hostel”

service, location, great place to meet other travelers

there are no surprises at this place. You have to pay to borrow a towel, and all they provide in terms of food is instant mix coffe/tea and packaged pastries. The place is in a perfect location on Pansodan St near the train station and in walking distance to all the downtown attractions in Yangon. The staff is really friendly: - The guy who chews betel leaf (sorry, forgot his name) helped me to book a bus ticket to Chaung Tha beach... He made commission, and so did I! lol! I don't know why, but it happened! Haha - when I decided to leave Yangon for Chaung Tha/Ngwe Saung, they allowed me to change my dates without any issue. I didn't have to pay anything extra for this service. Downside: The bathrooms smell a bit. The showers are in the same tiny box as the toilet, so expect to have a sauna every time you go to the loo. But I suppose this is normal in Asia.

A really nice place. Very very clean. I've never stayed in a hotel this price that is this clean. Decent location. Near the train and downtown. Lots of street food and restaurants around it. The staff are amazing. Helped us book buses to other places and have great advice. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice and warm staff”

warm staff, big enough capsule beds, free tea

I would say it is a typical warm and friendly hostel. The staff speak good English and are always willing to smile and answer queries. I booked my bus ticket from Yangon to Bagan with them and everything was fine. It's located in front of a local restaurant which is adjacent to a Japanese restaurant so grabbing something to eat wouldn't be a problem. There's also a nearby convenience store. It is a short walk to the train station and a quick taxi ride to the main attractions including Shwedagon Pagoda. Since the reception directly faces the capsule beds, it can get really noisy during the day. However at night starting around 10pm they make sure that sounds are kept to minimal and the main lights are turned off. Each capsule beds comes with lamp, power sockets, and safe with lock.

The employees, Location , Privacy

I was backpacking at Yangoon, it was a good cheap option. The employees were very friendly and helped me with many information. There were plenty of taxi cabs in front of the hostel. So, the transportation was really easy. Unlike other hostels it was POD style so there was more privacy. Overall it was a good stay for me.

Surprised by the Pods”

This hostel was okay. It was a surprise when we arrived. Expecting to arrive to a room with 4 beds for our friends and my partner and I. Instead we all had our own pods in one big room. There was no mention of pods anywhere on the booking or site. Instead it was listed in rooms and dorms instead of pod or bed. It was a surprise nonetheless. A little loud since there's so many pods in one room with the bathroom right there. I'm sure there is confusion often. There should be a little more description about this hostel. If we would have known we would have chosen otherwise.
