Great place, but needs more efforts in particular in the restaurant”
Winter nights are cold in Kalaw. Why is there nothing to warm up the bathroom? We got an inefficient heater after asking only. The room was very nice. The fireplace created a good atmosphere and warmth in the evening. The restaurant was a shame. Amara was our most expensive accomodation in Myanmar and the breakfast was certainly the worst. Imagine you enter a very cold room. Nobody lighted the fireplace in the breakfast room. Coffee and tea were thin. Myanmar produces great coffee, theirs just tasted cheap. The worst were the eggs: half fried, still glibbery and served on an icy plate, meaning they were cold at once: quite disgusting. Cereals were only given to me when I asked for them. The cornflakes tasted very old, the "muesli" announced on the website was out. ..... In this lousy place called a restaurant they charge 20 US dollars for a pizza! In Kalaw you eat a great Indian dinner for 5 dollar, this in ludes a beer!!

Lovely place ”
We thought it would be fun to stay at an old British Hill Station and we were not disappointed. The place is lovely and felt as if we were being treated like British royalty! The GM seemed new and was still learning about the hotel and about Kalaw but this did not hinder our opinion of the place!

Unfortunately our room was not well maintained, and the walls of the bathroom and partially of the bedroom were scarped because of the humidity

Relaxing and Quiet. Location is away from town, so a 30 minute walk or 5 minute car ride away from restaurants etc. Lovely gardens.

Peaceful hotel ”
we stayed for one night. quiet place to be, big bed, big room, all kinds lemon shampoo and shower gel. european breakfast is good, with nespresso machine! walking distance (20 min) from kalaw. wooden floor upstairs could be a little bit noisy if you're staying downstairs.

Very well manicured property”
Amara Mountain Resort was a very relaxing place to lay our heads after our day trips into the mountains/caves. The food was great and the general manager Alex was very helpful with arranging everything for us at fair prices. Try the pizza, only place around that imports real mozzarella and if you're in central Myanmar, it's likely you haven't seen or heard of pizza for a while!

Habitación realmente cómoda, hotel a 1 km. aprox del centro de Kalaw. Posibilidad de contratar trek desde propio hotel, algo más caro,pero mejor que el estándar(cocinero propio, buen guía aunque). Resto de instancia es muy básicas aunque todo nuevo y limpio.

Es handelt sich um ein sehr schön gelegenes, stilvolles Hotel mit grossem Garten, man/frau kann abends dort essen, es wird Feuer gemacht... sehr stimmungsvoll. Gut für mehr als eine Nacht!

Net of je in een mooie Britse B & B bent beland”
Mooi hotel dat aanvoelt als B & B. De tuin is ronduit schitterend, een verademing in vergelijking met het stadje Kalaw zelf dat weinig charme uitstraalt. Perfecte ontvangst, de service is goed, de kamers gezellig en voorzien van alle comfort. Twee minpuntjes: 1) Het gebouw waar wij in sliepen is hoofdzakelijk uit hout gebouwd, bijgevolg hoor je wel veel lawaai en gekraak vanuit de andere kamers. 2) De prijzen voor eten en drank zijn te hoog. Reken op europese prijzen!
