“Memorable Stay”
I stayed at Amaris Hotel Embong Malang, Surabaya, for two nights, from July 14 to 16, 2025, and chose the Smart Room Queen Bed with breakfast included. The main reason for my stay at this hotel was its strategic location in the center of Surabaya, making it easy for me to reach several important agendas I had during my time in the city. My two main agendas were: 1. Attending a lecturer selection at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) Campus 2, which required preparation and calm during the selection process. 2. A health check-up at RSPAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya as part of the selection process for prospective lecturers at Hang Tuah University Surabaya. The location of Amaris Embong Malang greatly supported my mobility during my time in Surabaya. It is not far from transportation hubs and public facilities such as bus stops, minimarkets, dining places, and is also within reach of online motorcycle taxis and private vehicles to the campus and the hospital. Impressions of the Stay Upon arriving at the hotel, the check-in process was quite quick and efficient. The hotel staff were friendly and polite. I was placed in a Smart Room with a Queen bed, suitable for one or two persons. The room was minimalist, in line with Amaris hotel standards, yet remained clean and comfortable. The mattress was soft, the lighting adequate, and the air conditioning worked well. Room facilities included: Flat-screen TV Personal safe Small work desk Complimentary mineral water Towels and standard toiletries Every morning, I enjoyed the breakfast provided by the hotel. For a budget hotel, the breakfast menu options were quite varied, with decent taste. Local food options such as fried rice, fried noodles, chicken porridge, as well as bread, porridge mania, fruit, coffee, and tea were available. Breakfast was served on the M floor, the dining area not too large but quite comfortable. A Special Moment The most memorable part of my stay was on July 15, 2025, coinciding with my birthday. On that day, I received a personal birthday surprise in my hotel room. This moment was very special and memorable as it came amid my busy schedule of the selection process and health check-up. The simple surprise in the hotel room served as a reminder that, amidst the pressure and hectic schedule, I could still celebrate life and experience meaningful little joys. Drawbacks Although my overall experience was quite satisfying, there was one drawback that I felt significantly, which was the bathroom facilities. The water flow from the shower in the bathroom felt a bit weak, making showering somewhat uncomfortable, especially when I felt very tired and wanted to clean up quickly. I believe the hotel management needs to pay attention to and improve the water pressure in some rooms for optimal performance. Conclusion Staying at Amaris Hotel Embong Malang was a fairly appropriate choice for me during my time in Surabaya, especially for practicality and time efficiency reasons. This hotel is suitable for guests needing a stopover in a strategic location, with friendly prices and a calm atmosphere. Even though there was a drawback with the shower water flow, I still felt comfortable and grateful to have chosen this place to rest and celebrate my special moment.
