VERY helpful staff”
What a warm welcome after a LONG drive from Pokhara. We arrived late, but they were there to welcome us with tea. We had to leave very early to make it to the airport, and they got up, carried all our bags to pack the taxi, and packed us a breakfast. Plus the rooms were gorgeous!

Excellent stay”
This was our first time visiting Kathmandu and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice of Hotel. We stayed at Ambassador Garden Home for total of seven nights. Mr. Bicky and his entire team were extremely kind and helpful; meeting every single of our needs. They were very accommodating. My flight arrived into Kathmandu at 2:00 am in the morning and they were kind enough to let me check in early. We had Breakfast and lunch and they were always very delicious. The hotel is right in the heart of thamel, with great restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Even with the hotel being in such a busy area, once we were inside, we escaped all noises and it was always peaceful. We will be back very soon.

Service Comfort Location”
Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Thamel without ever realising you were right in the heart of Thamel. Beautiful decor, very comfortable rooms, but the best part about this hotel are the staff. From now on whenever I'm in ktm I'm going to Ambassador Garden Home.

Great hotel with lovely rooms, comfortable bed and very hot showers. The staff were amazing in making us feel at home and we loved the tranquility of the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and a great pot of coffee to go with.

it's a fantastic place. Tucked away from the busy Thamal. Central yet quiet. The breakfast that's included is very generous and delicious.

An oasis in the heart of Thamel”
Lovely (albeit short) stay at the Ambassador Garden Home: great location, exquisite staff, peaceful little garden to relax in along with a large, comfy and mostly clean room. Would gladly stay again next time I’m around!

Tired and overpriced”
I stayed here 10 years ago and rated AGH 5 stars but this time was disappointed to see how run down it is. I chose a super deluxe room but there were so many issues - loose fitting electrical sockets where my charger kept falling out, bedside lamp switch sparking and fizzing when touched, lose tap fittings not properly attached to the wall or porcelain and wobbling around, shower head not able to be fixed to wall and having to be hand-held, a/c remote not responsive… when I told reception they said they’d fix the problems but I was only staying one night so no use to me. They also said they’re about to knock down the building and build a new one, so I can’t see them bothering to make repairs . It’s a shame as it has so much character and charm, the staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was good.

Too noisy”
The room was directly above the bar, impossible top sleep until 2 am

Whoever in the reception should be little bit smart.”
There is no doubt about dress of staff .they look smart as they were wearing dress like old kings and prime minister of previous Nepal. They welcomed us like members of their palace. However they act like foolishness and lazy . We stayed there for 3days and we were unaware about breakfast included in our booking .on the last day during checkout,we found out that breakfast was included in our booking. They even don’t tried to ask about breakfast during our 3night stay . When i talked About this, they tried to lie with me with good excuses. On the hand, room was nice with all essential kits for tourists like us which is impressive.

Friendliest Hotel in kathmandu”
I was lucky enough to spend a four days at the Ambassador Garden Home in Thamel in Kathmandu, I had hundreds to choose from, and I feel lucky to have chosen the Ambassador Garden Home . This was a wonderful experience, it felt like I was staying with long time friends and I was made so welcome that it made my holiday. All my trips were organised by Nobi, my guide Diwaker was first class and new all the history of kathmandu, Laloo the driver was superb on the narrow steep mountain roads, Krishna had tea for me when I came back and Prakash was a star, when my camera was not working, he gave me his till mine was eventually fixed. What can you say to such marvellous hospitality and care. This is a Hotel for everyone. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the comfortable lounge area is full of family history, photographs and antiques from their grandfather's, who was an Ambassador for Nepal, own home. This hotel had a tranquil garden which in the middle of Thamel is a welcome retreat. I can recommend the Ambassador Garden Home, especially, to those who would appreciate the care and attention paid to guests.

Comfortable hotel in busy Thamel”
We stayed at the Ambassador Garden Home for two nights at the end of a two week tour of India and Nepal and found the majority previous reviews to be very accurate. Thamel is a very touristy and busy area which is both a blessing and a curse. Plenty of restaurants / internet cafes / taxis etc at your door step is a plus. Plenty of hawkers / hash peddlers / noise etc not so good. Kathmandu in general is a very noisy, busy and dirty place and I wouldn't recommend dwelling there for longer than necessary but staying at the AGH definitely helped alleviate any environmental stress endured. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist in anyway especially when I was struck down with the dreaded and almost inevitable "Delhi belly" . Breakfast is lovely and served in the eponymous garden which is a great place to chill with a cool drink whilst recouping for another assault on the Kathmandu sights. There is a supermarket opposite the hotel for any snacks or self catering needs which is very convenient. Room was tasteful and modern with a comfy bed and very hot water in the clean shower. The only two small downsides were the TV had only 3 local channels which is pretty useless (a bit of BBC world news or a movie channel is always a nice way to wind down at the end of the day.) and the rooms can get quite cold at night. This was counteracted by a sweet touch of AGH by providing hot water bottles at night. I loved this when I was riding the porcelain bus during the night. They also provide free internet access which was much appreciated. All in all Ambassador Garden Home is a class act that is successfully providing a quality, mid-priced boutique hotel experience and we were very satisfied with our pleasant stay.

My home away from home”
I stay at Ambassador Garden Home each time I travel to Kathmandu. On my earlier trips to Nepal I stayed elsewhere, but now I wouldn't think to stay anywhere else. The staff are all incredibly helpful and accommodating, and as a young female travelling on my own, I know they always look out for me. On each of my stays the internet has always been reliable and fast. AGH is located in central Thamel, surrounded by shops, restaurants and pubs. Most major Kathmandu attractions are only a short, but very interesting drive from AGH. They can help with arranging transport (air and road) to anywhere in Nepal, and can arrange all day activities, treks, etc. during your stay. I would recommend AGH to any traveller planning to visit Kathmandu - you wont be disappointed.

this is your home”
For my first stay in Kathmandu, I stayed 5 nights at Agh with my female friend. We looked for a clean and safe hotel, but obviously we got more than that--convienience, tranquility and heart-warming experiences. We arrived in midnight, and seeing our exhaust the owner let us go to bed before our check-in. The next morning we were surprised to see the great interior-- chic and bright! Our room had warm lighting, hemp blindshades by the window, from where we can see the beautiful, well-maitained garden. I loved the antique metal door locks matching black painted doors. Agh is located in a quiet corner in Thamel, the tourist area. Here there is no need to concern about finding good restaurants. There is a supermarket in front of the hotel which is open until late night, the biggest book store in the area is on the same street. Some other reviewers have claimed noise from a nearby night club, but we didnt have problems sleeping. In Thamel there are many clubs so I assume the noise is inevitable. In fact, Agh does not face the road so traffic noises were rather reliefed. Since this hotel has only 18 rooms, we got to know everybody working here, and every staff was professional with great hospitality and charming personality. The manager especially took good care of us, he called taxis and booked flight and bus tickets for us. Everything reserved by him turned out to be great. We enjoyed Kathmandu so much we often "got home" late, but the gate was guarded so it was safe, and we could find our keys kept on a table. Our delighting stay at Agh had absolutely enriched our experiences at Kathmandu. We hope to be back again.

An oasis and the friendliest staff in Nepal”
We came in and out of Kathmandu several times, and stayed at 3 different hotels. Ambassador Garden Hotel was our favourite by far. A true Boutique Hotel, it has family heritage items on display, and lovely B & W photos. The room was compact, but just so cosy, and little touches meant a lot to the weary traveller! (Fruit basket, complimentary- yes complimentary mini bar). The courtyard and eating area is just so peaceful and relaxing, that it was a nice oasis to come in form the hustle and bustle of Thamel. Books and magazines to read , baskets of candy in the lobby, and computers to use. The staff seems so relaxed and friendly, and the breakfast was beautifully cooked. Definitely recommend., and offered much more than we expected for the price.

Very pleasant hotel with wonderful staff”
we had a very wonderful time in ambassador, the staff was very pleasant and smiley, breakfast was good and very enjoyable in the nice garden behind the house. of course the hotel is right in the middle of kathmandu thamel so still noisy at night (till midnight), mostly during deepavali ! we had a room on the street the first night and that was a bit too noisy (again it was nepali's new year so do not know how it is generally), but the staff was very accommodating and moved us to a garden room from the second night, it was very pleasant and so comfortable ! we really loved our stay there. the manager is very friendly and was always here to greet us for breakfast.. just feels like a gorgeous & comfortable home in the middle of the busy thamel. very appreciable.

Comfly little hotel”
We enjoyed our stay in Ambassador garden home very much. The staff were absolutely helpful and friendly. They upgrade our room for the first night which is nice but actually adding extra hassle that we don't need as we have to move to another room the next early morning when all we need is just dozing off. The breakfast is nice however a little bit too dry as they fried everything with full strength. my advice just pick any breakfast that doesn't include frying. We stayed for the second time in this hotel because we like it. However the price is a bit steep compared to the other nice hotel in the area. the good thing is this hotel does not feels like a hotel, instead it is a home, and you can rest just like at home. the room is shady and comfy makes you doesn't feel like staying in an industrial hotel. The hotel staff was friendly enough to let us check out late on our second stay due to our flight from pokhara to Kathmandu got cancelled due to bad weather. the hotel was not flexible enough to allow us to stay until 9 pm when we were only arrived at 12 PM on the day we were supposed to check out already, however they allowed us to stay until 4 pm which was nice, given that we had already pay the full amount upfront one week before. A little bit disappointing, but that's fine.

Home away from Home”
We recently stayed at the Ambassador Garden Home and enjoyed excellent service and a wonderful "home away from home." We especially enjoyed the staff in the dining area and the reception staff that were always friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great. This is a good place that is right in the middle of everything (Thamel), but still gives you a break from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Especially nice was 24 hour electricity (lots of hot water) and free Wi-Fi which are not "givens" when visiting Nepal.
