Another lovely stay”
We've stayed at Aria Boutique and Hotel Spa three times now, and each time, the staff is very friendly and the room has been spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast menu has several options, all of them delicious, and the hotel's location on the edge of Thamel is far enough away from the bars and nightlife that it's not noisy at night, yet only a few minutes walk away from the center of Thamel. The only small suggestion I have is to do some maintenance and upkeep on the gym equipment (oiling weight machines and making sure the treadmill is working).

I didn't expect to get such an experience for a reasonable price. Once entered, I saw that unusual interior, all the lights and decorations, and I got attracted) The hotel has kind of it’s own unique style. ‘Executive king bed’ is really big, has 2 rooms. Warm enough for the wintertime in Kathmandu. Bed is a great comfort, which has always been important for me. Hot water and electricity is 24/7 – not very common for Nepal as far as I understood. The bathtub is really huge, feels like I’m in a mini-swimming pool) Restaurant has an extensive menu, but I couldn’t try everything cause they’ve just opened and still working on dishes. Although what I’ve tried is very tasty. The hotel has just been renovated, so it’s all brand-new, full of colour and enthusiasm). Yeah, and the most important – it is absolutely smoking-free! So you can stay with your children and don’t ever worry for them to be passive smokers. I’m really tired of ‘fights’ with smoking-addicted people while I travel. The roof-top park with swing chairs is cute. You’ll like it to sit there by the pond with a book. By the way, hotel has truly good lights, comfy for readingin the evening time. The gym is not really big, but new, functional and very clean, I couldn't find such a gym before in Thamel area. The stuff is very friendly and nice.

A convenient place to stay in Thamel”
We booked a penthouse in Aria Boutique Hotel & Spa but when we checked in, we were told to go to Royal Penguin Boutique Hotel & Spa. There was no clear explanation. We were just accompanied to go there. It was a few blocks away. Then, we were told that they upgraded our room, from penthouse to junior suite. We didn't know how to react. The penthouse, based on the photos, looked better than the junior suite. Anyway, we accepted the arrangements since we had no other choice. The staff at Royal Penguin were polite, helpful, and very supportive to our needs. The premium WiFi that was included in our booking was spotty and the cable channel, most of the time, had no signal. The heater in the shower took a long while to work, giving us some inconvenience. Breakfast was ala carte and we had the option to have it served in our room. The transfer rates from airport to hotel (vice versa) was double the usual price and the tour packages were also unreasonable. Location was great.

Great boutique hotel - friendly staff”
This hotel was just amazing. Our room was well presented and very comfortable. Hotel staff were helpful, friendly and very attentive. Check-in procedure was performed with quiet efficiency. Even though Thai Air had managed to lose our luggage on the non-stop flight from Bangkok (a common occurrence, apparently), the hotel duty manager and her staff went out of their way to assist us when we arrived with, quite literally, only the clothes on our backs. In a very short time, the hotel staff had managed to assist us with lost luggage claims to Thai Air, taken us to various shopping areas to purchase emergency clothing and shoes, and found compatible phone battery charges that we could use. The hotel restaurant provides a good selection of food and drinks. The power blackouts for which Kathmandu is infamous were not a problem as the Royal Penguin Hotel has its own back-up generator. All in all, this is a great little oasis in the chaos of the Thamel area. We would recommend this hotel to any planning a trip to Nepal.

The Aria Hotel has a convenient location with lots of shopping near by and walking distance to Durbar Square. The stuff is outstanding and always trying to help on making your stay the best possible experience. The food is great and has a wide variety of international cuisine. Rooms are clean and equipped with all the needs to make it a pleasant stay. We had a great time during our 3 days in Kathmandu and would highly recommend the Aria Hotel. Thanks again!!!

Have stayed at Royal Penguin Boutique Hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is new and cozy with small but very well equipped gym, sauna and even beauty parlor. I have stayed at the Deluxe room - perfect size for one person. Super Deluxe is a bit bigger that Deluxe, but it has two single beds, so if you're looking for one big bed then either Deluxe or Executive Suite (and/or Penthouse suite) are your options. I have been traveling through Asia for last 18 months and can say that the level of customer service at Royal Penguin is outstanding and can put most of 5 star luxury resorts to shame :) Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and stay again when am back to Kathmandu.

Quirky, Centrally located Boutique Hotel”
The Royal Penguin Boutique Hotel is in a perfect location for those wishing to visit Thamel. Local tourist attractions are in easy access. Staff at the hotel were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was good, with a good selection from the menu. Staying in the Penthouse suite is definitely to be recommended, especially with its roof access - be mindful that the hotel has no lift! Would definitely stay here again if visiting Thamel.

my last days after a two months and a half trip around india and nepal were in a very comfortable hotel with very clean and modern rooms. the service was very good, and the location in thamel area was the best for me: beside a touristic area with clothes, handicrafts, music, etc., but very silent place, and one step to the way to durbar square. inside, smoking is not allowed in all the hotel, spa with sauna and gymnasium, and "low voice areas". great. wifi in all rooms and in common areas. restaurant has too hight prices. highly recommendable.

We stayed for 6 nights at this hotel. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking from hotel to other locations on Thamel. The staff at this hotels are extremely friendly nd helpful. They are a real asset to this hotel. The room is very clean and has everything you need, the internet in the room was quite fast. The power goes off in Thamel just about everyday, but the hotel has a generator that kicks straight in when this happens, so you hardly notice. The only thing that was a little unusual is that you turn the hot water on and it can take 5 to 10 minutes to come through, but this is clearly noted in the bathroom, so that you are aware before taking a shower. It really didn't inconvenience us, we just turned the water in before getting your clothes ready,

Excellent location - Uber Friendly Staff”
I travel a lot with my job, and tend to stay in pretentious NGO style guest houses/hotels. This hotel is situated in the tourist area of Kathmandu and for that reason I loved it. I enjoyed chatting to excited tourists from all over the world over a masala tea in the courtyard garden and hearing their tales of trekking. The hotel staff were super friendly, especially the security guards and the receptionists. There were a few minor issues *e.g. toilet not flushing) which were resolved in a matter of minutes. Some of the drinks/food seemed a little over priced, but the set breakfast menus were fantastic. Especially the Nepali and Yogurt menus (which were weirdly omitted from my room menu). Clean. Safe and Superbly located.

Hotel and restaurant of excellent design, comfort”
It was pleasant to find the hotel in Kathmandu with unique and excellent design of restaurant and rooms - fantastic furniture in the restaurant, very comfortable lights in restaurant and rooms, many beautiful paintings everywhere (sometimes I felt myself like in museum:) I'm fascinated of vast variety of dishes in menu - it's rare thing in Nepal. Comfy gym with shower and sauna - it was important for me. Roof-top park is very nice - waterfall, swing under the tent, small pond, flowers, same wonderful furniture from roots - nice place to sit there and think or write or read - it's important for me as well in crowded Kathmandu. Ah, very important - electric power all the time! And air-condition with heater. And excellent internet! So i'm really fascinated.

Amazing new hotel in Thamel”
The hotel looks luxury and stylish from outside, I’ve seen nothing like this in Thamel before. I was staying in a Penthouse suite, and I was really impressed with all the decorations, comfort and a service. And especially jaccuzzi! My suite was at the roof-top, near the roof-top garden. It was very quiet there, so I could sit in the nice and peaceful garden just enjoying the sun and a glass of fresh juice or a cup of coffee. The garden is very nice, it has a waterfall, green plants, a small pond and even a swing. I was pleasantly surprised with my room, I even didn’t expect this quality for the money I’ve paid. The room has an amazing kingsize bed and very interesting decorations. But what I like the most, is jaccuzzi where I set for a couple of hours :)! Also an amazing shower cabine with steam and massage regimes. In the halls and the stairs of the hotels many nice paintings of local artists and very impressive huge lamps. But my room was located on the 5th floor, so it is a pity that they have no elevator. The restaurant is brilliant, it has some very unusual furnitture, the workers told me it’s made from teak tree roots. The restaurant area was also decorated very pretty, with amazing lamps. In the restaurant there was a big impressive menu, but unfortunately I couldn’t order many dishes, because as I understood, they just recently opened the restaurant. I was very satisfied with everything, and the service is just amazing. I also like that they have no problems with electricity. Wi-fi is always working and the internet connection is good enough. And the water in the shower is really hot. I will definitely stay here every year when I come to Nepal. This is the most cosy and comfortable place I have seen before.

An excellent choice if you value your comfort”
I'm traveling often in Nepal, but in was never so comfortable and cozy. I was sure in Nepal it's impossible, to have a warm room in winter or warm water and electricity around the clock. I was wrong:). The room and the restaurant was air-conditioned and heated (!), no any problems with light and water. I was also very impressed of the restaurant decor. Very stylish. And a such a huge choice of dishes I have not seen in Kathmandu. The cool feature of the restaurant is that you can order the breakfast any time (not just in the morning), even at night or in the evening. It is very nice after the flight from Europe, from another time zone. Nobody indicates to me, at what time should I eat my breakfast. I'm glad I found this hotel. Now I'll always stay there when I'm in Kathmandu.

This hotel is located at the heart of Thamel where you can find everything you are looking for to shop at Kathmandu. Everything was good about this hotel except for the shower which didn't quite heat up and the water pressure was very low.

The services, staffs and location is just perfect. My only concern is that the jacuzzi seems not properly cleaned, there are stains all over. But if i'm going back to Kathmandu, i would still be back to Aria!

Warm, bright and tasty ”
I was impressed by pictures and detailed descriptions of rooms on agoda website - but when I saw these glass installations live in my living room and bathroom I was really stunned. The lighting is amazing. I like most the huge ceiling lamp on the second floor of the restaurant – I felt myself like I’m in a theater or something. Ceiling in the lobby has many-coloured lustres – very beautiful. And the blue lighting in the corridors at night gives a feeling you are in a fairyland. The restaurant looks amazing with all these petrified wood from dinosaur’s time, shiny teak root furniture and paintings. The menu was really thick. It is actually like a book with plenty of pictures. It is a pity I couldn’t order chocolate fondue because they are still in a kind of opening process but the stuffed apple with nuts and honey was the best I ever tried. No noisy music, very comfortable. What I liked the most about this place – it’s completely smoke-free! Even in the roof-top garden. Finally I could enjoy myself sitting in the sun, chatting with friends and not been disturbed by smoke. By the way, they have huge waterfall and comfy swings at the roof. The bed was very comfortable. I’m a tall person and appreciate big long beds very much. The electronic door lock is convenient and they really have electricity and hot water 24 hours. Very unusual for Thamel. I would have never left if I didn’t already make my further travel plans. I will tell my friends in Germany about this hotel )
