“I highly recommend the Safa accommodation.”
I rarely leave reviews on Agoda. On Google, I am in the top 10% of reviewers. Agoda seems not to post negative reviews, which is why I don’t write reviews there, but I highly recommend this accommodation. In Thailand and Malaysia, there are almost no guesthouses that offer breakfast, and many places don’t even provide towels. However, in Vietnam, towels are standard, and almost all guesthouses provide breakfast, which most people find very satisfying. The breakfast typically includes an omelet, bread, two types of fruit, tea, and coffee. There are slight variations between accommodations, but they are generally similar. Interestingly, the breakfast menu includes items like omelets, pancakes, and pho. If you eat one and want to order something else because you’re still hungry, there’s not a single place that charges extra. It seems that the food portions are generous; I visited four guesthouses in Vietnam, and they were all the same in this regard. Here, you can choose from butter bread, egg bread, fried noodles, and stir-fried meat noodles. You can select one type of bread and one type of noodle, but currently, both are provided. The butter bread is enormous, about the size of three banh mi bread. The breakfast is prepared at a highly rated restaurant above the guesthouse called Mei Garden, so the taste is guaranteed. Moreover, the accommodation is newly built, so it’s very clean, and the towels are replaced daily with large towels provided like in hotels. These are new and very clean. The small dormitory does not have air conditioning, but the larger dormitory has air conditioning that runs 24 hours, which is cool and nice. There are personal curtains, so you can have your space, and the bunk beds have a staircase, so even if someone is on the top bunk, there’s no shaking or discomfort while climbing up. There are personal lockers next to each bed, and honestly, this facility is better than the guesthouses in Thailand where I stayed for 10 days while rating them 5 stars. The daily bike rental is 120,000 VND, which is cheaper than other rental shops, but there’s a shop two minutes away that rents for 100,000 VND. However, since you have to leave an ID or deposit, it might be more convenient to rent here. For reference, the basic price in Sapa is 150,000 VND per day. The advantage of this place is that it's quite nice, but the downside is its location; it's situated in the middle of the road leading to Cat Cat village, which is a bit far from the center of Sapa—about a 5-10 minute walk. The downside is that it's downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back, with quite a steep incline. Additionally, the surrounding area is under construction, so if you bring a suitcase, you may get splashed by muddy water. Aside from this, the friendliness of the staff is almost five-star. There’s no reason to feel awkward, and if you ask via chat app, they respond immediately and regularly check if you need anything or if there's any inconvenience. I kept extending my stay from the 4th to the 12th. I planned to go to Hai Phong for my flight on the 27th, but due to the heat wave, I’m just staying in Sapa for now. Anyway, I truly recommend it. For your information, I am really in the top 10% of Google reviewers for accommodations and restaurants.
