Broughton hotels & places to stay

It was 3 nights book in Shrubhill Destiny Student. There have a Supermarket, Starbucks and bus stops downstairs. Convenient go to Leith or the City Centre. There have no free storage before or after your check in, one bagkage £5. That was my first time living in this accommodation in a private dorm. They allow the room for 2 people live in. This time I came with my friend. The room only have a double bed, and they can’t split the bed to 2. So I ask them give me the extra pillow and duvet for me. I’m quite happy with their arrange. The room have a bathroom and toilet, but the space is narrow. There have a share kitchen for 6 rooms, there have sofa, high table for dinner. And the share cookware. But the sharing seasoning are limited. And the cookware is really old, hardly to found one useable saucepan to cook my scramble egg...In the common area they said they provide tea and coffee, washing powder, salt and pepper, soap, shampoo, ear plugs. All above have to ask at reception.

Beautiful hotel, spacious room, we had a room in the back with a view. We were on the second floor (which is really the third floor). Beauty of the hotel is they cannot really be altered too much, this means they cannot have lifts in many of the hotels here. Not a problem for us but I can see how it can be a huge problem for those with mobility issues. Everything was super clean, had modern touches but still had that old world charm. 5 to 10 minute walk to train station and Old Town! Bars and restaurants right next to the hotel. Wish we stayed longer! And the hotel staff held onto our luggage as our train was not til later in the afternoon.

its in very good location, just about 12-15 minutes walk from Edinburgh wavily station; the host was excellent, always smiling and helpful; though it is a hotel but with a personal touch like B&B type which you will like; They have just taken over the property couple of weeks ago and trying hard to improve the reputation. Edinburgh castle is also not far. They have their car parking, unfortunately there was big road works going on so I couldn't take the advantage. I stayed in a family room; It was large, clean with ample spaces; only the bathroom was a bit small; all the amenities were working fine. It was a very good value for money; we stayed as family for 3 nights without any problem; surely I will recommend it to others;

We stayed at The Broughton Hotel (now I believe it’s called Broughton Town House) for 2 nights in mid September. The host Fiona was really friendly, helpful with lots of advice of how to walk around the city of Edinburgh to see the main sights. Breakfast cooked each morning was scrumptious and plenty of sides to fill you up. Good size room with sufficient space for us to live out of our suitcase and use storage space, charging space etc. Ensuite was very clean. Location is about 10-15 minutes walk to the Royal Mile and the heart of the shops. Would highly recommend this place and it’s Host Fiona.

This flat exceeded our expectations - huge flat, spotless & lots of extra's - tea & coffee supplied toiletries, dish washer tabs etc. From the moment we opened the door, we were impressed the En-suite in the double room was a very pleasant surprise. My husband, my brother & myself were in town to see a show at the Playhouse, pleasant walking distance and with reach of LOTS of restaurants & pubs - we certainly would book again.

I'm from Malaysia, traveling with my little brother for university interview. This is the best place that I stayed during my entire trip in UK. Very cute and beautifully decorated house. The room is very cosy, warm and homely. It feels very much like home, more than a hotel. You can park in front of the guesthouse for free if you have a rented car. Just 5mins walk to the Main Street where there is a Starbucks, Sainsbury local there and there is a really nice cafe opposite the road called Word of Mouth cafe that serve really good breakfast and coffee. It is 10mins away from the bus stop where you can catch the bus to the city center which is not far away. I would definitely stay here again if I'm coming back to Edinburgh.

Given the low price, this represents good value for money, but is maybe a bit too basic and small for most. In particular, it was listed as sleeping up to 6, but in reality would be 4 at most, and ideally only 2 - our family of 5 was very crowded. The location is good - only 20min walk from the Old Town and 15min from the tram line - and convenient for supermarket and food. However the ground-floor flat has very poor mobile reception, and there is no WiFi available. We also had insufficient bed linen for 5 people, and a faulty hairdryer. Most of our issues were down to the booking agents who failed to provide us proper information on how to gain access, and failed to tell the owners to provide linen for 5. The owners, when contacted, did their best to quickly resolve these issues, however. In summary - suitable for 2 people, 4 at a push and certainly not more. Good location for airport tram and old city. Very basic and small, but value for money given the low price point.
