Stockholm hotels & accommodations

We spent 2 nights at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in Stockholm before boarding a cruise. The hotel was so convenient; we walked from the Stockholm Central Train Station, and the staff were excellent. Breakfast is absolutely wonderful! The hotel exceeded my expectations.

Within walking distance of the Metro & Gamla Stan. Had a view of Stockholm waterways and looked towards the Tivoli. Beautifully presented room, however was onee of the smallest we had stayed in during our time in Denmark, Nowary & Sweden. Buffet breakfast was fabulous Staff were very accomodating & helpful

The hotel is located very near Central station which is a plus point for me as we are arriving and departing via rail to other parts of sweden. It is also within walking distance to the shopping area and old town. The room is ok...but the receptionist is great. They were very kind to allow us to check into one of the rooms early and even grant us a late checkout upo...

Within a day, we became acquainted with key areas of Stockholm and realised how well positioned Hotel Sturplan is in the city. Positioned a block from a subway station and amidst shopping areas, lovely neighbourhoods, sidewalk cafes, and popular waterfront attractions, it's a surprisingly quiet and really comfortable stay. Staff were without exception very helpful, and...

I was visiting Stockholm during winter time, the location of Generator hostel its great 10mins walk from the central station. Facilities of the hostel are great..Example:USB port almost can find all the common area which is good for charging phone or electronic gadget.. Its the best hostel I ever stayed so far.. Must visit them again.... Staff are nice.. I was late to...

We couldn't be happier with our 1 night stay here. The staff was extremely accommodating when we arrived early from a long flight, so we got the room in the morning. This was the best thing that could happen to us, as we could have a nap in the best bed in the world, before heading out to see the city. Rooms are just excellent, there is absolutely nothing that wasn't g...

My stay here on AUG 14-17, 2014 was really nice! I actually tried to book my brother to stay here the night we arrived in Stockholm but I made a mistake on the dates and he had to go to another hostel nearby which he commented was not really nice so I am glad to have gotten my dates right for my stay here at City Backpackers! hee! well, the start of my arrival in Stoc...

the price/service ratio is excellent compared to most hotels in stockholm. this well located hotel has very good rooms with proper amenities. staff was most helpful from check-in to check-out. food was ok. could improve their breakfast buffet service logistic. business center very well equiped. will certainly book this hotel again while doing business in stockholm.

I have no objection regarding the location and type of rooms. Just opposite to the Stockholm central station, subway station just below the property, also close to shops/restaurants and other facilities. It has a decent breakfast. City center stockholm is generally very pricey and hotel room rates are high as well. Compared to that the rooms and the price are decent en...

The only thing wrong with this hotel is its location sandwiched between a motorway and the railway. You can only arrive and leave by car, as far as we could see and there's a nasty-looking factory right next to it .. Otherwise hand on heart it's spotlessly clean, big good rooms, nice breakfast and sweet staff. We'd probably stay again if we had to visit Stockhol...

awesome hoel choice. hotel is centrally located, close to public transport. Hotel staff was attentive, rooms were clean and the inclusive breakfast breakfast was better than most. I would recommend for anyone visiting Stockholm, who wanted to experience a quiet setting, expiencing a neighborhood feel, yet close to everything and easy access to the amazing public tra...

We had a 4 night stay at Hotel Tegnerlunden which in Stockholm. The hotel was well priced for the being so close to the centre of the city and Sweden is generally an expensive country. We arrived at the central station and walked to the hotel, took around 10 minutes and was easy to find. We arrived several hours early hoping to leave our bags before going exploring....

This hotel is on the suborb of Stockholm but with an easy acces to the center since it is located just next to the subway. Atmosphere is great, the hotel is very nice. All the rooms are good size with stylish decoration. If you do not mind going downtown by subway or do not need to stay in the expensive old town center, this is the best option.

Excellent location for sightseeing and exploring Stockholm. Apartment was beautiful and well equipped. Spacious bedroom, full kitchen. Felt like a real apartment. Limited interactions with staff but when we did speak with them they were very helpful. Small leak in bathroom (tho it's hard to believe no one noticed it before us).

Staff were. very helpful, adding a third adult to the booking at short notice and providing a trundle bed. Arrangements were also made to check in after reception had closed. Tea and coffee making facilities were available near the room. A very good breakfast was provided to suit gluten, dairy and pork allergies. It was only a short walk down to the Viking ferry term...

Memory hotel is nice and quite hotel, the staff is friendly and helpful, near the hotel you can find Kista market and there a lot of restaurants (Indian, Arab, Mexican, American and chins restaurants), I will not back to this hotel because the rate is too expensive and they need to provide coffee maker at the room

Firstly we were greeted by the super helpful staff Maryam, she allowed us for early check in after our long bus ride to Stockholm. Bed was comfortable. Location superb near Odenplan Metro station. Breakfast was great!!!!!! Love everything about this hotel

it's located near the end of the main shopping street, much better than living in old town. The tidiness and facilities must exceed what you can expect for a budget hostel. I booked at a very bargaining price, and I don't think I can find anywhere better at this price in Stockholm.
Cheap places to stay in Stockholm

Very friendly reception guy , Located in Underground with lot of IKEA bunk beds , near to main attractions of Stockholm . Mixed bathrooms and Mixed bedrooms so prepare yourself to stay along with girls and boys . Has a kitchen where you can make coffee , Tea and cook something simple if you want (please, wash after use) Has tables outside rooms to sit and eat or disc...

The hostel is in a perfect location just beside the metro. There are some shops, restaurants, bars and supermarket around. The single room is very small, fit only for one person and there isn't any window, so the ventilation isn't very good. But overall it's a great hostel with this price in Stockholm.

Firstly we were greeted by the super helpful staff Maryam, she allowed us for early check in after our long bus ride to Stockholm. Bed was comfortable. Location superb near Odenplan Metro station. Breakfast was great!!!!!! Love everything about this hotel

Easy to access with your own car. Free parking! Friendly staff, clean room. Hotel is a bit far from the city. 700-800 metres from nearest metro station and 9 stations away from the old town. Anyway, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's looking for good and cheap stay in Stockholm.

Brilliant location in Stockholm with it being around 20mins to/from the central station. There are another 2 TunnelBana/Metro stops not far away. Photoshopped photos on Google. Took forever to get the room after checking in. Shower only had hot water. No one at front desk to complain about shower, had to wait until morning. My partner and I stayed one night at the Rica Gamla Stan Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Located right in the heart of the Rica Gamla Stan area, the hotel is close to many lovely eateries, shopping and sight-seeing locations. The room we stayed in was very quaint and cosy and full of charm. Highly recommended hotel

The hotel itself is of a high standard but the room was quite poor. The room felt cheap. For a 4* hotel and this amount of money it was way overpriced....think 4* price and 2* quality and you're closer to the truth: old paint, damaged door, holes in the walls, tiny bathtub, fake marble finish, cracked tiles, etc, things you just don’t expect to find when you spend near...

I like 17th century's European architectures and thus I like old town a lot. I am also fascinated by castle and palace. It was so joyful that the hotel was just next to the Royal Palace! We arrived and felt that the receptionist knew her job and that she really wanted us to feeel welcome. We went for a cup of coffe on the veranda. The service was promt. We had our coffe and my wife left for our room. Istayed waiting for the bill. I had a fantastic time in the city. It was wonderful weather - a bit cold but bright sunshine - and perfect for walking around.
Stockholm has an excellent transit system, and is pedestrian friendly. Regal architecture set along seemingly endless waterfronts means it's visually stunning and wondrous to explore.
a clean and beautiful city. But sometime can be user-unfriendly as English is not widely used in the signboard.
Beautiful city especially the old town. But personally think too busy in the shopping area. And the shops are mostly chained and large-scaled ones.
Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were in Stockholm and so it was difficult to really enjoy the old town and wander the streets.
you need about two nights to see all the museum and boat tour. every place is worth seeing. full of history and traveler friendly city.
Having a short holiday in Stockholm, old city with its old narrow streets and lots of boutiques is definitely a place to visit.
Government Buildings, Towers, city center streets, restaurants and Architectural Buildings is amazing.
Skansen museum is a must visit. Very unique place about the history and traditions about the Swedish culture.
Stockholm is a great place for sightseeing (depends on which part of the year you go). Personally, I went during late autumn/early winter.
come on summer if no can be very cold the people are extremly nice and like to help tourist lot of things to do dont miss the old city
Capital of Sweden, with lots of history connected to it. Beautiful by the water areas. Central areas are typical metropolitan like dull though.
You must be prepared to spend at least half a day at Skansen Museum as there were many things to see and experience.
In Stockholm, it has all those historical sites to be visited, like the Vasa Museum, the Royal Palace, City Hall, Gamla Stan(the old town), but it also offers a really good choice for shopping lovers, places near to the Central Station, Slussen, Kungstragarden are all good places for both shopping and sightseeing.
You have to visit the old town, see the changing of guards at 12:15. The ticket for the royal palace is valid fot one week, so you can take your time.
This was better than I expected, and we felt safe no matter what time of the night or day we were out.
Good public transport. The fares are more expensive than London. Stockholm card is not good value if you do not go to the museums which are expensive.
Canal tour is a must. Excellent shopping all around the hotel, but Gamla Stan has the best art galleries.
No need to prepare pretty cash, accept credit card anywhere, take boat trip for quick look here, islands with country parks round the city, must travel within jun-jul & travel with copenhagen, a big contrast between city & country park with half hour journey.
Lots to do and see here in Stockholm. Anything from the ABBA museum to some of the best galleries and museums I have ever been to.
Overall impression is that this is a very expensive city for tourists! Vegetarian food is not easy to find!
With its 750 year history and rich cultural life, Stockholm offers a wide selection of world-class museums and attractions.
It a Very Cold Country so please take note on when is the best time to visit, during winter it could be lower then -20 so be prepare.
It's a city of learning, many museums. I went to Vassa museum and it's amazing. Don't miss Brunch cruise into archipelago.
It was a great easy to navigate city full of history and life. I only had 3 days there and it wasn't enough!
Stockholm is called Venice of the north so do get one of the boats and see the archipelago. Do wander about the old town, but don't shop or eat or drink here, unless you're visiting "Den Gyldene Freden, as it is ridiculously over priced.
NICE CITY WHERE BY JUST WALKING TO THE PLACES OF INTEREST WOULD BE ENOUGH, NO NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME TAKING THE BUS TO REACH THEM.
Stockholm is a good sized city which offers a mixture of good shopping and sightseeing. It is most enjoyable to consider taking a cruise along the canals and waterways.
We rented a nice car and drove around the city. There is so much to see and the people were very nice.

Enchanting Stockholm Secrets to Discover
Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a city that beautifully blends history with modernity. One of its most enchanting secrets is its unique geographical layout; the city spans across 14 islands connected by over 50 bridges. This stunning archipelago setting not only offers breathtaking views but also provides a sense of tranquility that is hard to find in other bustling capitals. As you wander through the cobblestone streets of the Gamla Stan (Old Town), you'll be transported back in time, surrounded by medieval architecture and vibrant colors that tell stories of the city's rich past.
Another charming aspect of Stockholm is its quirky traditions. For instance, the city takes pride in its annual Surströmming festival, where locals celebrate the notoriously pungent fermented herring. While this may not be for everyone, it showcases the Swedes' adventurous spirit and love for their culinary heritage. Additionally, the city is known for its "fika" culture, which encourages taking a break to enjoy coffee and pastries with friends or colleagues. This delightful custom reflects the warm and friendly nature of the Swedes and is a must-try experience for any visitor.
Stockholm's architectural beauty is another treasure to behold. The city boasts a mix of styles, from the regal Royal Palace to the contemporary designs of the Ericsson Globe. The harmonious blend of old and new creates a captivating skyline that is best appreciated from one of the many waterfront viewpoints. Whether you're exploring the picturesque streets or relaxing by the serene waters, Stockholm's charm is undeniable, making it a destination that leaves a lasting impression.
Unforgettable Reasons to Explore Stockholm
Stockholm is a city bursting with reasons to be explored. One of the most compelling reasons is its rich history, which is evident in its well-preserved landmarks and museums. The Vasa Museum, home to a 17th-century warship that sank on its maiden voyage, is a fascinating testament to Sweden's maritime history. Visitors can marvel at the intricate details of the ship and learn about the era it represents. Moreover, the Skansen open-air museum offers a glimpse into traditional Swedish life, showcasing historic buildings and cultural events that bring the past to life.
Another reason to visit is Stockholm's stunning natural beauty. The city is surrounded by water and greenery, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities. From relaxing in the lush Kungsträdgården Park to taking a scenic boat tour through the archipelago, nature lovers will find plenty to appreciate. The changing seasons also add to the allure—summer days are perfect for picnics by the waterfront, while winter transforms the city into a magical wonderland adorned with twinkling lights and festive markets.
For those seeking adventure, Stockholm offers a diverse range of activities. Whether it's exploring the trendy shops in SoFo or indulging in the culinary delights at renowned restaurants like Aifur and Meatballs - For the People, there’s something for every taste. The vibrant nightlife scene, featuring everything from cozy pubs to lively clubs, ensures that the fun continues long after the sun sets. With such a wealth of experiences, Stockholm is undeniably a destination that should be on every traveler's bucket list.
Best Times to Experience Stockholm
Choosing the right time to visit Stockholm can significantly enhance your experience. The summer months, particularly June to August, are ideal for enjoying the city's outdoor attractions and vibrant festivals. During this period, the days are long, with nearly 18 hours of daylight, allowing ample time to explore. The city comes alive with events such as the Stockholm Culture Festival, where visitors can enjoy free concerts, art displays, and street performances. Additionally, the pleasant weather makes it perfect for picnics in parks or boat trips around the archipelago.
On the other hand, winter in Stockholm offers a completely different yet equally enchanting experience. From December to February, the city transforms into a snowy wonderland, complete with festive markets and holiday lights. The famous Christmas market in Gamla Stan is a must-visit, featuring traditional crafts, local delicacies, and a cozy atmosphere that captures the spirit of the season. Winter sports enthusiasts can also enjoy activities like ice skating and skiing in nearby areas, making it a great time for adventure seekers.
Spring and autumn are also lovely times to visit, with milder weather and fewer crowds. Spring brings blooming flowers and outdoor events, while autumn showcases stunning foliage and cultural festivals. Each season in Stockholm offers unique experiences, so no matter when you visit, you're sure to find something special to enjoy.
Smart Travel Tips for Your Stockholm Adventure
Traveling to Stockholm can be an exciting adventure, but being prepared with some smart tips can enhance your experience. Firstly, familiarize yourself with the local customs and etiquette. Swedes value punctuality and politeness, so being on time for meetings or social gatherings is essential. It's also customary to greet people with a friendly "hej" (hello) and to say "tack" (thank you) when receiving assistance. Embracing these simple gestures will help you connect with locals and make your visit more enjoyable.
When it comes to currency, Sweden uses the Swedish Krona (SEK). While credit cards are widely accepted, it’s wise to carry some cash for smaller establishments or markets. Currency exchange is available at banks, kiosks, and airports, but be mindful of fees. For a hassle-free experience, consider using an ATM to withdraw cash directly in SEK, as this often provides better exchange rates.
Safety is another essential aspect of travel. Stockholm is generally a safe city, but it's always wise to stay aware of your surroundings and keep your belongings secure, especially in crowded areas. Public transport is reliable and efficient, making it easy to navigate the city. The metro system, known for its artistic stations, is a fun way to explore different neighborhoods. Lastly, downloading a translation app can be helpful for communicating in Swedish, though many locals speak English fluently.
