    Wonderful Service!!!”

    Customer Service!

The staff at East Hotel is really what made our stay perfect! My mom and I only stayed a couple days in Yangon. The hotel is still somewhat new and has a great design throughout. I love the local wall paintings on each floor. They're very unique and add character to the hotel. With regards to the rooms, I thought them very clean and modern. One of the previous reviews mentions about the open shower, which can be inconvenient for some, but there are some rooms where this is not the set up for the shower. Alex who works with the hotel asked us after our first night's stay about our rooms and then switched us to another room since we were having a problem with our allergies. There was a moldy smell, but I think this is pretty much the norm for most of SE Asia. We were moved to another room where this wasn't an issue. The staff was great! I've never had this type of service before where they're really oriented towards the person and making sure their stay is enjoyable. Also, I know as a traveler they say not to eat at restaurants where there are no people. We ended up having dinner here one night and there was no one there. I was even more hesitant because I'm vegetarian and they didn't have many options on the menu. The chef was great and made something completely off the menu for me that was vegetarian. It was the best meal I had in Myanmar. The price was totally worth it for the amount of food I got. I'm still dreaming of the vegetarian curry and lentil soup I had. It was truly delicious!!!

Quite nice hotel at a good location”

    Location, feeling

east hotel is a quite good hotel at the real center of yangon down town. beside the staffs were so warmful and nice. the reception and the restaurant area are colinial style. you can enjoy the stay in this hotel with a cheaper price (probably it wa promo price when i stayed there). one points, no frige in the room. you want to have some cold drinks and bought them from out side, but you don't have the place to keep. except this, east hotel is one of the best choice in yangon.

    simple clean hotel”

staffs at reception are very helpfulvand friendly

the hotel is clean and the pathway to the rooms are nicely decorated with some lovely paintings. As for the room ,i requested for a room at the higher floors and got the corner one on the 8th flr.The rooms are pretty simple with no feature walls.I was lucky to get a room where the batroom was not next to the bed.As everyone said the open concept.I was with my hubby so it was not a problem.Seriously i think the toilet shd have a proper door.Other than That is was overall good.Dinking water was a steal as it was provided in the room and outside as well. the first day we arrived late .The shops close around 9pm.So we had dinner at the hotel itself and i must said it was quite good.Wifi connection was not to bad.The Boyoke market is just a 5 mins walk and is closed on Monday. There is a restaurant called ZIwagyi just befor you reach the market which serves good local and western dishes.WE did not go out of yangon so there is pretty much only temples to see and Tyalin or Bago. The travel agents are all located in office buildings and not like other places where you can find them easily around the hotel area. They don't do much internal tours in Yangon itself so it will be good to prebook your travels in the internet before travellling.Pls bring clean crips us dollars if not u will have a problem changing money .U can change at the airport or at the money changes in scott market .Overall East hotel is good if you don't mind the open concept of the bathrooms and toilets,All the staffs are courteous and friendly

    Best mid-range hotel in Yangon!”

Great location, great service, great price

It couldn't be any simpler....with all the craziness of inflated hotel prices in Yangon, the East is probably one of the few good deals remaining in the city. This is a no frills boutique hotel, but it's newly renovated, Service is great, rooms are clean, and you're in the middle of it all. If I had one complaint, it's that the wi-fi connection isn't as fast as more epensive hotels. That said, it's gotten better every time I've stayed here, which has been about every three months since March 2012. If there's an availability, I highly recommend that you choose the East hotel!

Near Sule Pagoda hotel - super convenient ”

We stayed 1 night at East Hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Yangon downtown. Literally we can walk anywhere in downtown from the hotel. Breakfast was not impressive at all. But after trying breakfast in other hotels at same price range we concluded that breakfast at East Hotel is decent for Myanmar standard. Bathroom design is a bit weird: sink and toilet are separated from bath tub. But it is ok.

    Nice hotel and good location”

location, comfortable clean room, Internet, desk

This was a nice place to stay in Yangon. It is near the Traders Hotel (which is better known to taxi drivers). It is reasonably convenient to the central market. While it is about 2 miles from Shwedagon, I walked anyway, and it was a relatively safe and easy walk. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The room had Wifi - though it only worked when I was sitting on one particular spot of my bed, the first night I was there. I would have been really pleased if the Wifi worked better, such as allowing me to sit at the small desk. The staff is friendly and helpful. The price is pretty good for the location. Breakfast was included in the price, and was good. I actually returned here for my last night in Myanmar. Although a room was available by calling the hotel ($55 minus a $5 discount), I could not reserve the room on agoda (at $37 plus fees), even though I tried. I had an early morning flight for my final departure. The front desk offered me the bag breakfast (white bread sandwich and other inadequate fare). I jokingly asked if they could give me a bag breakfast with mohinga instead, and was amazed when they told me they would serve me that for breakfast an hour before the normal opening time for the restaurant! It was very good, making my last meal in Myanmar memorable. The worst I can say is that the hard surfaces in the hallway, along with open stairways near the rooms, means that noisy fellow occupants could wake you up. A number of reviewers have complained about the bathroom being essentially part of the same room. It is true that the toilet is separated from the rest of the room by only these soft plastic beads on strings that do nothing to prevent the sounds and odors of our human nature from reaching the rest of the room. The shower does have a window, so that someone on the bed could watch the other shower, however if privacy is required, there is at least a blinds that can be drawn.

Very comfortable no-frills hotel in Central Yangon”

    Price, cleanliness

We arrived in Yangon late one evening and made it to the East hotel without any problem. It's centrally located across the road from the Trader's Hotel which all the taxi drivers know. The lobby is fairly modern like the rooms. All of the lobby staff were very pleasant and helpful. In our room, there was a TV with a reasonable selection of cable channel choices and decent WiFi access. The main drawback is that the toilet and shower are not in a separate room, but attached to the sleeping area. There is not a door for the toilet but rather a large bead curtain. My fiance' and I aren't shy people, so we weren't too bothered by it. But it could definitely be uncomfortable for friends traveling together. Breakfast the next morning wasn't anything special. Overall the East Hotel was a very comfortable choice although we only stayed for 1 night. Given the price and the location, we'll probably stay there again during our next trip to Yangon.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and good location”

Hotel is conveniently placed for the market, railway station and Sule Pagoda

East Hotel is a very pleasant hotel indeed. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean. The location is the hotel's best asset being well placed in the downtown area of Yangon. One point to note is that there is that the toilet is not in a separate room, but shielded either by a curtain or a wall - this might be uncomfortable for some people sharing a room.

Great location, clean rooms & really helpful staf”

Central location, helpful staff, restaurant on site,

East Hotel is a great place to stay in the centre of Yangon, just down from Sule Pagoda, opposite the Traders Hotel, not far from Scotts market and the train station. The staff are really helpful, going out of their way to help with travel arrangements for us. The rooms are clean and equipped with everything you need. The beds are good. It's true that the toilet is not separated from the bedroom by a door, its usually behind a wall and shower curtain or bead curtain, but it's private enough. There's lots of hot water, and an air conditioner in each room The rooms with a view of Sule Pagoda can be "noisy" on the higher floors - the monks start chanting at about 5am! Not all rooms have a window, but that didn't bother us - we were out most of the day. The only issue was lack of effective ventilation after a shower, which meant that the steam didn't go anywhere very effectively. The food in the onsite restaurant is reasonably priced and good. We stayed three times during our trip, and would choose to go there again next time we're in Yangon.

the best thing about this hotel is the central location. you can just walk around to see some major attractions of yangon. i'd say it has "traders location" without traders price tag. check-in and check-out was quick and easy. wifi worked. the room was clean and tidy. a bit small, but adequate for us. we didn't have breakfast as we were leaving very early, but a modest breakfast box was provided. if you are staying just one or two nights in yangon (and most do just that) i'd recommend that hotel as the prices for the best hotels in yangon doubled or even tippled in the last year or two.

    Great Location-Great Service”

    Convenience & F&B in hotel.

East Hotel is a purpose built Shophouse style Hotel. Flanked on right and left side by 2 large cinema halls. AGODA website did not feature a correct picture of this hotel. Unless you are staying at Higher Floors > 5th floor, most rooms have no window except the front room (201,301,401......) Our room is windowless and always dark despite all lights turned on. Bathroom and Toilet are without doors, unless you are a couple else can be embarrassing. Located in the center of the city directly opposite Traders Hotel - the largest and tallest building in Yangon. I would not rate this as a deluxe 3 star, perhaps a good 2 star accomodation. F&B service is good. No wifi. Scott Market, China Town is 10 -15 mins slow walk from Hotel. Sule Pagoda is down the road. our room is essentially a rectangle unit topped off with - off the shelf wardrobe, toilet and shower unit. Despite all these, It is a nice hotel to stay and requests for higher floors and ask for front room...

    Going solo in downtown Yangon”

The location, the staff and the way people made you feel that nothing was a problem from organising taxis to arranging late check out

I really enjoyed my stay at the East Hotel. It was clean, comfortable and staff were very friendly, gave great directions to places I wanted to go and honest advice about best ways to get there, how much taxis should be, etc (spent the previous weekend being taken for a ride at every turn in Bangkok!) My stay coincided with that of various filmsters and a movie star yet it all felt very understated, relaxed, non-fussy and every guest was treated exactly the same which I loved - nothing was hyped up. The only slight negative I did have, which could have been slow internet which often cut out, related to some uncertainty of an airport pick up. A few days before going to Yangon I added an airport transfer request on the Agoda booking form, when I received no response I emailed the hotel, still no response. A little anxious on arrival at 11.45pm as a solo female traveller never having been to Yangon, I was relieved to see a smiley taxi driver with my name on a piece of paper; this was a special relief as I picked up a random follower somewhere en route from HK who approached me on arrival in Yangon saying how he'd been waiting for me so we could exchange numbers and hang out all weekend - just a little unsettling!

Enjoyed very much my short stay at the East hotel in Yangon”

The hotel was good, communication was almost instantly as I had trouble with visa upon arrival but could deal with hassle-free when the hotel offered to keep my booking secured my big thanks go to Ms. Zin Thu Aung & her customer service skill is excellent. The location is right in downtown Yangon & close to Starbucks & Sule pagoda. The room was nice and pretty much clean only the shower was so so as water was barely coming out and wifi was cutting in & out but I know this is very common other than that everything was good. Would definitely come back.

Very nice hotel in a good location”

    Clean hotel with comfortable rooms

The East Hotel in Yangon is a very nice hotel situated in a central location in Yangon, handy for walking around the city on foot. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the shower is excellent. The staff were always very helpful, friendly and polite. The breakfast in the hotel was very good! All-in-all, I would recommend this hotel.

    Good Location and Nice Staffs”

    Helpful Staffs

I always stay here whenever I visit Yangon. I love the location of the East Hotel, right in downtown. Staffs are very nice and helpful. They command good English. Anyway, the unimpressive thing is the design of the room, especially the toilet and shower room. It might be great if the bathroom is seperated.

    Exceptional”

I stayed in East hotel day after day for 10 days because of covid19. Every day i tried to find a flight to go back my country... So i have a good experience about East hotel. The staff is very friendly, try to help you in many way. Rooms are quite ok and the hotel is in good place, downtown. The only thing i regret is that i requested the manager to give me a good price because i needed to stay for a long time in his hotel but he didn't manage my request. He gave me the same price as Agoda and no special price even if i book directly with the hotel. Anyway, in the critical situation of covid19, i stayed there and enjoyed my stay till i got my flight...

great hotel, modern, well designed, and comfortabl”

bathrooms are nice, modern design, good food

I loved this hotel and am so happy I chose the East Hotel in Yangon. The other hotels in this price range were not as nice and the ones that were cheaper really lacked so much in comparison. The hotel is in a great location, free internet, great breakfast, and a modern interior. I highly recommend this hotel- it is a good value in a city that is expensive hotel wise.

    Great, centrally located hotel”

    location, food, staff

We enjoyed our stay...returned to the East Hotel (where we had stayed when arriving in Yangon) after travelling to Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake. The staff all welcomed us back and made us feel special. The restaurant serves enjoyable food at a reasonable cost - pay in US$. This hotel had the most comfortable bed off all places we stayed. No mini-bar in room but we used the one for the free water in the passage - kep our beer cold and no problems. Wonderfully close to city centre.
