Galveston Beach hotels & places to stay

We went for a Gymnastics meet at the convention center nextdoor. First time to Galveston, but frequent Hilton consumer. Check in staff was great and very courteous, however the housekeeping staff were awful. Our room was only cleaned/ made up two of our four nights. Three towels we went to use were dirty and the bedding was also unchanged. Called to ask for a couple towels and a blanket one night and got a thin blanket and sheet. At that point we gave up. Just walking in hotel was an issue with housekeeping staff. We came in to use the elevator an older woman was holding the elevator open as she cleaned the interior. She told us we wouldn't be able to catch any elevators (there were three) while she was cleaning. So basically we had to either walk the seven flights of stairs or go somewhere else besides our room. Once two other families stood and waited she finally huffed and puffed and let us all take the elevator. So sorry we inconvenienced "the help".

I had previously reserved another hotel and then decided to switch. I made this decision based incthei reviews I ready about Quality. Boy, did I make a mistake!  I arrived around midnight after a long day at work and then a long drive. I was tired and had 2 tired kids. check in was simple enough enough and we located our 5th floor room. The room had an unpleasant smell but we were exhausted and I figured it was because the air conditioner was turned cold enough. We quickly unpacked so we could get some sleep.  As we looked at the sheets, pillows, and comforter. totally disgusting. there were nasty stains on the linens and makeup stains on thr pillowcases.  I found the cleanest pillows I could and said we would see about it the following day. The teenagers were laying down and I could hear them screaming, "Oh my God, there are boogers on the wall!"  I look on the wall and sure enough there were several dried up boogers on the wall next to where they are suppose to be sleeping! I immediately went down and asked for another room. the lady at the desk said she would send info to the manager but would put me in the only room for the night. We packed all our things and relocated down the hall. Exhausted and frustrated we settled in and went to bed. The breakfast was fair to poor. It was the same thing every morning. Rubber egg circle,  weird looking sausage party and the biscuits could have broken a window. The waffle stations were in the corner and caused major line issues. It just wasn't a good set up and we had to go to the front desk and request items that had ran out to be refilled. The kids weren't happy and wanted to go to the waffle house down the street. I assumed the breakfast would change daily but its didn't. It was exactly the same. On the 2nd day we realized our TV wouldn't power on. Checked the plugs and such but wouldn't work. They did send someone to fix it while we were out.  Beach access meant walking through the parking lot of the Mexican restaur

We were on the island for the 2017 Lone Star Motorcycle Rally and completely enjoyed our stay. We visit the island each year during this time but are hardly completely satisfied with our stay. My husband and I both agree the Doubletree Galveston is a perfect place for us. It’s not too far from the main attractions, the staff and cleanliness of the facility is great and the other guests were peaceful. We look forward to visiting again next year.

Good Location as there is pedestrian in front of the hotel to the seawall. Convenient to get to the beach. Room looks nice. Bedroom size is quite spacious for 2 queen bed. Toilet was little small. Fridge was quite big. 4-5 of 3 pin plugs and 2 USB Port. My room was location on ground floor, there is door access to outside but fence off from pool area (Public). The thick curtain design it that is covered a portion of window. It is quite translucent if somebody really look into the room. Be careful. Turn off light when sleep or use bind clip to clip curtains together. I caught 3 small roach coaches during 2 nights stay. Safe is not easy to lock had to use technique to lock. At night, there might be music from the inhouse restaurant but is not that loud. They provide one set of ear plug. However, it gave me complimentary check in early if there is room available and complimentary check out till 12pm. Shuttle is to port of galveston. Overall, it is still good experience.

First I must say if you want a five star feel on a two star budget keep hope alive. The hotel was okay for the price we paid for the room. The hotel is old and needs some remodeling. The bathrooms need to be remodeledit was clean but the you could tell its time for a do over. The room had a scent but nothing that a little air freshener could not take care of The breakfast is truly continental just the basics bread, cereal, and drinks. So if you need just a place the lay your head this will work otherwise keep looking.

This will be our #1 exclusive spot to stay in Galveston from this point forward. Everything was top notch. The entire staff was above & beyond friendly and accommodating from valet to front desk to poolside servers to housekeeping. The valet even remembered our names & greeted us each time we returned from the beach! The resort grounds were landscaped emaculately. The rooms were super clean & of good size. We took advantage of poolside chair massages which were amazing & so relaxing. The massage therapists were so charming & very knowledgeable & skilled in their trade. My husband got a haircut in the spa salon & was more impressed with the cut than his regular barber back home does. They have several dining choices for your taste & all are reasonably priced. I really can’t say enough about how happy we were with our stay and if you are considering San Luis I promise you will not be disappointed!!
