Truly a green haven with exceptional service!”
I really enjoyed my two night stay at Green Haven Hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and the gardens were very well-maintained. I also had one of the best warm showers here in this hotel over my ten day trip to Myanmar - water pressure and temperature was perfect...and this was rarely the case anywhere else! I also found the staff knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, professional and helpful at all times - after returning in the evening from a day long trek, one staff member even came to my room to check that the hot water in my shower was alright. The kitchen also prepared delicious shan noodles for breakfast each morning (ask for this!) -- other more conventional options included samosas, crepes and toast. Location-wise - the hotel is a 20-25 min walk from the town centre, where the bus station is. But I found this a pleasant walk and appreciated the opportunity to see a bit more of Kalaw besides the town centre. The hotel manager is also a very kind and obliging man to gave me a ride into town on his motorbike on two occasions. Bicycles can also be rented at the hotel for free. Otherwise, there is a little betel nut stand on the road where the locals wait for the bus and someone there will be happy to ferry you to the hotel for 1000 kyat (it's a 3 minute ride). A note about the rooms: Mine was very cosy with windows that let in plenty of sunlight during the day and wonderful views of the garden. I personally loved this, and could draw the day curtains whenever I wanted some privacy, which was not a problem. However, the walls are thin, and at night, light and sound (from the patrolling staff or other returning guests) might be an issue for those who are not heavy sleepers. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Green Haven Hotel, found it great value for money and one of the best hotels I've stayed at in South East Asia. I would definitely stay here again!

Amazing service and beautiful atmosphere”
I had an incredible time at Green Haven. We were in Mandalay for 2 days before coming to Kalaw, and this was a great change of scenery from the hectic polluted and bustling city. When we arrived to Kalaw in the middle of the night, they let us stay without question and took us to the room so we could rest, and told us we could just check-in in the morning! Then when we woke up, we saw the beautiful garden and the pine-tree filled surroundings and was in such a good mood. Then they served us generous and delicious breakfast to top everything off. The owner was also very nice, greeting everyone who stayed at the hotel and very helpful with arranging treks for us and showing us on the map what to do. It's not in the city center, but only a short bike ride away and I think it's a lovely getaway. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent”
Green Haven Hotel was great for our 2 days in Kalaw before treking to Inle Lake. Located about 30 minute walk from city centre, it's the perfect place to unwind and chill out in Kalaw before you trek or arriving from busy Mandalay. Rooms were cosy, but big enough for what you need. Staff were super attentive and had whatever we needed. They got a little cold at night, but with warm blankets (supplied) you will be fine. At time the hot water was a little low, but with a packed house, this isn't unheard of in Myanmar. Overall, a great stay.

Truly haven”
Older style guesthouse in the back of Kalaw with beautiful very well-maintained garden & the pine-tree filled surroundings. My room was very cosy with windows that let in plenty of sunlight during the day and wonderful views of the garden. Shwe Oo Pgoda is just 5 mints away from this place. The staff were absolutely lovely. 20-30 minutes walk to the center of town. Most varied breakfast. The kitchen also prepared some delicious food. one of the best hotels I've stayed in Myanmar. I would definitely recommend it to everybody for a stay in Kalaw.

Very nice stay, and friendly people.”
We arrived very early (0430AM) and got our room immediately - no extra charge very good service! The hotel is very nice and the wooden theme makes it warm and cozy. The hotel owner is lovely and loves to show his town and sourroundings. He can arrange a lot of different trips and trekking tours. We had a very wounderful time at the Green Haven Hotel and would recommend it to everybody for a stay in Kalaw.

Peaceful, friendly retreat”
We had a great stay at Green Haven. The staff greeted us with a cold drink and a friendly welcome and were always charming and eager to help. Breakfasts were large, but could do with being a bit less greasy. Our room was lovely, with windows all round, though there was not much space to put clothes, backpacks etc and we could have done with a hook to hang the towel on by the sink, which was in the bedroom. The location, an easy 15 minute walk from town, meant that we could enjoy the fresher air and garden views. We'd recommend Green Haven for a relaxing, calm experience.

Stunning views, peaceful, best breakfast in MM!”
I've never seen so many staff wanting to help. There's an army of them and they are all nice and smiling. The hotel is just outside the city, a nice 7 min bike ride away (providing they have working bikes, which doesn't seem to always be the case). The rooms all have great views on the hills surronding Kalaw and it's very peaceful. Loved it.

Spacious clean rooms - a little far from town”
Take the opportunity to rent the bicycles (currently for free) from Green Haven and you can ride around everywhere on a bike. Place is a little out of town, so useful to have the bicycles to get around. There are no child seats on the bicycle, but a rear cushion seat does the job if your kids are a little bigger and can hold on. We actually took a bicycle seat with us and managed to attach it. Kalaw is a nice place to look around on bike. Breakfast was OK, could be better. Not a lot in terms of food options near the hotel, so need a bike or transport into town or else 20 min walk.

Pleasant stay!”
The Green Haven Hotel needs to create and post an early check-in policy. We were quoted an amount on the phone and then given a higher amount when we arrived. After sorting this out, we did enjoy our stay. The landscaping is beautiful and the staff is very helpful.

Qiant older hotel in Kalaw”
An older style guesthouse in the back of Kalaw, about 10-15 mins from the center of town. Nice setting and appearance. Rooms a little dated and older, but most things work, including the high pressure shower which delivers a great volume of hot water. Friendly helpful staff. Overall, quite good.

Beautiful hotel, but a bit far from Kalaw”
The hotel is beautiful and well kept though showing some signs of aging e.g. in the bathrooms. I thought my wooden room was very charming! Hot water is not a given, but I did have one hot shower during my two day stay. The staff is extremely nice and very helpful, but does not speak a lot of English. This turned out to be a problem when they forgot my airport pick up and we had to communicate via phone. The hotel is a 15 minute walk down a small hill from Kalaw, which means that it is pretty peaceful and you get a nice view, but also that you are a bit far away from restaurants etc.

Peaceful place”
I arrived at 7am and was allowed to check in right away. The owner Than Lui served me breakfast, for free. I had only arranged for the following morning's breakfast. The rooms are nice and clean. He also drove me to my trekking agency upon checkout, refusing to accept any money. The property is surrounded by many shades of green and the sound of birds.

You get what you pay for”
The hotel was cute, open air rooms with no fan/ac although you didn't really need it being in Kalaw the night was cool. The room was everything we expected for what we were paying. The part that was disappointing was at time of check-out. I booked through agoda a double room, but on the mobile site there is no place to select number of occupants. There were 2 people staying in a double room (which seems obvious) but the hotel tried to charge us for an additional night at time of check out because we only booked the room for 1 person. Just felt strange. Free bike rental was a plus. The included breakfast was like 3 meals in itself!

Quiet, cozy place”
It is not centrally located, you have to walk 20-30 minutes to get to town. But it is a nice, easy walk and not that big of a deal. The Wifi was ok, at times spotty like all hotels in SE asia. The breakfast was quite wonderful, good coffee, lots of nice food. The room was nice and cozy and since it is out of the town it was very quiet. Great place to get a good night's sleep.

Best staff!”
We had a few minor glitches with our room- however the staff we so lovely and helpful- they fixed everything ASAP and even upgraded our room for free. It's a little out of town but this makes it very peaceful and it is an easy bike ride in. If you want some hot water make sure you shower early in the morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay again!!
