Serene and Peaceful”
I stayed at Han Thar Gardens with my wife and infant son in August 2015. It was low season, so we were automatically upgraded to a deluxe room. The hotel's restaurant and lounge areas are spacious, relaxing, and comfortable - perfect for a day of reading and relaxing with a drink while watching the monsoon rains. The pool is small but inviting, good for a dip but not for any lap swimming. The rooms are comfortable. The staff is very attentive and speaks excellent English, and the food is incredible and very reasonably priced. My only caution to sightseers is that you probably won't ever have the chance to see Bago because you won't want to leave the hotel grounds.

Exceptional”
Han Thar Gardens is a perfect place for a weekend retreat from nearby Yangon. The buildings and gardens are beautiful and provide a great place to rest and relax. Its a short trip from the city but offers a green and quiet escape. The rooms are cozy, stylish, clean, and comfortable. With wifi accessible from all parts of the resort, a cute library, and lots of private spaces, it's also a nice place to work and be productive. They also make an effort to be eco-friendly and conscious of their presence in the community though reducing generator usage and minimizing waste. Friendly staff and good food and drinks make Han Thar Gardens the perfect place.

Perfect getaway from busy Yangon”
I came here as an expat with a group of other expats, seeking a relaxing escape from the city and work. This place was PERFECT for that. Since it is rainy season, we nearly had the entire place to ourselves. We loved making ourselves at home, lounging barefoot in the lobby/livingroom area, and the best part was the treehouse/library, where we sipped tea, played card games, and listened to the rain. The entire place is gorgeous and very tastefully done. The pool is beautiful, and I can imagine enjoying it during the dry seasons. The staff was also very pleasant, smiley, and respectful of our space while still being attentive to our needs. The owners are absolutely lovely and are always around for a chat. The menu is tasty, and not as overly priced as you might expect from such a classy joint. My only complaints are that the coffee menu consists only of French press, and that the train station pick-up came across as complimentary on their website (to me, at least). A cappuccino would have been the cherry on top, and it would have been nice to know that the pick-up is $18 each way before I booked. I do recognize that it's also my responsibility to double-check first. In general, the price tag seemed a bit steep, but that could also be because I've lived in Yangon for over 2 years now (also earning less than I would at home). The included breakfast IS made to order, is a lot of food, and you do have a handful of selections to choose from. So, that did make up for the price, a bit. Loved my stay at Han Thar Gardens, and hope to come back with my husband for a getaway during our wedding anniversary. :)

Tropical garden retreat”
The Han Thar Gardens is a piece of paradise with its tropical garden, beautifully decorated buildings and rooms, delicious cuisine and most importantly its warm and welcoming staff. What I enjoyed most was the pool area and the various lovely seating areas where you can easily spend a couple of days just relaxing and reloading your batteries. The hotel is well outside of town (20' by car) so not the ideal spot if you want to be in the middle of things. However, transportation and tours can be arranged through the hotel. Stay here if you want some peace and quiet, enjoy great food and be surrounded by welcoming and friendly people.

An oasis retreat”
Located slightly out of Bago town it feels like you're a million miles away from the craziness of any city. We found our stay to be completely relaxing and enjoyable. The staff are among the friendliest we've ever encountered and will bend over backwards to fulfill any requests. The food here is superb, even if you don't stay here we recommend you go there for dinner. We were blown away by how fresh and delicious all of the food was. The hotel itself is a boutique style resort with a lovely Verandah over looking a beautiful landscape. My only complaint was that the clouds came in just around sunset and we missed what I'm sure would be a beautiful sunset as the verandah faces the west and has uninterrupted views. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a time out, delicious food and wonderful service.

A delight”
With a short stay in Bago ahead of me,it was a sheer delight to stumble upon this wonderful hotel, and I was very happy with my choice of accommodation. The hostess/proprietor was extremely helpful, assisting me with my travel arrangements, travelling into town guidelines and places of interest worth visiting. The food in the restaurant was amazing, staff were incredible and my overall impression was that of wanting to return asap.I couldn't fault the hotel on anything, and they were most kind to allow me a late check-out due to a botched travel plan,so many thanks for that.

Amazing Staff”
Had an amazing stay in March 2018, made completely by the amazing staff. Mimi, Han Su and all of the team are so helpful, from booking trips to flagging local busses for us. The hotel is also great with lovely big rooms, very clean, pool and treehouse to watch the sunset. The Hotel is quite remote but it is easy enough to catch the local bus into bago which takes 15-20 minutes. Overall great hotel and would throughly recommend.

Highly recommended”
Spent one night in Bago returning from the Golden Rock. The hotel is a little far away form downtown however it's very nice, the food is amazing and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The room is clean, big and with charming decor. They offer bike rental service and they can help you with any transportation need (buses, taxis, etc). Highly recommended!!

Very comfortable and friendly place.”
My stay was definitely good. I liked almost everything there starting from the rooms. Although it wasn't that spacious I would say it was accurately furnished and decorated in a very unique style it would be difficult for me to define. But it was really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful in giving me the right suggestions on how to optimize my spare time in Bago. Definitely good value for money.

A beautiful oasis”
My wife and I had been traveling rough for 10 days when we arrived at this beautiful oasis. The owner of the hotel was raised in England and learned to speak her native burmese later, so she definitely understand 1st-world customer service and living conditions. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was VERY helpful answering questions and making arrangments to continue our travels. We received a free room upgrade which had the greatest bathtub I've ever seen; which we promptly took advantage of. The only critics I have were that the water pressure was low and very much effected by usage in other rooms, which made filling the magnificent bathtub a very long process. Also, the hotel is definitely on the expensive end of the spectrum, making a good place for a rest stop, but not for an extended stay.

The best experience while in Myanmar.”
The hotel is a bit further out from the city on the right side of the road if your are driving back to Yangon. The place is amazing, huge rooms, nice bathroom, great food, amazing stuff. We had the chance to meet the owner MiMi, thanks again for everything we will come back:)! They can help you organizing the local tours with transport, even back to Yangon. I would truly recommend this hotel for everybody.

Vegetarian food options were too few. Price much too high for what the rooms are (small). Location is good, but far outside Bago.

Friendly family run hotel with a good resturant”
We really enjoyed our stay here, the service was personal and friendly, the rooms fine and the food excellent. To the extent that I would consider classifying this as a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel. That said the pool was nice and there is a quirky reading room and balconies for watching the sunset. We also had an interesting chat with one of the owners.

I loved the horses in the garden. It's a great place to relax and read, maybe a bit expensive for it.

We stayed here for one night and the owners were charming. We eat outside and the food was delicious. Our room at the back of the hotel was lovely; looking over the golf course.

Amazing”
If you are going in this area, this is the place to go, great views, amazing rooms and the food is just brilliant. This doesn't even compare to the service which was second to non. This will be a regular stop for us!

Relaxing weekend away from congested Yangon”
My room was lovely, large and spacious. The owner kindly upgraded me with no extra charge. Perhaps because I was unable to change the dates of my reservation without paying a huge fee. Its a very quiet, peaceful place.

unbelievably friendly and hospitable staff”
I can't say enough about how great the staff is. Although I only stayed one night they ensured I had everything necessary to make my stay special and memorable includind taking me to the bus station and helping get my onward bus ticket. The food was very good and the room comfortable. When MiMI, the owner arrived she was a tremendous help organizing my onward travel in Myanmar. Thanks to a great team.

Beautiful place but expensive, some issues.”
Mixed feelings about this place. Easily the best hotel in area, but very expensive. Disappointed by food, felt it should have been much better. Beautiful property but far from town. Rooms can by noisy due to nearby highway.
