Haymarket hotels & places to stay

I booked the junior suite and believe it was very good value for money. The receptionist was very accommodating and helpful throughout. The room is more or less standard size of a hotel room, however, it comes with a kitchen which is seperate from the sleeping area. As I spent over a week in Edinburgh it was very convenient to be able to store food in the fridge and cook some small dishes, rather than having to head out for every meal. The Haymarket station is within 5-8 minutes walking distance, depending on one's walking pace. The 100 Airlink bus shuttles 24\7 to and from the airport and takes about 25 minutes. Very handy! The city centre is also within walking distance and takes about 10 - 15 minutes by foot, which is well wort it as along the route you get to see some beautiful architecture and get a sense of the city vibe. I really enjoyed my stay and would book it again if my work commitments require me to go to Edinburgh once more.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. 10min walk down the main road from Haymarket Station. The bus to the zoo is right outside (literally) Smack bang in the middle of princes street. The shopping and vastness of the restaurants are amazing. Breakfast is an option (extra expense) - however it’s not a cooked one. If your looking for a cooked one there’s 3 Wetherspoons in the area. The castle is only around the corner which is worth the walk for the view alone. Bedrooms are of an amazing size. Felt like home. Comfy beds and standard bathroom. Just what you need. Nothing too fancy! Free WiFi is a bonus too.

My mother and I chose Haymarket Hotel via agoda, site unseen of course. Being from the US, we had to go on reviews and a few pics and hope for the best. We could not have been happier. Albeit, the rooms are smaller than US room, but we were prepared for that. And having a room "without" a window was great for the late sunset and early sunrise. The staff, beyond reproach! So friend and helpful, they were fabulous! The breakfast in the attached pub is worth the cost. Very filling in its selection and got us all the way till dinner. We did using the parking for our rental car. Small parking are but we only used it to leave car during stay and used public transportation to move about Edinburgh. Overall was a great guest experience.

The building at B&B Edinburgh was a lovely historic building with richly carved wooden paneling and marble fireplaces. The lobby, the library, the bar and the breakfast room all retained the beauty of this building from the owner in the 1850s, with a mix of modern furnishings and updated ensuite rooms that were spacious and quiet. The location is a lovely neighborhood near Haymarket train station and an easy walk to Old Town and more. The area has lots of nice restaurants nearby and it has an international feel to it. The breakfast served in the morning was outstanding and offered more choices and variety than usual continental or full Scottish cooked. Service was wonderful. The hostess offered that we might rest after traveling in the Library or Bar on early arrival before our rooms were ready. This is a real plus to have a comfortable surroundings to relax in after traveling! I will look for their other locations!

The hotel was great, staff went out their way to help and were friendly and chatty whilst remaining professional. Overall a great stay and fantastic location just off of Princes street for shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to tourists and business travellers. The heatlh suite was a little dated but I think this ,ay be being refurbished in the near future. No chance of a massage either- as the spa was fully booked for the whole month! So book ahead if you want to be pampered during your stay!

Excellent swift check in with most friendly staff who are always willing to accommodate you. Returning guest, as I stay here around 6 to 8 times per year. I have never been disappointed! Set in a beautiful location next to the River. Small Car park onsite, 15- 20 minutes walk from Haymarket station and same to town. Handy restaurant, with good value breakfasts. Comfy bed, spacious bathroom. Clean and safe area. I will return soon. Thank you again Britannia Hotel Edinburgh!

I have stayed in this Haymarket area of the city before and indeed several times on this street and must say was impressed with what encountered here. The public areas are a nice mix of modern yet keeping the old character elements and even has an in house stylish bar area which I would image is open on request or at busier times. The room I stayed in was simple and stylish in layout, with whatever would need for a stay. Bed was comfy and ensuite albeit like many in city was small, were both more than adequate and clean which is the important factor. For the size of ensuite the internal space in the shower was actually very good and the shower was powerful and again spotless. Everyone encountered were pleasant and professional without being intrusive which can sometimes be the case in small guesthouse / hotels. I had a front street facing room and had no problems with noise and shutters on window kept light out perfect. Extra heater in room too which is good now the wintery weather here and means can control the heat of room to suit you. Also obviously beside Haymarket train station and has some great places to eat and drink a 5-10 min walk from door, including a great gin bar and an unassuming but fantastic Thai restaurant. Very happy with my 2 night stay and if prices were to be as competitive as were this time would not hesitate to stay again as it is a great base for in and out of airport.

The Bonham is a centrally located hotel, a short walk from the Haymarket train station (with a convenient tram stop from the airport), Princes Street and the Royal Mile. We were able to check in early, way before the normal check-in time, which made is possible for us to take a nap (having arrived on a red-eye flight from the US) before taking our first venture out into the beautiful Edinburgh. The young woman who checked us in (whose name, regretfully, I can't remember being completely jet-lagged at the time) also gave us a map and pointers about what to see and do in Edinburgh. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was larger than I expected, and the towels were big and luxurious. I cannot comment on the restaurant as we didn't take any of our meals there, but I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.

The property is right across Haymarket Station: accessible via train, tram and bus. It was disappointing that the room we booked described it as having 5 separate single beds but the actual room only had 3 beds: 1 queen and 2 sofa beds. Contacted the owner/manager and I was informed that the description in Agoda was wrong as the property does not have any single bed. Despite this, it was still a comfortable stay. Additional info for future guests: the rooms are 1 floor below and the stairs are a tiny bit winding. Just a note for those travelling with big suitcases.

This is a lovely older-style hotel. Decor is nice. Staff are friendly. Located midway between central Edinburgh and Murrayfield Stadium. A ten to fifteen minute each way. Great pub approximately 3 minutes walk from Hotel (opposite Haymarket Station) for good reasonably priced pub meals. Breakfast in Hotel itself was good (but no cooked items). Also nice place to have a drink before going out for dinner. We had a grown up son with us and the room was big enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Clean and well presented.

Leonardo hotel is fairly basic but everything is done well and it provided everything I needed. Great central location with lots of shops and places to eat or get a takeaway. Haymarket train station is a 5 minute walk away, and that's where the airport shuttle bus stops too. The hotel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and they provide essentials such as hairdryer, toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. Small touches made a difference, such as free fruit and drinking water in the lobby. The one improvement I would make is to have more staff available at the front desk - there was usually only one person on duty which meant long waits when there were several people to serve and phone calls to take. Overall great value and highly recommended.

The Location is satisfactory. You are a 15 min walk away from Prince's Street and the nearest of the city center, and 45 min away from the furthest of the city center. The area is residential and quiet, but down the street you have a main street from Prince's Street to the Haymarket, where you have pubs, shops, smaller, cheaper restaurants as well as nicer ones. If you like to spend the night out partying, be ready for a ~40 min walk to the most active part of the town. On the other hand, the Hostel is situated 10 mins away from the beautiful and peaceful Water of Leith, which would be a highlight for those who want to enjoy a quiet afternoon in this small pocket of nature inside the city. So +1 to the location thanks to this. The Hostel has its own bar on the floor ground, common facilities downstairs and rooms and bathrooms upstairs. The bar is open to all with average to slightly above average prices (including your resident discount). That area is extremely nice and clean, and on some nights the bar is a nice plce to hang out peacefully, on some others there are activities planned (live music, quizzes...). The common facilities and room on the other hand are only cleaned once a week, on monday. A lot of people using only a couple stalls, the bathroom can be pretty unclean. They have suffered quite a lot from the use as well. The kitchen is okay-ish clean, although I believe the rules regarding cleaning and dishwashing should be better enforced. The bed linens were not all really clean. The common room ("backpacker's lounge") is not great (a couple tables, a tv, a computer), but there is a nice small, quiet (again, residential area), garden with a couple tables. On the other hand, the kitchen is pretty cool with a variety of utensils (although most are in poor condition), and you have access to various plugs and lockers. The staff was for the most part extremely friendly and helpful. All in all, recommended for someone solo traveling or in couple looking for

Fantastic accommodation for the price. Ideally located immediately adjacent Haymarket train station, airport tram & bus links, and local bars and restaurants. The adjoining Guards Club bar has limited choice, but has lots of Guards history and friendly staff so it's worth a visit. Having arrived by train it was a perfect overnight stop before continuing my journey the next day. It's worth noting that the reception is not 24hrs, so if you're arriving very late or very early you may need to work this out in advance with the hotel.

Good size and location. Other plus points were a pint of milk waiting for us in the fridge. Lovely bathroom, but rather tired lounge furniture (settees shedded the remaining leatherette finish constantly). As others have said, the stairs to, and within, the flat are steep and awkward. It would have been nice if the info about collecting tne keys elsewhere was easier to find, we were alerted to that by another reviewer but still had to look hard to find it - it isn't emailed directly. All in all though we were pretty pleased with the accommodation and would be more than happt to stay again.
