“Great location but not exactly a great place to stay in.”
I am a seasoned backpacker and i am usually not squeamish when it comes to cheap stays. But Before i give my honest review, let me point out two things first. 1. Hong Kong is a very expensive city 2. There is a housing crisis in hong kong and small properties can get ridiculously expensive. This property is great for one thing, it is conveniently located at the very center of Hong Kong. It is a 30 second walk to Tsim Sha Tsui Station and a minute away from the bus stop to and from the Airport (Bus A21) which is alot cheaper and convenient than taking the train. Now for my honest opinion, i am going to explain why i didn't like my stay. While i do understand that the price point is considered cheap in Hong Kong, i feel like the price was still too steep for the quality of service they provide. I wasn't expecting anything five star but at least i was hoping for something decent, a place i can look forward coming home to after an exhausting tour of this wonderful city. The blankets and the pillows provided reek of body odors we didn't think they were fresh linens. The bathroom emits an odor too. we ended up buying lysol sprays to clean up the room ourselves. we also didnt get new linens. I believe we deserved new linens because we booked for 5 nights. Also, access to the 13th floor of the chungking mansions where the property is located isn't the most convenient. the elevator is small, ridiculously slow and the lines are always long. expect a journey trying to go up or down the building, unless you wish to use the fire exit where residents from other properties smoke. like i've said earlier, i am a seasoned backpacker and i'm used to staying in rundown , sketchy inns, but i believe it is too expensive for the experience. the owner should take cues on Southeast asian hostels, they're cheap but they can be decent.
