Nice hotel for good price”
My boyfriend and I stayed at Honey Pine Hotel for one night before a trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake. The hotel was just what we were looking for. Our room was clean, large, and comfortable at a very reasonable price. The hotel is also close to the main market in Kalaw.

Happy at Honey Pine”
I enjoyed my stay in a superior room, which included a huge bed, views overlooking Kalaw, and even a Buddhist shrine to one side. I felt comfortable and slept well. Staff helped me set up a walking trip of area, complete with walking map. They helped me with a couple of local phone calls. I found breakfast food to be adequate, service wonderful, other guests pleasant, and staff very helpful. Don't assume all staff speak English fluently. When I asked about setting up an excursion in the area, it created some confusion. A stronger English speaking staff member arrived who was extremely helpful, and helped me make alternative arrangements for a day trip. I would stay at Honey Pine again!

Honey Pines is excellent”
My stay at Honey Pines was excellent and I would recommend anyone who is coming to Kalaw to stay there. We stayed there for five nights so we obviously thought it was very good! It is a new hotel and only has one star but I believe it is worth three stars.

good value for money”
the hotel would do better if they installed heaters. Kalaw gets very cold at night during winter. I paid for a small space heater, which partly did its job. But in cold places, a space heater is not effective when the insulation is poor and the toilet/shower is freezing cold. Its terrible coming out of a warm shower to a freezing cold room.

Honey Pine, where toilets are not that good.”
Honey Pine is located central in Kalaw and easy to find. The toilets don't work well, but the staff tries to solve the problem. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes not. The breakfast is ok.

Outdated but clean”
We only stayed here for one night as a stopover before our train to Hsipaw. We looked for a budget hotel and the Honey Pine actually exceeded pur expectation. Note that it is outdated, especially the bathroom, but our room was clean and breakfast was okay so all in all we had a pleasant stay.

A rustic stay in a rustic town”
Kalaw's a little town that serves as the base for treks, and Honey Pine is a nice place to stay while you're there. The wood paneling has the right feel for the place. It's nothing special, but it's clean and decent and located in the heart of town. There was an odd smell from the bathroom, but I asked at the front desk and they fixed it. They also provided extra blankets, a necessity during the cold snap when I was there.

Good stock standard tourist hotel which delivered.”
I spent a pleasant four nights here while I explored the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Delightful. The hotel is on the main street just up from the market. Very convenient. Basically it is a stock standard tourist hotel offering basic clean and comfortable accommodation and a bit of breakfast in the morning. Wi Fi was appalling but so it is everywhere in Myanmar. It delivers what it advertises.

A pleasant choice at Kalaw to start your trekking”
Spacious room with large pine wood beds, bathroom large with hot water. Water pressure for WC low. Mattress just ok. Breakfast is very limited. Toast with two eggs, jam or fried rice. A glass of juice, a cup of coffee or tea and a plate of papaya fruit. All in all: pleasant

Good hotel”
Everything was great about this hotel. Location was good except for the dogs that barked on the main road at night and the announcements/chanting that started at 5am.

Did not stay the night”
Generally you get a decent room for USD 25 in Myanmar, not a charming one but a clean one. This was unfortunately not the case this time. Apart from the room being far from inviting, it was also the first one right next to the reception desk and entrance. The room itself smelled of cold smoke, which was in the carpet and curtains (I hadn't realized that the rooms came with carpets or I wouldn't have booked) and the bed linnen was dirty, both with old, permanent stains but also with some that looked fresh. The pillows smelled freshly laundered but the sheets looked and smelled not fresh. When I explained my objections and asked if there was another room, they said "no" there wasn't. And that's when I started to feel a little annoyed, having not seen or heard any other guests, but okay, maybe it was true. I asked for fresh linen, which they were willing to give me, when I suddenly thought that I'd rather not stay the night even though I had paid in advance. I decided to relocate to another hotel that I had checked out earlier in the day for the following night. When I apologized to the staff and said that I'd leave, they suddenly "found" another room key. It's not as if they were unfriendly or anything but they were also not too keen to take this seriously right from the beginning. So I left and had a great stay in a hotel down the road.

Relatively good”
Near the main road, close to restaurants, market. There is a beautiful view on a high floor. There is a maintenance man who came to fix. the usable items ...the hotel is an old building. There is no lift. Had no wifi. Even in the lobby. So you do not have an option as a way of communication.

Good place to stay”
We appreciated the early check-in getting off the bus from Yangon at 4AM. 100m from where the bus dropped us. Nice staff, good breakfast. A bit cold at night in the room, which was on some kind of subsoil.

Receptionist warm hotel cold”
If location is your only criterion for selection hen this hotel will serve. If you wish to access the double bed from both sides, be warm, watch TV in English without arguing with the night staff, have your egg served as you wish, be provided with a teaspoon and communicate with waiting staff (apparently untrained teenagers) then Give it a miss. Female hotel receptionist spoke English was warm and friendly.

Clean friendly Chinese type hotel”
You have to shop around for a room.but we have a great one on the fourth floor. I would negotiate price if you are here a while. It would be great if they had better coffee though Poe Poe bakery is a block a way.

Good sized room but cold”
Like most travellers, we intended to stay here one night while we arranged a hike to Inle lake. Knowing that we would arrive 5am I asked if an early check in would be available but didn't receive a response. When we did arrive we had to wake the staff who told us that the room we had book hadn't been cleaned and so we would have to pay for another room. As we were tired we paid for an additional night. The room was spacious but very cold with no form of heating. Breakfast was basic but did the job and serving staff were friendly. Quite an expensive hotel for very little comfort.

Pitstop”
Spent a night here before our trek to Inle Lake. We had a strange ant problem but it didnt concern us too much since it was just one night. Facilities were fine, bathroom was spacious. Breakfast included and was suitable. Location is just a couple of blocks away from the market. Staff's English is limited.

Did not like it one bit”
The best thing about this hotel was the location from the bus stop. The room was small and noisy. The towels and shower did not seem clean. The breakfast was terrible. The cups in the room were not clean. I really don't have anything good to say about this hotel. It was also way over priced and the details on the Agoda website do not match the room I ended up with. I would not return to this hotel.

A family holiday”
They were very nice to us since we had an additional guest which made it and ought number but made it very comfortable for us and accomodating. Only thing was breakfast is very limited and we didn't feel full after breakfast.
