Great staff & clean rooms, dirty beach”
The two major downsides were that the section of the beach directly next to the hotel is either a trash pit or trash run off. Bags of old cement, glass, bricks, and other trash that crows and dogs like. Not a great smell. There is a little tidal pool right there that would be great for kids, but it has sanitary pads and other garbage floating in it. Also there is a crew of guys who operate morotbikes/4 wheelers that often take over a section of the beach chairs. Its not comfortable for women to sit out there--if you walk by in your bathing suit they will take pictures with their cell phone. But once you get through the trash and photo gauntlet, the ocean is lovely. If the hotel would just hire someone to clean the beach in the morning and have the chairs be for clients, it would make a huge difference. The one other difference would be to have real coffee at breakfast. The electiricty cuts (7 am-12; 3-7) are not a problem. Wifi often still works, the rooms stay cool, you can still take hot showers. I would stay at Hotel Lux again, but would always go down to the next resort's beach.

Nice hotel, but lot of variation in rooms”
This hotel is nicely situated on the beach and in the heart of the village, which is a great advantage. There's a beautiful garden with comfortable easy chairs and sea view, and a nice swimming pool. The rooms are nice and spacious. It does make a lot of difference where in the hotel you are. The neighbours on the South side have a generator that makes a thundering noise day and night... Unbearable! So choose a room far away from the South end of the place. The bar has no idea how to make a cocktail; the drinks that they offer are very bad, except the whisky sour and the rum sour. There is a restaurant, but it doesn't really function (no problem though, there are plenty other places in the village). The breakfast is disappointing.

Great hospitality”
I was there for few nights.. Pros: Kinda instaworthy hotel (lol). I reached the hotel from Yangon at 5am and the checkin time is 12, but found out they provided a big dorm for all the guest, with mattress pillow and blanket.. They hv room service and the price is good. Walking distance to shops, massage, restaurants and the tuktuk ride is always ready infront of hotel's restaurant. Mostly it costs only 1k for everywhere i go around here. The next day, i got a high fever. The staff was really attentive, idk their name so cant mention here thanks guys for giving me the meds and checking on me :) Cons: Dorm - But ofc people (the guest)were lousy and selfish didnt think of other people. For snoring cant do anything but for talking out loud you are so disrepectful and uneducated. anyway lucky me, my room was ready by 9am! The room is not a soundproof, i can hear the next door were fighting, talking, crying kids, laughing etc which is annoyed me but i was too sick to make a complain

Hotel in City Center”
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room and Bathroom both very spacious and well equipped. Bed comfortable. Breakfast western and Myanmar style. Breakfast room would be nicer situated with view to the sea instead of street, but this is just a small "minus". Hotel organised Motorbikes for us and bus tickets to Yangon.

Great mid range hotel”
Our garden view room was large and comfortable, but a little noisy when the generator is on. Power comes on in shifts, but the pool, beachfront location and decent included breakfast made sure we enjoyed our time. Excellent staff, they couldnt do enough to make our stay and onward travel comfortable.

Very nice stay”
The position of the hotel is fantastic! Directly on the sea and in the center of the village. Perfect for the dinner outside, there are several restaurant at walking distance! Electricity is on from 1 pm to 3 pm and from 6 pm to 6 am. We took the superior room with garden view and it was a little bit noisy because of the generators working constantly...but with earplugs it was ok, we’ve slept very well! Staff is very friendly and always smiling. Room was big, simple but clean, towels changed every day and also the bed sheets every 3 days, if I don’t make mistakes.

New hotel, construction not yet completed 11/2014)”
Hotel is nearing completion & did have some teething problems which should be resolved in time. Staff had varying levels of English, which again will improve over time, though they were always friendly & willing to help. Right in the center of the village & walkable from bus 'station'. Go for an upstairs seaview room as the view of the Bay of Bengal is stunning (the trade off is the wifi is much better on the ground floor)

Monsoon Season Group Trip”
We got this booking at a bargain during monsoon season, but would not recommend paying the listed full price. Breakfast was reasonable, Wifi was stagnant. Rooms were adequate, but without hot water. Electricity only during 12pm-3pm (this is common for most hotels in Ngwe Saung). Very poor English at reception, however as helpful as they could be but did not want to do happy hour even though it was advertised. Would look elsewhere for massages, Pool was clean and great location to the beach and restaurants. Overall, not worth full price, but if you get a good deal its manageable.

gorgeous beach, too expensive for bad factilities”
This place just opened and the staff are working very hard to make guests happy. It's right on the beach and right in the center of town. They gave us a free upgrade to a room facing the sea. They are building a pool too! However, they have some facilities issues which remain to be resolved: one night the generator broke and so there was no A/C, and we only got really hot water once in four days. Two tips: --avoid the third floor beach-facing rooms for noise reasons. in a clever architectural move, everyone in the hotel passes by 301 and 302 on their way to breakfast, so you're guaranteed an early wake-up. on the other side, when construction is done, 303 and 304 will be located next to... a karaoke room. --you have to ask them to turn on the water pressure for your room. they turn it off every night and don't seem to turn it back on unless you ask.

Wouldn't stay here at all! ”
We arrived late and we will give the staff credit- they were friendly and helpful and tried to help make our stay more comfortable. However, the hotel is old and unmaintained. Electricity runs from 6pm to 6am (which we managed to negotiate to stay on until 9am but the aircon itself was more like a fan) so by 6.30am everyone was out of their rooms sleeping on the loungers. The room we got , for $60 a night, was so damp that the bedding was damp, and the amount of mosquitos was evident of the damp bedroom and wet bathroom. Our toilet leaked so the water didn't drain out of the bathroom. We pulled back the bedsheets and found unidentifiable stains on the bed, needless to say we slept on top of the bedding as all other rooms were full and it was 1am by the time we arrived. We went for a morning walk and the pool area was covered in bits of litter and polystyrene, and the beach itself was filthy- covered in pollution with little care from the locals. Only one hotel had staff cleaning up the beach in front of their area; it wasn't the Lux Hotel. All in all we had a horrible experience and wont be coming back to Ngwe Saung and staying on the side near the town, or rushing back any time soon. The litter pollution is really disheartning and deterring.

Was quite ok.”
There is security that does a good job, but they could care more, that the village youngsters don't do loud partys and barbecues just infront of the hotel yard to the ocean side. Breakfast package could have been better.

Great pool but bad eggs”
Very pretty but a bit overpriced. Breakfast was average, we had limited power and this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at all trip.

Disappointed on the seafood and bird's island”
Hotel is strange, once we checked-in, found out that the electricity works only 1-3pm and 6pm-6am. The room with sea view that we picked was okay but the garden view is something that we thought luckily that not choose.
