Hotels near Dean Village

The hotel is easy to find, its between Waverly and Haymarket station - both 12 mins walk. This is a good location, walking distance to Dean Village, Princess Street, Shopping areas, Walking distance to the Castle and a lot of nearby bus stop also trams and buses to airport. The guy reception is more than helpful compared to the female staffs. Very basic which you can expect in a 3 star hotel. Very easy check in and check out. Try Ask Italian Restaurant which is basically beside Cityroomz, the service and food are amazing! Enjoy Edinburgh!

Good things: The staff is the best! Warm and friendly, they made me feel truly welcome. The hotel location is a good one. Across it is Haymarket Train Station. Right at its doorstep is a bus stop. I don’t know exactly where the tram stop is but I’m sure it stops nearby. The room is really comfortable and clean. The bed and the sheets are wonderful to sleep in. The bathroom is very clean as well. This a good place to stay. They do not have a restaurant but they do have a small coffee shop where you can buy your breakfast box. There is a good pub right beside the hotel for all your drinking needs. Not so good things: The room is really small! There are no cabinets to hang your clothes in. Just four hangers in front of the full length mirror. Pack lightly if you plan to stay in this hotel. The city center is a bit far to walk. About 20 minutes to walk. Although, as I’ve said, transportation options are abundant in front of the hotel.

At a 15min walk from central Edimburgh, B+B was a great place to stay. Beautiful building and really kind staff. We asked for a room with a view to Dean Village and they provided that for us. The breakfast was excellent and we never had to wait to be served. At check-in they let you know what are the peak hours for breakfast so you just need to have that in consideration. Besides the usual they serve you tea/coffee and toasts and you have a menu for hot breakfasts to choose from. We booked a Petite Double Room and it had the appropriate size, since we only went there to sleep. It was always clean and we always had tea and cookies available. Good sized bathroom with big tub. The only thing we felt could be better was the mattress. It was too soft for our taste. Other than that everything was wonderful.

The hotel was great, staff went out their way to help and were friendly and chatty whilst remaining professional. Overall a great stay and fantastic location just off of Princes street for shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to tourists and business travellers. The heatlh suite was a little dated but I think this ,ay be being refurbished in the near future. No chance of a massage either- as the spa was fully booked for the whole month! So book ahead if you want to be pampered during your stay!

We was 8 couples that have attended for Edinburgh Christmas Market We realy liked all at the hotel .... the only thing we can say is hotel is bit away from city centre. as we was mostly all over 60+ to get tram/bus still we had appx 20 minutes walk and as trams appx was £1.75 we have decided to take taxis very easy to have from hotel by free phone.. taxi for 4 always was under £10 so we managed .... Buffet breakfast was very nice for just under £8 .... buffet dinner was ok too and JUST under £11 .... I wonder why all those bad reviews in tRipadvisor regards this hotel ..... If such born complainers need better they should look and book a 5 stars hotel .... this hotel it was a great value for money hotel .

This is lovely hotel - very comfy and cosy. Nice place to "come home" to especially on a cold day in Edinburgh. Great location in Haymarket - very close to the trams, train and bus stations. You can even walk to the city centre - Princes Street is a leisurely 20 mins walk away. Even if the location is close to the centre, it also has a homey feel and pretty quiet at night. The staff are also great and helpful. The first thing they did after they checked me in was provide very useful tips to the main attractions, as well as even specific local places like bookshops or local places like the quaint Dean Village just behind Coates Gardens street. I really had a wonderful stay here and I would stay again if I am fortunate enough to visit this beautiful city. Highly recommended.

We arrived and our room was not ready so we went to the bar to celebrate the start of out weekend away with some bubbles. The staff member took out an almost empty bottle and poured wine into both glasses. The wine was flat and she was about to top it up from a fresh bottle. When I asked her to throw away the old wine she gave me quite a look. Also the roses on the bar were wilted and they were still wilted when we came down to go out 6 hours later! not what one would expect if the staff had an eye for detail in a 4 star hotel. The room was nice but the fittings in the bath room were not what one would expect in a 4 star hotel and the hot and cold taps were the opposite way round in the bath and the sink! There was no turn down and there were only 2 tea bags a day! We had Sunday lunch before leaving and the kitchen left us waiting 45mins for our food when they knew we were on limited time. It was a shame because the food was excellent!

Booked her for a sisters weekend for 4 andglad we did. Dumped bags parked the car an£ off down town only 15 minutes walk but away from the really busy streets. Rooms were good with tea and coffee but very warm with heavy curtains Thankfully we opened our window at 6pm when we returned to check in. My sisters next door were melting! Breakfast was superb for £10 each cooked breakfast with choices and all the cereals fruits etc. Stock was replenished regularly although the potato scone was not fried not sure what they did with it! There’s a lovely courtyard and a lounge with an honesty bar so you help yourself and record it and gets added to your bill. Prices were ok for a hotel and good variety of drinks to choose from. Parking at £14 for 24 hours is good value

The property is right across Haymarket Station: accessible via train, tram and bus. It was disappointing that the room we booked described it as having 5 separate single beds but the actual room only had 3 beds: 1 queen and 2 sofa beds. Contacted the owner/manager and I was informed that the description in Agoda was wrong as the property does not have any single bed. Despite this, it was still a comfortable stay. Additional info for future guests: the rooms are 1 floor below and the stairs are a tiny bit winding. Just a note for those travelling with big suitcases.

I stayed in the Cumberland Hotel on 27th and 28th October. For my Graduation as it was very near within walking distance of the Usher Hall. I was in room number 1, which is a ground floor room, it had all facilities, very comfortable double bed, hairdryer TV and tea and coffee facilities, topped up daily, also ensuite had a shower which I like, temp was adjustable, room key also opened front door so did not have to disturb anyone to get in at night. Food I had booked bed and breakfast I was asked on arrival to say what type of breakfast I wanted either continental or cooked I requested cooked breakfast. It was cooked while you waited so was hot, and the rest was buffet style so there was fruit juice, cereals, toast tea coffee, yoghurts and fruit on this, also boiled and scrambled eggs were here as well. this was served between 7 and 9 am. Staff were polite and very helpful. Staying here was a fantastic way to celebrate my Graduation, check in is from 3pm to 10pm,, checkout is 11am which is nice and meant that I could go to Princes Street when shops had opened after checkout on the Sunday. I am glad I chose this hotel and will definitely book it again, especially if I want to go to a late night show as busses stop directly opposite the hotel when coming from princes street, and its just about two doors away for regular buses to princes street and from Airport Patricia.

A few issues with my second visit. No booking as computers had been upgraded the same day I book through Agoda.. took about 20 mins to sort out. Once sorted we received our room card which when we got to the room the key card didn’t work, my husband went back to reception to advise them to sort it out, he arrived back to the third floor to find out the key still did not work. This was done three times and still didn’t work for us to be then moved rooms to the forth floor, by this point it kind of ruined our romantic weekend we had planned. Once we got settled in everything was okay apart from a chip out of the bath & the toilet seat chipped. The next day we arrived at breakfast to find out the reservation wasn’t made even when we told the receptionist that we would like breakfast. We finally got breakfast which was good but they had run out of glasses for the juice there was no individual butters and the table we got wasn’t cleaned. Overall the hotel is a great location.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend and it was ideally located. Not too far from the centre, maybe around a 15 20 minute walk and also there are many local shops, takeaways and a Tesco express literally 1 minute away. Check in was quick and the lady at check in gave us a map and gave us information on transport information to get to certain attractions if we didn't want to walk. The room was spacious and had a wardrobe for our clothes which also has a safe inside it. A nice big mirror with a chair and table. Kettle, cups, tea, coffee, biscuits and even bottled water. For the price we paid which was £120 for 2 nights for a weekend I doubt you will find anything better and as close to the centre. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of visiting Edinburgh. Anyone driving to the hotel may want to know that there's limited public parking spaces right outside. It is free after 6:30pm and Sundays are free.

Quite satisfied with the rooms and restaurant. Lift was out of order the whole weekend, my wife is semi-invalid, both nearly 80 yr old, booked on the third floor no offer to carry our luggage upstairs. Only offered ground floor after complaining. The car park was also closed from midnight Sun for repairs so forced to use public parking, still no activity in the car park at 0900 when we booked out. Surely a lift technician could have been called out to attend to the lift. Will we use the hotel again????

Fantastic accommodation for the price. Ideally located immediately adjacent Haymarket train station, airport tram & bus links, and local bars and restaurants. The adjoining Guards Club bar has limited choice, but has lots of Guards history and friendly staff so it's worth a visit. Having arrived by train it was a perfect overnight stop before continuing my journey the next day. It's worth noting that the reception is not 24hrs, so if you're arriving very late or very early you may need to work this out in advance with the hotel.
