I had second thoughts about this hotel when I booked due to various negative comments. However My wife an I stayed in a double room with private bathroom for 10 nights. My primary purpose was attending a conference at Moscone Centre, and also sight seeing in and around SFO. Following are our experience No bed bugs, bed was fully comfortable. Bed is not Queen size, but enough for a couple Bed linen and towels were clean and changed daily. Hotel staff was friendly and courteous. They allowed a early check-in (since the room was available). There were homeless people in the roads around, but this was a issue in entire city, not specific to this hotel. Also they were harmless. I even walked in the streets alone very late at night. Transport was very convenient, BART is just next to hotel. Busses and trams available just in front of hotel. Moscone centre was walking distance. However Uber parks on the road behind the hotel. Airport shuttle from the hotel was very convenient and was cheap.

We booked the Griffon for our first few days in California, and having stayed there we booked it again for our last days (in between we did a road trip) because it was pretty much perfect for us. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the 'Ferry Building' which is a 'must visit' destination but also a great place to go for coffee, lunch, dinner, etc. and one and a half blocks from 'Market Street' which is probably the biggest shopping street, which also takes you to the cable car turnaround and so on. You can easily (and very happily/pleasantly) walk all the way around 'fisherman's wharf' from the Griffon. The front desk staff and concierge were all lovely and helpful. One big plus is the on-site bar/restaurant, Perry's. Perry's seem to have a few bar/restaurants in San Francisco and must have some sort of agreement to operate in the Griffon and it's a plus over most 'in-house' operators, and is also very much a destination for people not staying in the hotel, somewhere you feel comfortable having breakfast, sitting at the bar with a beer and a meal, sitting in the dining area having a couple or friends or family dinner, we found it ideal. The bedrooms are on the small side but this seems to be the norm in San Francisco, and you don't *need* more space, that's just a nice to have. Be aware that the vanity unit/washbasin is in the bedroom (well in our room it was, it's not universal), not in the bathroom, which is a little 'unusual' but didn't mar the stay for us. The aircon was good, the shower good, the usual flat screen TV etc. Many people moan there are 'too many homeless people in this area' when reviewing San Fran hotels, but I didn't find this to be the case around the Griffon, I think you'll encounter that if you are right on the tourist streets rather than two blocks off. The pricing was also pretty good compared to San Fran norms, I wouldn't call the Griffon cheap, not at all by 'other places standards' but for San Fran it's very reasonable. I kn

If you can do without free wifi in your room and don't intend to drive, this hotel is great. Valet parking costs 59 per night before tax, but being unfamiliar with the city we decided to use it. The rooms are very clean as with all hotels I've stayed in the states. The hotel lobby and rooms are tastefully decorated. We visited the Golden Gate Bridge using their public transport system, and the bus stops are on the same street outside the hotel. There are also numerous dining places to choose from near the hotel. We checked out in the evening of 4th of July, and thinking that there would be a jam, overestimated the time to get to the airport. We ended up reaching the airport within 15 minutes instead of the budgeted 3 hours, and waited at the airport for more than 6 hours. There were no jams, no road closures or block-ups from the hotel to the airport despite it being Independence Day. Should have used the hotel pool or checked out the restaurant, maybe even time for both. We were in transit to SFO after visiting a few national parks in the other states, and sadly the only amenities we used were the room itself. I heard there was free coffee at the lobby area but we didn't find it.

hotel location is only 5-8 minutes walk from powell st. bart station, i was told the nearby shopping mall is one of the best. i saw allt he nice brands diesel, gap and a lot others right on the powell street, a lot of good restaurants on street missions, too. muni, bart to every part of the city is minutes away on powell st.. super convenient for sightseeing plans. hotel itself is cool. staff are friendly, professional and generous to help with every single smallest request. i had very good experience with housekeeping, frontdesk (checkin/out), concierge, luggage storage, valet people there, they are so cheerful, warmhearted and energetic, offering me a very good start/finish of a day. room is big, bathroom and bed settings are sweet and neat -- only thing i wished to have is a couple free tv channels, shows or movies to enjoy the huge plasma tv a a couple minutes. in-room bar is cute and well-organized, complimentary coffee from machine with take-away cups is very considerate. restaurant luce downstairs is actually a michelin rated one; plus i heard gym opens 24hrs which makes it even better. didn't have time to check these out but the hotel will be top of my list when i re-visit sf.

this place puts in the lil extras that make you want to come back. a little pricey, but the staff, decor & the people that stay there make you wonder why you ever considered anywhere else. only negative for me is the check in time. if it were at noon i would havedone so much more in that hotel. room service was phenomenal even the maintainence guy was fast & efficient. i just probably won't ever use agoda again ever.

Breakfast was surprisingly quite good. The egg dishes were "real", fresh, tasty, chobani yogurt, oatmeal and all you need for it such as craisins, yummy waffles, nice, fresh fruit-bananas, apples, oranges-, fruit salad, fresh fruit juices, coffee very good, selection of teas and hot chocolate mix, pastries, especially the scones. Location is very good, 10 minutes max walk to Union Square, 5 minutes to awesome Westfield Mall, and tons of stores on Market Street, 5 minutes to BART station: very easy, fast-30 minutes- and cheap way to get to airport, one way: $ 9.65 Yes, there are homeless like so many other places in S.F. but they were no bother.

this was our first time in san francisco and our travel agent spent hours searching for the right hotel and the best rate. he knoes san francisco well and found the westin san francisco market street hotel, a 5* hotel, in a wonderful location. we were more than happy with this hotel, the facilities and friendliness of the staff. and the rate we paid through adoga was approx per night room only, so when you see it grad it as it sells out fast, and lesser hotels in quality and star rating cost a lot more. so, in a nutshell, great location, great room and bathroom and great rate. highly recommend.

Desmond is the least expensive choice for you. The room is quite small and you've gotta share the bathroom. But it doesn't matter to me coz I spend all day out. The most advantage of this hotel is the location. It's very convenient to go everywhere. Just walk one block to the Market Ave and you can take bus, bart, or cable car to explore the city. There is a best Vietnamese restaurant in town which is just a few steps walk from the hotel.

We were able to get right to the room fairly easily for the 80. I was stressing over the room because of all the lower reviews I have read. I thought it was going to be another south end mission street disaster. It was not! free parking, very cute and clean rooms, privacy, quiet neighbors, one of the biggest bathrooms I've seen for the price (I've been in places where it seems that you can barely get the door closed becasue the toilet is so close to the doorway.). a breakfast place just down the street, market only a few blocks north. you can walk anywhere from here (and we did), or you can take the buses if you feel adventurous. loved my mini vacation! will stay here again next time.

not easy to find something in this price range so close to downtown s.f. market street, muni, bart are all in walking distance. we took a taxi from the airport but if you want to save money, ride the bart up to civic center and walk the two blocks to the hotel down 8th. soma used to be a bit derelict but is developing into a hip corner of town with nice bars and restaurants, some very close to the hotel on folsom. (we didn't take advantage of that too much with children, though.) rooms are clean and well-kept though not overly fancy or spacious. coming back from a road trip with 2+ weeks of camping out, however, a solid bed was most we desired.

No lift, so all heavy bags I had to carry up the stairs. Room was small but for that cash, it is satisfactory even though later I stayed in a much better hotel nearby for less amount. Common toilet so the cleanliness was questionable even though it's not the hotel's fault. The odd thing is there was some kind of unpleasant smell in the room even though I got adjusted to it after 1 to 2 hours.

The hotel overall is excellent. Big clean and modern rooms with comfy beds. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Location is good to access all directions to main places. You may ask for a room in the higher floors because there are major constructions works inside and outside the hotel that lower floors can be noisy in the morning. We were lucky that no constructions work during weekends where our visit was.

We traveled from far abroad for a couple days in SF and stumbled across Zelos through our online research. The reviews were high but in no way true to the experience we had. Don't be fooled; this hotel should receive 10/10 rating. We were blown away by the every aspect of our stay from quality of the room, cleanliness, customer service, staff attitude and one of the most strategic location in the city. Special shoutout to Michael who checked us in on the night of our arrival. He is a very good person with a big heart who went the extra mile to make sure we had the best possible stay. He deserves a recognition.

Excellent location, right next to Westfield shopping centre and many other shops, with both designer labels and staple sportswear brands nearby. Follow Market St all the way East and you arrive at the Ferry Building (approx 20-30 min walk) which is a lovely spot to grab lunch or snacks in a 'food market' style place. Breakfast was not included in the rate, which suited me fine as there are numerous places nearby to grab a full on breakfast or just coffee and pastries. The on-site Cavalier restaurant does a good job for breakfast too (though it's not cheap). The hotel itself is practically brand new, and has a pretty arty/trendy feel to it. The bedrooms are adequately sized and the design element makes it feel quite light and airy (if you get an outward facing room with a window). All in all, a great place to stay in SF.
