"Considering this hotel is in the Tenderloin District (well I'd say the boarder of it) it was a pretty decent hotel for an affordable price. The hotel is in one of the best convenient locations which have everything at your doorstep without being too congested or noisy. You have the BART (Powell St Station), the MUNI and Cable Carts within 2 blocks from the hotel. It's also extremely close to shops such as Macy's, Bloomingdale and Nordstrom which is a shoppers dream having everything pretty much at your door step. The only downer would be the slow elevator. There is only one and you can find yourself waiting a while. Another downer is the homeless people around the area but I found that you found this all over San Francisco. Also if you treat them with a little respect they will tend to be friendly back. As a single female traveler I had no issue with this nor felt scared compared to some other areas of Tenderloin. The hotel does have small rooms however I've stayed in much smaller. I also don't tend to spend my entire time in the hotel room so this did not both us at all. The beds were comfortable, linen was clean, the showers had great pressure and were hot. The internet speed was amazingly fast too. Would I stay here again? For sure!! I actually had booked this hotel for 3 nights and had to come back to San Francisco for my last night so I re-booked this hotel for my last day in San Francisco. If I come back I'd definitely stay here again."

"I've stayed at the Union Square Plaza Hotel a number of times and each time I'm thoroughly satisfied. The hotel has one of the best locations in the city for Union Square and for the price you cannot beat it. The staff has always been polite, understanding, and flexible. The only drawback is that many of the rooms have different sized bathrooms. For me and my travel companions that was not a problem, but if you like a large bathroom, occasionally the Union Square Plaza Hotel will provide you with a small (and I mean small) bathroom. Otherwise, it is a great place to stay for a price you absolutely cannot beat. "

"Stayed here before I flew out and had a lovely stay - every staff member I encounted was so kind and attentive. I was upgraded to a King Room as my booking company stuffed up the booking and then there was a slight booking error with the system and someone thought their room was mine knocking and reception were so apologetic and gave me a free dink and food!! So kind. The room was immaculate clean and spacious - one of my best days and definitely recommend it! Location is also walking distance to all the main sights!"

"I stayed at Hotel Nikko recently for three nights. I’ve stayed in San Francisco to visit our daughter many times, typically at the Westin St Francis. For this stay, I decided to try Hotel Nikko and am so glad I did! The room I had was beautifully appointed, the staff, from the front desk to the doorman and housekeeping were incredibly helpful, fun and thoughtful. I stopped by the front desk to let them know that they had made this stay one of the best San Francisco experiences I’ve ever had in the city. The hotel is modern, the elevators swift, the staff delightful and helpful without being intrusive, the rooms so quiet and comfortable, the location so convenient to everything downtown - just a fabulous experience for a visitor to this lovely city. They represent the best this city has to offer. I’ve found a new favorite and will definitely stay here when next I visit! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting! Thank you Hotel Nikko!"

"Being fortunate to live only a few hours from San Francisco, I have had the luxury of staying overnight in the city many, many times over the years. I've stayed at 1. 2 3 and 4 star locations, I've stayed near the airport, near the ocean, up high and down low. We usually end up near Union Square as it is a central location to most of the popular neighborhoods; you can easily walk to Chinatown, North Beach and the Wharf are a good walk or a short taxi or cable car ride away, and most of the city's public transportation is close by. That being said, there are some hotels near Union Square that I'd be a bit concerned about staying at. The internet along with TA and Agoda now give us, the traveler, a way to narrow down our choices and remove those questionable hotels from our list. Once you weed out the chaff you find the gems, The Inn at Union Square is one of those masterpieces. The staff at this hotel work so hard to keep you, the guest happy. I must single out Anna, on our most recent stay, who bent over backwards to take care of my wife and I on our recent anniversary stay. Amazing people at an amazing hotel in an amazing city!"

"I had a great time in SF. My weekend almost got ruined by another guest who stayed in a room adjacent to mine. This individual stole my wallet and caused a scene with his guests while I confronted him regarding the incident. I notified hotel staff who went above and beyond to help me. Long story short I was able to get my wallet with a few missing things but the most important items were still there. The security staff helped out and also the front desk personal. This incident could have changed how I felt about SF but it played out as best possible which I think it's because of the hotel and its staff. Unfortunately there are some individuals who choose to commit crimes while people are enjoying themselves. Overall I had a great time and would recommend the hotel. "

"I stayed for 6 days, and I appreciated! I mean, I don't understand why many of people here expect such a very high standard from what you would pay here. You can't compare to other 5-star hotel while you wanna pay this price don't you? so this is my opinion and i really wanna share so you can decide carefully. the location is good. it's next to china town and to metro just 10 mins. if you got many stuffs, there is an airport shuttle bus then, 9 dollars. and what I like is it isn't located in very downtown, i mean if you travel alone and don't like crowded people, this is a good choice for location. and nothing bad happened to me. hopeless people are much more in downtown, not here. about the complain over the bathroom and cleanliness. it's share in the hall way, i know the hall way is a bit creepy because of interior design but all safe. it's share but it's very separated. there is hot water for you. and it's dirty because of visitors, mates always make it cleaned every day. so what are you guys blaming for? the room is very small but it's all you want. there is a big hotel you can stay all day. but this one is for traveler. for those who just back sleep at the night and ready to go at the morning. only one thing is would complain for the room here is mosquitoes in my room. i gotta kill 2-4 of them every night. most of all, i really appreciated their warm welcome. they always responded when I talked or asked. the only mistake they made is the poor on managing just sometimes. so I hope this would help you decide.
