Hotels near Library of Birmingham

We had an executive room, which gave us access to the executive lounge. This was fabulous value as free drinks and canapés are served from 6-9pm. Rofuto restaurant was very impressive and breakfast the next morning was one of the best we've had at any hotel. It's a bit of a walk to Birmingham New Street, 15 mins or so, but an über taxi cost less than £3.50. I'd put the hotel at more of a 5 star than a 4. Much more luxurious than the other 4 star Birmingham hotels we've stayed in.

The Bloc Hotel was easy to find. I sought directions from the Security Guard at Tesco Metro Temple St. I got to Snow hill train station. As advised I got some more directions. Don't be wary- the people of Birmingham are always friendly. The walk from Birmingham New Street station took about 10 minutes. The hotel is in the Jewellery Quarter and I don't know this part of Birmingham . The area was clean and pleasant. Next time I am staying in Birmingham. I intend on staying at the Bloc Hotel again, and try the eateries near by. The hotel staff were friendly and polite and helped me with my enquiries 're taxi fares and the location of the ironing room. My room didn't have a window but this is a plus when you've been out till the early morning. No sunlight interrupting my sleep! The room was warm and comfy and it did the job on the tin. Hotel is rather unusual being located in the middle of the Irish quarter of Birmingham. Although it is good for being only a 20 minute walk from New Street and the city centre so easily reachable, the walk is through a somewhat run down industrial areas so not recommended for single lone female or those of a sensitive disposition (get a taxi or the bus runs a couple of blocks away). On the other hand, I was given a very comfortalbe standard double which was newly refurbished, the paint was still almost wet, all bathroom shower fittings new, looking over a park area. It makes a very convenient one night stop over.

The hotel is situated strategically in the heart if Birmingham city with close proximity to the council house and public library. There is a street with many restaurants and shops nearby. The train station is within 6-8minutes walking tine and provides easy access to city peripheral. The property is clean with sheets crisps and whites that lives up to its 5-star mark. Overall, i woukd rate the experience awesome !!!

I was with my family ( all girls and a young child ) checking out from hotel heading to London. We have a few big luggages and shopping begs to carry and we were on our way to the nearest train station. The front desk staff saw us in this situation and in his first intention he showed us short cut by leading us to the back door. This little action has saved us a lot of time and energy. As such, we managed to get to the train on time once we reached train station. Or else, we will need to wait for the next train probably in 20 minutes to half an hour. By the time we reached London, it was before 11pm. I'm sure if this staff didn't show us the short cut, we will be late for the train, late to reach london, late to check in hotel in London. If I come to Birmingham again, this hotel is going to be the first one I will check for free rooms. I went there after studying the city map a bit, and because the price was reduced (around 80 EUR per night). I had a room with a king size bed (absolutely comfortable) on the 7th floor. This leads to my perhaps only point of criticism, namely I wasn't able to lower the temperature in the room to below something like 23-25 degrees, although I set the AC to 16 degrees. (Windows can't be opened.) A receptionist told me that it may have been due to the location under the roof, and the sun operating. Well, maybe; most of the time it was sunny indeed. I didn't use the spa facilities nor the breakfast (but I did use the Starbucks in the lobby and was satisfied). The location was perfect to me for two reasons: it's very close to the city centre, and to the New Street train station, which is 9 minutes of a train ride away from the Airport station, and 7 minutes from the University station (my conference was at the Edgbaston campus). Of great value for a conference-goer was the electric iron and the complimentary tea/coffee in the room. The hotel also had socket adapters that I could borrow (I forgot mine from the Continent), and separate USB charger sockets (perfect idea). I missed some shelf space a bit, but was able to use my suitcase as an ersatz set of shelves... Needed to re-log to the wi-fi all too often (that was a bit irritating). A supermarket is a few steps away, and there is a variety of restaurants to choose from, in the vicinity. The picturesque canal district is a few minutes away. All the staff were absolutely polite and helpful.

We stayed ree nights here to attend the wedding of my wife's niece. The hotel room is big and clean but a bit dated. The reception lounge was modern and nicely decorated with seating sofa and chairs. As hotel guests, we were charged about 9 pound per head for a good buffet breakfast by paying one day in advance, very good value. The city centre is within walking distance by walking eastwards, passing the Symphony Hall, the Library and the Town Hall. After twn hall, there are many shops and eating places. The hotel is situated in the partying area of the riverside. There are also many pubs and restaurants between the hotel and the canal.Hotel parking is expensive though at 14 pound for overnight up to 24 hours, but separate charges for different entries. So for the second day, we parked at the private carpark next to the hotel at 8 pound for 24 hours with multiple entries.

what a find, this hotel is managed incredibly well, all the staff have a view "can do" attitude. based in the heart of birmingham city in the chinese district, all the shopping you can handle at the bull ring, i left my wife to shop while i attended business at the nec she was overwhelmed with the quality of shops and markets. dinner was a breeze, every style of food possible within 10 mins from hotel. i normally stay at a 4* 10 mins away but will return next opportunity. take the wife most shops are reduced costs against london south (earn brownie points)

Our second stay at MacDonald UK is impressive and very enjoyable. This is my first stay at MacDonald Burlington Birmingham, Great Hotel! Unique! Overall service is very pleasant, English breakfast is excellent. This hotel is very suitable to traveller not only business and also for pleasure. It is only 10 minutes walk from new street rail station. It is also is easy to find the hotel from the fascinating city center of Birmingham. More surprises are all city attractions are nearby and in walking distance.

The Hotel still feels new and crisp, the rooms are excellent with clean, crisp linen, neat furnishings and a decent sized shower. The ONLY drawback of this compact hotel was that they don't do early book-ins, even after I mentioned that my flight would land 7:10am and that I would want to book in at 7:45am, they merely mentioned that they could only accommodate me at 15:00! Luckily a room went open two hours and the receptionist could assist me. Other than that the stay was pleasant, affordable and quaint.

I booked and paid in full for a one night stay to attend my Daughter's graduation. On my way to Birmingham I received a phone call to say that the hotel through a "technical issue" was overbooked and they were moving me to an alternative outside the centre. This was not acceptable and I asked them if there was nothing in the centre of Birmingham he said no. To cut a long story straight through Agoda I found another room at an alternative hotel just down the road. So when the receptionist at the AC said there was no rooms available in Birmingham he obviously hadn't tried looking very hard.

Situated on Broad Street in the heart of Birmingham, the hotel location is excellent. It has a car park too (chargeable). The rooms are relatively small but well appointed unless you specifically require a bath. Self service buffet breakfast is included and has all you might need but the cooked items suffer from the problems with most pre-cooked buffets. Good value and comfortable B&B experience in an excellent location.

Unfortunate that they had a broken smoke alarm on the first night of our stay meaning we were woken up every couple of hours. However they refunded the cost of that night fully and staff were very friendly and competent dealing with the fallout. Good location, very clean. Food options not great, but it's an express option. Still greasy wedges or a slize of pizza the only options apart from the vending machine during the day. Didnt try the dinner menu. Breakfast was OK, cereal boxes, toast, yoghurt or eggs and sausage. The coffee from the machines is dire, but that's probably UK wide problem not just here.

very affordable price, fully equipped kitchenette has more types of cutlery and equipment than my own kitchen at home, free self service laundry makes it so convenient as we didnt have to bring loads of luggage with us, sumptuous breakfast every morning, free flow of self service tea, coffee, water and hot chocolate at the lounge area all day long. Location is so central - 5 mins walk from central train station, in major shopping district, all types of food available.

We arrived at about 6.30 to check in, this was completed quickly. We were advised not to put out room card near our mobile, which we immediately forgot and then couldn't get in the lift. The receptionist sorted this straight away. The rooms are big, bright and clean and the bathroom was a good size with a big shower. The location isn't the best in birmingham and it's a good 20 mins walk to broad street however we were going to the jam house which was literally around the corne so was ideal for us. We were advised to be up early if we didn't want to queue for the buffet breakfast. We went down for 8.40 till about 9.15 and there was no queue. There was plenty of choice if foods, juices and drinks. Check out wasn't till 12 so we could take time getting ready and then reception called us a taxi and advised us how much it should cost to get back to the station

This hotel is fantastic in terms of location. Right next to the New Street train station, it is very central and just right for commuting by train. The shopping center Pallasades is just at the train station and has a good mix of shops. It also connects to the Bullring. Hotel is comfortable. Has a quaint old fashioned lift. Rooms are spacious, bathroom adequate. First room i stayed had pretty noisy bathroom exhaust fan, second room was fine. Friendly and helpful service by reception. Would stay again and again!
