Hotels near People's Square and Park

Jasmine Palace Hotel was officially opened on 17th Sept 2015. It is relatively new, compared to other hotels along the road. This is a 100% smoke-free hotel, I believe this is one of the reasons why the air still smells fresh and clean after nine months since its opening. We had a premier room on the 13th floor, facing the Schwedagon Golden Pagoda. The room was spectacularly spacious even after having an extra bed in the room. Staffs were attentive, helpful and efficient. Concierge and front desk staffs are able to speak moderately good English. Communication wasn't a problem at all in the Hotel. One of the concierge staffs, Mr. Ye Lin (which means Red Light in Burmese), helped us several times negotiating for very reasonable taxi fares to our destinations. Just in case you are not aware, all taxis in Yangon do not have a meter. Travellers need to negotiate on the fare before getting on one. Not all taxi drivers understand English, but some do speak both Chinese and English. The lowest taxi fare is 1500ks from the hotel to a nearby shopping mall, example Junction Square. Breakfast was served in the coffee house (Empress Restaurant & Bar), located on the 21st floor, highest floor of the hotel. The view from the coffee house was fascinating. One can easily view the dazzling skyline of Yangon and enjoy the good sunlight while having breakfast here. We also visited the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, which served scrumptious dishes. I must compliment one of the waiters named Mr. Hanlay, who was very attentive and well-mannered. Beside the fact that there are lots of houseflies at the hotel’s lobby waiting area, there’s really nothing one can complain about. The overall experience staying in Jasmine Palace Hotel was a great one.

We booked the Family Executive Suite and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the Suite was. Aside from a king size bed, there was also a separate bedroom with a single bed and 2 toilets. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially in recommending places to eat and the location of the hotel is very close to the Shwedagon Padoga and People's Park. The only negative thing would be that the wifi only worked on the first day of our stay, due to server problems, however it is probably something that is beyond the control of the hotel management.

We originally booked for a few days but just extended our stay to 2 weeks. The rooms are excellent value for money - brand new western standard hotel room with comfy beds, hot water and great pressure, fridge, AC. very clean, daily housekeeping. Breakfast I'd also great value, choice of your style of eggs, noodles, soup, vegetable, toast, butter & jam, coffee and tea. Definitely a rare find at this budget. The location is in San Chaung close to numerous restaurants, groceries 24h at City Mart 10 min walk, 15 min walk to closest train station for cicular train, 15 min walk to People's park and 25 min walk to the pagoda. I truly enjoy the neighborhood. It can be loud a bit at night because of all the dogs but so is the rest of Yangon. We had a few issues, as any new hotel can experience and Harry, the ops manager, was extremely helpful and always eager to see how he could make us feel more comfortable. Overall great value for money. We saw numerous hotels downtown but decided to stay here, most hotels at 30$ offer a run down bathroom, poor matresss and poor choice of breakfast. Worth being away form downtown and it's easily accessible anyhow.

This hotel was the best hotel I stayed in while on holiday in Myanmar. They were running a promotion since they are renovating so I got a great deal. Only $14 US. Usually $35. The hotel was super clean with a friendly staff. Although they don’t speak much English. With the little English they knew they were able to help me get to the Golden rock temple. They were so kind and generous. The room was impeccable. The most comfortable bed I’ve slept in, in at least a year while traveling across Southeast Asia for the past 3 years. Cold AC, hot shower, 2 bottles of free water, and 2 free coffee packets. No free breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a farmers market. Also full of shopping. It’s only a 25 minute walk to the famous Swedagon temple. People’s Park, and the Thai Embassy if you are getting a visa for Thailand. Highly recommend. Even when they go back to their regular pricing.

We visited Wai wai's three times during our almost 4 weeks in Myanmar. At the start and end of our holiday and after a visit to the south. The rooms were clean, simple and comfortable. The simple wet room bathroom, clean, and showers hot. Breakfasts on the lovely fifth floor roof terrace were generous and tasty. The location was great for the swedagon and nearby parks and the local streets full of life, markets, monks, shoppers . And with a taxi rank just around the corner taking you anywhere for $3 a much quieter choice than the city centre. This hotel has rooms on floors 1 to 4 and the terrace restaurant on the 5 th. This means stairs, I managed even with dodgy knees but this hotel would not be suitable for people with mobility issues.

We only stayed one night at Hotel Mila Noa but everything was excellent and even the staff went beyond fantastic to accommodate our needs. Firstly, getting to the Hotel from the airport can be tricky as even the taxi drivers can't locate the place exactly. Just a tip, just inform them it's near Dagon Center and you'll find it on a block across it inside an alley full of small local restaurants. Building is color purple so you'll spot it easily. The staff were excellent especially Ella. All of them were very informative about the city and always willing to help with a smile. Some staff are not very fluent in english but there will always be one on station that is adept in english. As I've said, we only booked for one night, we arrived on a Friday, and left Saturday evening for the rest of our Myanmar trip. We went back to Yangon after 6 days away and we are allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel. Even allowed us to use the bathroom on the ground floor to refresh ourselves after a long bus trip from Nyaung Shwe. Also able to use wifi at the lobby while waiting for our flight. They even called taxi for us going to the airport and highway bus terminal at a decent price 6,000 kyats. Rooms are spacious enough and clean. Location is OK. Tricky to find at first but can get used to. Near Shwedagon Pagoda but still have to take taxi. There's a convenience store near in front. Breakfast is plated and decent. Wifi is great for Myanmar standards. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others. Excellent.
