Find hotels in San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)

I came to San Francisco with four companions. First of, the man who helped us check in was super nice and upgraded us from shared bathroom to private for no additional fee. The room wasn't too big but very nice interior and comfortable beds and the bathroom was nice as well. Also the hotel was well located for shopping, and the transport to "Pier 39" and "Fishermans Wharf" was just across the street. Only bad was that there were a lot of homeless around, which was a little intimidating later on the evening. Overall a good stay.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the Mosser Hotel, to say the least. Being on a budget, I chose the Mosser because it was more economical than other hotels in the same prime location of Union Square. Upon arriving very late at night, 11pm, I immediately noticed that the hotel is in an extremely safe and busy, lit-up area. The door was opened for me and my sister by a security guard inside the hotel, which put me more at ease. The lobby is very modern, unique, and clean, and I immediately knew I had chosen a wonderful hotel. I was initially very skeptical about sharing a "community bathroom" with the rest of the floor, but to my surprise, this did not deter from my experience whatsoever. The "community bathroom" is simply a very nice and clean granite-lined shower a few doors down (that I never had to wait for) and a private clean single bathroom stall (that I also never waited on). The room has a nice-sized sink, so most bathroom business can be done right in the room. Let's just say that the bathroom facilities were quite nice and kept cleaner than my own bathroom at home. Although the room was small as expected, it was all the space I needed. I did not feel crunched. The bed was quite comfortable and nicely decorated. The sink included a number of small items such as toothpaste, nasal strips, a shower caddy, a shower cap, and soap. Unfortunately, our view was of a dark brick wall, but that is to be expected in a large city like San Francisco. The staff was quite friendly. They gave me a travel-sized wine bottle opener and even opened the bottle for me when it was too difficult for me. When I was checking out, the only staff member behind the desk was busy with guests, and another member immediately jumped behind the desk to tend to me. Overall, I had a superb stay at the Mosser. We booked the Griffon for our first few days in California, and having stayed there we booked it again for our last days (in between we did a road trip) because it was pretty much perfect for us. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the 'Ferry Building' which is a 'must visit' destination but also a great place to go for coffee, lunch, dinner, etc. and one and a half blocks from 'Market Street' which is probably the biggest shopping street, which also takes you to the cable car turnaround and so on. You can easily (and very happily/pleasantly) walk all the way around 'fisherman's wharf' from the Griffon. The front desk staff and concierge were all lovely and helpful. One big plus is the on-site bar/restaurant, Perry's. Perry's seem to have a few bar/restaurants in San Francisco and must have some sort of agreement to operate in the Griffon and it's a plus over most 'in-house' operators, and is also very much a destination for people not staying in the hotel, somewhere you feel comfortable having breakfast, sitting at the bar with a beer and a meal, sitting in the dining area having a couple or friends or family dinner, we found it ideal. The bedrooms are on the small side but this seems to be the norm in San Francisco, and you don't *need* more space, that's just a nice to have. Be aware that the vanity unit/washbasin is in the bedroom (well in our room it was, it's not universal), not in the bathroom, which is a little 'unusual' but didn't mar the stay for us. The aircon was good, the shower good, the usual flat screen TV etc. Many people moan there are 'too many homeless people in this area' when reviewing San Fran hotels, but I didn't find this to be the case around the Griffon, I think you'll encounter that if you are right on the tourist streets rather than two blocks off. The pricing was also pretty good compared to San Fran norms, I wouldn't call the Griffon cheap, not at all by 'other places standards' but for San Fran it's very reasonable. I kn

I was immediately impressed with The Palace hotel. As soon as we walk by reception and saw the dining room our jaws dropped. High ceilings filled with gorgeous timeless peices of furniure. The light filled the room making it look even bigger than it probably was. The staff were incredibly friendly and always offering to help with info or travel suggestions. If I ever go back to San Francisco, I will definately stay at The Palace again.

We were quite impressed with our stay at the Intercontinental San Francisco Hotel. Located only a few blocks from the main precinct of Union Square, all the shops and restaurants were only a short walk away. Also the public transport (trams, buses, etc) from nearby Market Street made trips to the pier quite easy. We were lucky to receive a room upgrade upon arrival, in which we were more than comfortable in our spacious room and bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Breakfast was surprisingly quite good. The egg dishes were "real", fresh, tasty, chobani yogurt, oatmeal and all you need for it such as craisins, yummy waffles, nice, fresh fruit-bananas, apples, oranges-, fruit salad, fresh fruit juices, coffee very good, selection of teas and hot chocolate mix, pastries, especially the scones. Location is very good, 10 minutes max walk to Union Square, 5 minutes to awesome Westfield Mall, and tons of stores on Market Street, 5 minutes to BART station: very easy, fast-30 minutes- and cheap way to get to airport, one way: $ 9.65 Yes, there are homeless like so many other places in S.F. but they were no bother.

this was our first time in san francisco and our travel agent spent hours searching for the right hotel and the best rate. he knoes san francisco well and found the westin san francisco market street hotel, a 5* hotel, in a wonderful location. we were more than happy with this hotel, the facilities and friendliness of the staff. and the rate we paid through adoga was approx per night room only, so when you see it grad it as it sells out fast, and lesser hotels in quality and star rating cost a lot more. so, in a nutshell, great location, great room and bathroom and great rate. highly recommend.

I have been to San Francisco before but not stayed this part of town. Generally I think this hotel is great if you have a tight Budget but want to stay near the shopping area, the train stations and the bus stops. As I am a solo traveler, during the night (after dinner time), I did feel quite uncomfortable walking alone past the homeless people to the hotel from the shopping area. Otherwise I wouldn't mind coming back to this hotel as the people who run this place aren't rude and willing to help.

We were able to get right to the room fairly easily for the 80. I was stressing over the room because of all the lower reviews I have read. I thought it was going to be another south end mission street disaster. It was not! free parking, very cute and clean rooms, privacy, quiet neighbors, one of the biggest bathrooms I've seen for the price (I've been in places where it seems that you can barely get the door closed becasue the toilet is so close to the doorway.). a breakfast place just down the street, market only a few blocks north. you can walk anywhere from here (and we did), or you can take the buses if you feel adventurous. loved my mini vacation! will stay here again next time.

this hotel looked more like a youth hostel than a proper defined hotel....however, the staff was friendly and the room although somewhat gloomy, with a very small bathroom, was acceptably clean with a nice mini fridge and free strong wifi in the room. hower, the common computer in the small main area of the hotel, does not have a printer attached to it, so that if you need to print something, it will become an issue. also, unless you love to walk a lot, the hotel is 15 fast walking minutes to market street, the main downtown artery of san francisco. if you do not like to walk a lot, then i would suggest a more centrally located hotel. be aware however than sf is a very, very expensive city including hotel prices...so, if walking is not an issue, gloomy rooms, do not bother you, and want to be close to bars, this is a good place. last but not least, if you do go and stay here, make sure that you ask a room away from the attached bar, since the noise might be too much at night. my room was away from the bar and heard no noises whatsoever.

No lift, so all heavy bags I had to carry up the stairs. Room was small but for that cash, it is satisfactory even though later I stayed in a much better hotel nearby for less amount. Common toilet so the cleanliness was questionable even though it's not the hotel's fault. The odd thing is there was some kind of unpleasant smell in the room even though I got adjusted to it after 1 to 2 hours.

The hotel overall is excellent. Big clean and modern rooms with comfy beds. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Location is good to access all directions to main places. You may ask for a room in the higher floors because there are major constructions works inside and outside the hotel that lower floors can be noisy in the morning. We were lucky that no constructions work during weekends where our visit was.

We loved the Hotel Zelos. Nice rooms, hot showers and a great location and handy to everything in downtown San Francisco, Cable cars etc. It is easy access from the BART and you just go up the stair and come out out side.. A trader Joe grocery shop is next door, fantastic for food and bits and pieces. They also have access to a laundry which is super handy!.. we loved this hotel and will come back...just make sure you buy though agoda or the likes as it could be a bit pricey through the hotel booking.
