Service was lovely from the time I checked in and throughout my stay. During breakfast which was a bit expensive costing £18 , however there was a wide range of choice and the fact that it was as much as you can eat even better. The waiter Marcel was very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic. My room standard double room was very small but fine for me so if you want more space it may be better to pay for a deluxe double room instead. Bed is comfy. Shower was powerful , water nice and hot. My room should of had PowerPoint plug on each side of the bedside table that was my only gripe. The gym was functional, it's a shame this hotel doesn't have a pool and it's a shame that the robutu restaurant is closed as I was looking forward to that. Hotel reception is stunning, it's in a good location on broad street and not far from the bull ring shopping centre. Close by is fiveways Cineworld, Starbucks, Nandos, Five Guys, Creams dessert, Pure Gym and The Gym. Great hotel I will be returning!

This hotel rocks! What you see in the pics is what you get. No "we show you our best room and then you'll get nothing like this" scam. We've stayed there for 5 nights on our lazy vacation so we have been sleeping for hours and stayed in a lot. A huge, very comfy bed. QUIET room with nice view. Even though the room is small it's really comfy in general. Shower is very very nice. Staff was very nice as well. All that place is very modern and quiet, in nice neighbourhood, 15 minutes walk from the city centre (Bullring). Plenty of shops and cafes nearby. Vending machine in the lobby offers snacks and hot/cold drinks for a pound. The free Wifi is super fast and always works. The only small minus is that after long hot shower whole room gets really steamy. Also there is no place to put your things or bags but that is not really a big problem. It will definitely be my first choice for my next stay in Birmingham really soon!

We got this hotel very cheap for a one night stop over in Birmingham after a night at the glee club. For the price we paid (less than 30 pounds) we were happy with it, the room was basic but clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit tired and outdated in the corridors etc but for what we paid we couldn't really complain. You get what you pay for, if you just need somewhere to lay your head in Birmingham and aren't looking for the ritz then this is ideal. A twenty minute walk from new street and the bull ring, its not in the best area of Birmingham so I would maybe recommend getting a taxi late at night if you're on your own but we managed alright on a Friday night.

The hotel is situated strategically in the heart if Birmingham city with close proximity to the council house and public library. There is a street with many restaurants and shops nearby. The train station is within 6-8minutes walking tine and provides easy access to city peripheral. The property is clean with sheets crisps and whites that lives up to its 5-star mark. Overall, i woukd rate the experience awesome !!!

Travelling into Moor Street on the chiltern line from Stratford upon Avon the location of this hotel is perfect being next door to the station. It’s also right next to Selfridges and the Bull ring and now this is connected to the new street Grand central shopping centre with loads of shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is roomy, friendly well equipped and great value. We had a family impromptu night there for heating and showers when our boiler broke down. Fun was had by all four of us staying in the hotel and enjoying Birmingham. The hotel staff were so helpful finding rooms next door to each other so we could be close to our children. Thank you Clayton hotel team for helping us when we needed it! : ) lovely.

Only stayed for one night but wished it was longer. Bed was really comfortable, kitchen clean and well equipped. Washer and dryer room located on 1st floor, easy. Checking in and out were easy and fast. Hotel does not have parking. The nearest parking is just a couple of minutes walk away, which is part of the Bull Ring mall so be prepared to pay for the convenience. Would stay here again but maybe park elsewhere for a longer stay.

If I come to Birmingham again, this hotel is going to be the first one I will check for free rooms. I went there after studying the city map a bit, and because the price was reduced (around 80 EUR per night). I had a room with a king size bed (absolutely comfortable) on the 7th floor. This leads to my perhaps only point of criticism, namely I wasn't able to lower the temperature in the room to below something like 23-25 degrees, although I set the AC to 16 degrees. (Windows can't be opened.) A receptionist told me that it may have been due to the location under the roof, and the sun operating. Well, maybe; most of the time it was sunny indeed. I didn't use the spa facilities nor the breakfast (but I did use the Starbucks in the lobby and was satisfied). The location was perfect to me for two reasons: it's very close to the city centre, and to the New Street train station, which is 9 minutes of a train ride away from the Airport station, and 7 minutes from the University station (my conference was at the Edgbaston campus). Of great value for a conference-goer was the electric iron and the complimentary tea/coffee in the room. The hotel also had socket adapters that I could borrow (I forgot mine from the Continent), and separate USB charger sockets (perfect idea). I missed some shelf space a bit, but was able to use my suitcase as an ersatz set of shelves... Needed to re-log to the wi-fi all too often (that was a bit irritating). A supermarket is a few steps away, and there is a variety of restaurants to choose from, in the vicinity. The picturesque canal district is a few minutes away. All the staff were absolutely polite and helpful.

We stayed ree nights here to attend the wedding of my wife's niece. The hotel room is big and clean but a bit dated. The reception lounge was modern and nicely decorated with seating sofa and chairs. As hotel guests, we were charged about 9 pound per head for a good buffet breakfast by paying one day in advance, very good value. The city centre is within walking distance by walking eastwards, passing the Symphony Hall, the Library and the Town Hall. After twn hall, there are many shops and eating places. The hotel is situated in the partying area of the riverside. There are also many pubs and restaurants between the hotel and the canal.Hotel parking is expensive though at 14 pound for overnight up to 24 hours, but separate charges for different entries. So for the second day, we parked at the private carpark next to the hotel at 8 pound for 24 hours with multiple entries.

what a find, this hotel is managed incredibly well, all the staff have a view "can do" attitude. based in the heart of birmingham city in the chinese district, all the shopping you can handle at the bull ring, i left my wife to shop while i attended business at the nec she was overwhelmed with the quality of shops and markets. dinner was a breeze, every style of food possible within 10 mins from hotel. i normally stay at a 4* 10 mins away but will return next opportunity. take the wife most shops are reduced costs against london south (earn brownie points)

growing up in Birmingham, this hotel is a local institution and regarded as very 'posh'. It has many merits-a lovely building, well maintained and right in the heart of the city (literally next to the station). Although the staff were wonderful on one day-polite, helpful and friendly-when we arrived the staff member who checked us in was quite artificial in conversation, very abrupt and ignored us for the next day as we walked past the desk. One night all the fire alarms went off-we followed the evacuation route to a back alley! No one from the hotel checked we were OK and there was much confusion -we were sent back in with alarms still ringing, then evacuated a second time…the staff seemed ill prepared for an emergency and did not clearly communicate what was happening. Not very nice at 1 am! Didn't eat at the hotel as veggie options were unimaginative. We would not stay here again for the money charged but if you don't have dietary restrictions and want to be in a lovely building in the heart of town, it is still a fair option.

This was a fabulous hotel. The room was crisp, clean, with aircon ! Yay ! Needed it on a really hot day ! The beds were comfy with a choice of firm or soft pillows. Shower was easy to control but could have done with a bit more power. We were offered a room on the top floor which was great. Absolutely no disturbance at any point. The staff were all helpful and friendly, can't be faulted. After the concert we came back to the hotel and had drinks in the bar and a pizza. Thought the prices for a hotel were very reasonable. The hotel felt secure with a security guy on duty when we returned late Saturday evening, and keycards operating the lift going up. I would highly recommend this hotel for its central location, comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

Hotel is located just off Broad Street in a new modern leisure complex. Quiet location based around large amounts of bars and restaurants. Only a 15 minute walk to the Bull Ring shopping centre but quicker in a taxi if you don't like walking. Hotel is very clean with decent size rooms. The iMac in each room is a nice touch and general hotel setup is fantastic. Spent one night and will only stay in this hotel when in Birmingham.

I booked and paid in full for a one night stay to attend my Daughter's graduation. On my way to Birmingham I received a phone call to say that the hotel through a "technical issue" was overbooked and they were moving me to an alternative outside the centre. This was not acceptable and I asked them if there was nothing in the centre of Birmingham he said no. To cut a long story straight through Agoda I found another room at an alternative hotel just down the road. So when the receptionist at the AC said there was no rooms available in Birmingham he obviously hadn't tried looking very hard.

perfect place to stay. large modern room, super clean, beautiful bathroom and fittings, tv and large desk, internet sockets free wifi and sofa, the room was large! gym downstairs, fully equiped bar in reception and lounge area, perfect for either working or socialising in. the breakfast i have to say was the best break fast i have had in the uk, selection of teas, coffee, hot chocolates english cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toasts, croissant, muffins, cereals, preserves etc i would highly reccomend!!

I will admit that if I had not pre-paid this booking I would have not stayed there, because when you arrive the first thing you see is a 3 meter fence around the hotel, (which makes it look like a prison!) but don't worry once inside the staff are excellent and the facilities value for money. The hotel is only 5 minutes from China Town and 10 from the Bull Ring, if it's not raining you can walk to the ICC & NIA along the canal in around 20 minutes, so a very convenient place to stay.

Very good hotel with excellent location( but at first was difficult to find it). In the middle of city center! Very warm, quit, comfortable, with city view.. Use the kitchen in the room every day ( because we don't eat hot-dogs and hamburgers which we find in all bars) and the dishwasher was very useful! Supermarket with food is only any steps from hotel. Breakfast was good. Staff is very friendly.Recommend to all!! Can't say nothing bad.. Everything was perfect!!

We arrived at about 6.30 to check in, this was completed quickly. We were advised not to put out room card near our mobile, which we immediately forgot and then couldn't get in the lift. The receptionist sorted this straight away. The rooms are big, bright and clean and the bathroom was a good size with a big shower. The location isn't the best in birmingham and it's a good 20 mins walk to broad street however we were going to the jam house which was literally around the corne so was ideal for us. We were advised to be up early if we didn't want to queue for the buffet breakfast. We went down for 8.40 till about 9.15 and there was no queue. There was plenty of choice if foods, juices and drinks. Check out wasn't till 12 so we could take time getting ready and then reception called us a taxi and advised us how much it should cost to get back to the station

Good location right next to New Street Station, a friendly hotel which is like a low 3 star property. room size is good esp. bathroom and quiet if not facing street. staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a bar in hotel opened most nights. Near to many asian restaurants and handy for the markets/shopping. Good value for UK. Recommend for 2 pers. max per room. TV with Uk channels and tea/coffee making in room.
