Our stay at The Scotsman Hotel was the best foot put forward at the onset of our day one of UK tour.location could not have been better. The amenities in the room were as royal as the City of Edinburgh. My stay would not have been this positive, if not for the Hotel Manager at that time. Mr Grant went out of his way to make my son and I comfortable. He was polite, helpful and ready to walk the extra mile at being professional at work. Edinburgh and Hotel Scotsman Hotel make the same memory stamp in our minds. no one should think twice before booking any hotel for Edinburgh stay. thank you Mr Grant from the core of our hearts.

One of the best hotel i ever visited. Centrally located and very close to any main attraction in Edinburgh. We got upgraded to 3 bedroom and everything about it is perfect. All bedroom is fully furnished and heater in every room. The kitchen is also awesome which have everything we need to cook and also free bread and milk for our breakfast. There are also a dining room which you can use to eat with your big family. Besides the perfect facilities, the service from the staff is also good. Very heartwarming which represent Scottish hospitality. Overall this is a perfect stay for us and will be back to stay here again in the future.

Lovely, very stylish, small apartment (not a hotel "room"), with a beautiful bathroom and fully-stocked hyper-modern kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave. Great location on the Royal Mile, so perfect for tourists. I booked three months ago, and got what I think was a bargain rate (although it was a slow time of year, just after New Year.). I've stayed in 5 star hotels, and this was one of the best. Book early. Stayed 3 nights in Room 24.

We booked a three nights stay over New year to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a King size deluxe room with a great view of the castle. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and assisted us with any information we needed on the area to enhance our stay. The breakfast had a choice of continental or a hot breakfast items and was continuously being monitored so that items were replenished. The hotel was within easy walking access to all the main city centre attractions and shops, as well as restaurants and bars.

I arrived at 7.30am after a 30 hour flight and on arrival said I knew I was exceptionally early and if I could leave my bags. The staff insisted on arranging my room to be cleaned so I could shower and relax. I also had a booking the second night as a twin share under another friends name so they arranged the rooms to be the same. truely the best service I've yet to receive, especially as they proactively try to see where they can make you stay more convenient and enjoyable. The room size is very generous, with all the comforts such as pillow selection, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. The location can not be beat - on the royal mile, near the princess at bridge for those who love to shop. I've stayed in many 5 star hotels and this trumps most - and is only rated 4 star which I struggle to understand. All round exceptional, can't fault it and will be staying here again!!

This hotel has good location, very near to royal miles, royal college of surgeons, university of edinburgh, festival theatre etc. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are generally clean and up to standards, even though a bit small. The hotel has a 24-hr resturant and bar which is conveneint, but the food after late night is selected choices only and were probably made from microwave (personal feeling). Breakfast is ok, you can always go to the cafes nearby for breakfast if you want.

The moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were going to love this hotel. We had the great pleasure of being greeted by Peter Binnie, who was the afternoon manager for our entire stay. He was friendly, engaging and made some great suggestions for places to visit. Even more impressive, as my husband and I were wandering down one of the streets that Peter had recommended to us, who should we bump into, but Peter and, rather than rush past and pretend he hadn't noticed us, he stopped for a chat and pointed out a couple of more things that we might enjoy. Our room was spotless, the beds comfy and the breakfast generous, with probably the best view in Edinburgh, and we found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful, but Peter was an absolute standout. We would definitely book here, again, if we return.

It is a lovely hotel undoubtedly but not without issues. Couples midweek stay. At check in, they thought the package with agoda did not include breakfast and took multiple attempts to address issue. We got breakfast but were not on list. Had eggs benedict for breakfast. Nitpicking but 5 star poached eggs should not be solid, lukewarm and have a thin hollandaise. Gym lacks an adidas step which I would have thought any decent boutique gym should have esp with current fitness trends. Shower pressure from rain shower was less tropical storm and more November all day drizzle. Shower head was better but not lots. Products in bathroom nicely packaged but did not seem luxurious to use. The mandarin body moisturiser had bits of pulp in which was pretty gross on the skin and had to be washed off. Room was nicely decorated from Missoni days. Blokes in kilts touristy Scottish touch though weird they didn't even fake Scottish accents. One of them hit on my husband in case any women are wondering... Didn't dine at the restaurant so can't comment on that. Thought bar was overrated. Maybe nicer at weekend when busier. They do give you nibbles but the cocktail I had was the most disgusting of my life - can't remember name but with amaretto and cacao which from description should not have been main flavours but bitter cacao really was and was not cheap enough that it didn't annoy me.

this was our first trip to edinburgh and everyone we talked to told us to stay near the royal mile for the sights. the location of this hotel was exactly what we wanted. near to the royal mile but also near the restaurant area. we stayed 3 nights at the hotel. when we first arrived, the girl who checked us in was great. she made us feel very welcome and pointed out the different possible sites for tourists. the hotel is in good condition with new carpets and quite clean. the room was spacious and had everything i would want. the bed was quite comfortable and large. the bathroom had both a shower and bath (which i like). water ran hot and strong. the internet was quite good as well. overall we had a great experience at this hotel. it was one of the cheaper options that we found, but this is not a budget hotel, this is great value for money and i will stay there again when i return.

I was there three nights. Got there early for check in but they had a room ready so let me check in there and then. Room was a great size - really large for a hotel room. Location is right round the corner from Grassmarket so brilliant for unique little places and bars and restaurants and a nice walk up to the Royal Mile. I ate twice in the hotel and was impressed with the quality of the food. My only complaints would be that the heating wasn't great - didn't seem to make much of a difference when I had it on. Also, the shower was too hot and I couldn't seem to change the temperature - close to scalding temperature. I did let them know at front desk and they said they would have a look but I didn't notice any difference. Great size bathroom with a bath and a separate shower and the toilet itself completely separate. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small but cute! I would happily stay there again.

While this hotel is in a good location for access to the castle and sites in the city center like the History Museum, there are not that many restaurants in the area. The hotel has internet, but it was painfully slow! Other guests were promised wifi in their rooms, but it had been "broken" for days with promises of it being fixed. The bar area w/ tall stools for seating is not really cozy--best to find another pub to watch World Cup or to have some atmosphere. The first night it was rather warm and there was a lot of street noise from cars and ambulances servicing a nearby hospital--you had to weigh closing the window to avoid noise, or to roast. Room service was great for one night we ate in the room and the continental breakfast was good. It was good value, I suppose, but in the future I think I'd stay on Grassmarket or closer to the Royal Mile for access to night life and restaurants.

Ibis hotel was very accessible from Edinburgh waverley station via the fisherman close for those with light luggage. If u have big luggages, it's better to walk up the winding slopes to the right. The hotel is @ the centre of sight-seeing locations such as Real Mary Kings Close, Scotland castle, National Museum, ghost tours etc. Rooms are clean and big. Staffs were welcoming, friendly and helpful. p/s: it's near halal restaurants for muslim travellers (lailas, hamam's etc.)

The Inn Place was a lovely place to stay for my first trip to Edinburgh. The room was fabulous and clean. The location was 2 minutes from the Royal Mile and 5 mins from Princes Street. It was a beautiful walk to either and had lots to do around. It also beside the best Harry Potter shop I have seen in a while which was a huge bonus. I only had one let down when there and that was that we asked for an early check-in as we were headed to the rugby and it gives the option on this site to request an arrival time, which unfortunately wasn't actually accommodated for. Other than that it was a beautiful stay.

Rooms are utilitarian. Modern hotel with very small bathroom. Great location with an easy walk through the park to The Royal Mile and Edunburgh Castle. Taxi to Waverley Station or main bus station only about £6. Best thing is the fantastic breakfast buffet and the fact that they provide sealable plastic containers to take food items away if you wish. They also provide take away coffee cups. Never seen this before . Very generous

I've stayed at this lovely hotel in the past, and I really didn't need a reason to book again, but if you are attending many of the comedy events during Fringe season then this Hotel is Location, Location, Location with a 2 minute walk from George Square where so many events take place, and only a 4 minute walk in the other direction from the Royal Mile. The shower is one of the best I have experienced.

Excellent accommodations. Rooms were well decorated, modern, and very clean. Heated bathroom floors, which I'm sure are very welcomed in the winter. Lovely bar and food choices downstairs. Make sure you change dates firstly through booking.com, if you originally booked through them. Confirm your changes directly with the hotel as well. Agoda did not transfer the changes and I was charged for both dates and not reimbursed.
