Kampot City Center hotels & places to stay

Hey, I had a lovely time at Villa Vedici, this hotel is so amazing so stay and relax some few days or weeks. Wifi does work really well. You can do some kayak on the river, watch the sunset on a cruise or just infront the river at the hotel. The staff is just amazing, so friendly and helpfull. The pool is also nice and the bar is the place to be during day and night. You can just sit and talk with the staff and people while drinking some nice cocktails and beers. You can rent a motobike at the hotel so thats actuallyreally nice to visit kampot, mountains and stuff. Food is also great ! The hotel is at like 5min from the Kampot city center by tuk tuk or motobike so its really nice !

This was the second/remaining hotel booked in Kampot. My fiancée and I were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The prior night we stayed at a Resort/Coral Bay hotel, that hotel was a completely opposite of this Hotel FIve S. The staff, Kosal, at Five S was very friendly with excellent customer service. He greeted us, provided a welcome drink and explained the area to us (even though my fiancée is Khmer). He carried our bags up three flight of stairs and when we entered the room, there was a very nice decorative message on the bed with local flowers. The room was super clean, spacious and decorated very well. When I asked if he could get a moto rental, he had one at the hotel at the time specified. The breakfast options were very good, Asian or Western style. Overall, it was exceptional hotel in my perspective and I have stayed at several 3-4 stars in Cambodia, this one will be on list when I go back to Kampot. The other hotel not so and although I would like to write a review on that one, I won't since its owned by a Cambodian official. Would I stay and recommend Hotel Five S, the answer is a positive YES.

Just stayed here for a weekend during low season with my girlfriend. It's one of the most expensive hotels in Kampot but it was worth the money. We stayed in the premium room on the 5th floor and it was very well done. There were windows on three sides of the room and a small balcony which gave wonderful views of Bokur Mountain. The bathroom was spotless and well designed, and the bed was the most comfortable that I've ever slept in a hotel in Cambodia. The breakfast menu had many choices and the food was first rate. We ate one night in the rooftop bar/restaurant and it was fine but I prefer to eat in the restaurants along the river. Staff was friendly and attentive but patience is required as their English skills are still developing. A very nice hotel. Pricey by Kampot standards but, again, worth the money in my opinion.

We are a group of 7 with booking of 3 rooms at MAKK hotel for two nights. The hotel is well located with kampot river across the road, you can just sit comfortably in the hotel rest area with a cup of coffee enjoying kampot river's sunset view. Rooms are of good size, clean and nicely decorated. Facilities are adequate with wifi works well throughout. We took day tours arranged by the hotel, which were all fine. The sunset cruise tour in particular should not be missed. Mr Jimmy the hotel host has been very helpful and responsive to all our emails / queries before our stay. He even took the initiation to call us and our next check in hotel in sihanoukville after he found out we have left behind a handphone after we have checked out from MAKK. Then he made extra effort to coordinate with our Sihanoukville hotel to send the handphone to us with no extra charge. Throughout the process, we were not disturbed at all. Truly we were amazed by this special service offered by this small hotel in kampot. Will surely recommend this hotel to all. Most importantly, room price is very reasonable!

Good value accommodation in a great location in Kampot town, 1 block from the river and lots of restaurants and cafes around. Large comfortable room, relatively basic facilities but good for the price, and the pool is a real bonus - quite small but great to have a chance for a dip, not many hotels in Kampot have pools. Staff were helpful and sorted out a couple of issues very promptly and efficiently.

The welcome was very warm and we felt home as soon as we arrived. The host is extremely helpful und friendly. We rented a motor bike from him and he did everything to organise helmets, which fitted my husbands 'larger' head. Although we had a ground floor room, which looked a bit dark at the beginning we felt very comfortable during our 2 days stay. The room was large and very clean, the bathroom modern. The location is great, just next to the river with two platforms to sit and relax and the hotel is not far from town. The center of the city (old town), the market and the river quay is in walkable distance. We would definitely come back on our next trip to Kampot.

Our stay was really comfortable in this hotel. It was just in perfect location to go around Kampot city to riverside and restaurants. Nice artistic decoration made the atmosphere special. Staff was very helpful, room clean and spacious including safety box and air-condition and fan. Overall a very good stay and if we come back, sure to stay in this hotel. We recommmend!

My girlfriend and I traveled through Cambodia for a month through Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville and Kampot. Mea Culpa is by far the best accommodations we've stayed at. Their service here stands out more than other accommodations. We were greeted with a smile every time we speak with them. The area of the hotel is very relaxing. Great for just sitting and having a drink. The general area is quiet at night and the guests who choose to stay here are generally quiet as well. They give you free bike for use which allows you to get to the city center within 5 minutes. Tour booking through them was simple and easy. They also have great recommendations on which tour to do and cheap places to get a haircut. I can recommend this accommodation to anyone and we will definitely return!

If you do not fancy staying up in a mountain but want to visit it, this hotel is about the best in the Kampot Center to be away from the noisy night life along the riverside yet only 5 min brisk walk from it. My Kampot Room was in an annex across the road, which helps me connect to the hotel's history. I won't spoil your fun - ask the hotel owner and boss. If you want quality food without having to pay a bomb, the inhouse restaurant is where you will get the freshest seafood and greens - all on the same plate. A versatile hotel - staff leaves you to be alone, unintrusive; yet near enough to be at your beck and call, and to ensure they meet your needs.

We took a risk with this booking as there were no reviews, and so glad we did. This is a brand new small place with several bungalows. We stayed directly on the river front. Bathroom was clean with a good shower. Bed was clean and comfortable. Not a vast amount of space but enough for us. Lovely small decking area to chill on the river, with your own steps leading down ready for a dip. Staff were just super friendly and helpful. Fantastic English guy cooking meals too, would highly recommend eating here. You must expect some noise in the evening as these huts are close to the eating/drinking area and there's lots of other back packer kind of accommodation on the same stretch of river. If you hire a ped you are two minutes away from the town centre, plenty of places to eat. This is our second visit to Kampot as we love it for a short stay on our travels. After staying smack in the center of town, this place felt a bit out there. That being said, is its realistically only a 15 min walk or 4 minute motorbike ride, which you can rent at the property. The pool was great! We loved having a place to go cool off in. Overall, the amenities were pretty decent but Def no 5 star. I'd say the biggest drawback is that the staff doesn't speak any English making communication with all guests (at least that's what we heard from neighbors) very difficult! Overall, I'd recommend this place (and a scooter). We loved it!! A nice, quite place to relax.

A very nice hotel, newly built and tastefully decorated, complete with blue buddha statue and goldfish pond in the garden. The rooms are huge, so large you could have yoga classes inside of them. For this price range you will not find a better hotel in Kampot. One of the guys working at reception, his name is Wat, was very kind to take me on his scooter early one morning up to Bokor Hill Station. I paid him $25USD and it was money so well spent, he was so considerate and kind. We got there before any other tourists started to arrive and the ride up the mountain is sensational. The Cambodian staff working here are so friendly and helpful and I was sad to leave. A small tip: If you slip one of their business cards into the key card slot inside your room when you go out it will keep your fridge running. There is also a huge western style supermarket just across the road on the other side of the roundabout and the river is only a five minute walk. I highly recommend the Blue Buddha hotel.

A stay at Champa Lodge is a truly relaxing and highly enjoyable experience. The location, a short 5-10 minute ride from the main Kampot city, but nestled right on the river in a very natural, jungle-garden setting, is ideal. The rooms are fantastic, and the fact that it is a smaller lodge with only a few rooms keeps things relatively quiet and intimate. I've stayed multiple times, and always end up meeting some interesting and surprising travelers from all quarters of the globe. The staff is also very knowledgeable and accommodating, ready to assist with any need you may have. The food is superb, as is the selection of Belgian beers. There area ample river recreation opportunities on site - stand-up paddleboards and other varieties of watercraft. If you want to spoil yourself in Kampot for a reasonable price, Champa is your place.

For the price the room was pretty nice. We first booked one night and in the end we stayed for 4 nights. Sadly we had a lot of rain during our stay in Kampot, but the room was perfect to relax inside and the wifi was pretty good. It is a bit out of the city center but you can rent a scooter for 5$ a day. There is no restaurant but we good free fruits and coffee in the morning and there are a few good restaurants in the center which you can reach easily but scooter or tuktuk. The family is super friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this place.

We loved Good Morning Kampot, after staying in some not so clean places without hot water for a while it was a nice change to find a clean, spacious room. The staff are very friendly, even the owner of the hotel came to speak to us in the rooftop bar. The location is great it’s right on the river front and close to the town centre. You can watch the sunset from the rooftop bar. We were given a voucher for a free beer each but we liked it so much up there we stayed all night. Food wasn’t excellent too. The restaurant downstairs is also good and they make a great breakfast burrito with hash brown. I have to say while we were there there was a stand in chef for one day who I think was a better cook than the usual chef! Definitely good value for money we couldn’t believe we only paid $10 dollars for a double room. Can’t recommend this place enough! Only negative was the bedsheet had some stains on but the gave us a fresh one no problem.

We stayed here for 3 nights towards the end of our trip, really wished we could stay for longer. Kampot is such a nice town, Sabay beach was about 1.5km out of town on a bumpy road. The facilities are awesome, we stayed in the beach bungalow, overlooking the river. They had a cool restaurant which was kind of a treehouse, had amazing views overlooking the river. The breakfast (we had the healthy breakfast each morning) was probably the best we had in cambodia. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, made us feel very at home. We hired a motorbike for one of the days through the hotel, made it much easier to explore in and around kampot- very cheap only $6 US whole day. Overall we loved our stay here- wished we could have stayed longer!

We loved our stay here. Be aware that you are pretty far from the city center so you will constantly need tuktuks or a scooter to get around. Our room was perfect, just like the pictures. A riverside room with a ladder down to the river and an amazing hammock to watch the sunset over the mountains. We nooked this place to get away from the noise as we have been travling for some time. We were a little unlucky as they neighboring property was dredging the river. A constant motor was heard from 7am sharp to about 17h30. Another annoyance was what seemed to be a kararoke bar a little down stream. We were treated to horrying untalented locals singing their hearts out for most of the night. Had it not been for these two issues, our stay would have been 100% perfect. The coffee and food at the restaurant are really good and the staff are very friendly. The daily breakfast specials are great. I would definitely want to come back if I could be sure there would be less noise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay and would have been happy to stay longer. Cedric the host was excellent and extremely helpful and welcoming. The food in the restaurant was fabulous. We stayed in the family room in the loft which was very spacious, extremely clean and perfect for our family. It was also excellent value for money. We woukd highly recommed auberge de soleil for anyone sishing to stay in kampot.

A great hotel in a quiet street, only 5 minutes walk to the river. The rooms are a good size, table, chair, tv & fridge, decent wifi, nice bathroom & hot shower. A western style supermarket is only about 100 metres away at the end of the street. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful and were a delight to hangout with. For this price range it would have to be one of the best hotels in Kampot and I was sad to leave, I could have easily stayed one month here and can highly recommend this hotel.

Had a fantastic stay here, and didn't want to leave. I heard about this from Nomadic Matt so I booked for a couple of nights, but I kept extending my stay because the town of Kampot and this hostel were so great. I eventually had to move on because they were completely booked, and I didn't want to risk a bad hostel experience by moving someplace else, so I left town reluctantly. But William and Gerard are FANTASTIC. William is hands down the nicest host/owner I've met on my 2 month trip so far. And the food here is to die for. Cheap and delicious, plus just an easy place to hang out (either in the spacious garden or inside the air conditioned bar). It's about a 5 min walk to the "main" drag in town, but you can rent a bike from the tour company across the street for $1/day and its super easy to get around Kampot. Just go and stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Our stay at Mr. Lengs place was memorable. Mr. Leng and his family were very warm and welcoming. Not only they provided us with great recommendations, but Mr. Leng also rescued us when our motorbike wasn't starting in the middle of nowhere. He came very quickly, and arranged a new bike for us. The next day he accompanied us to bargain the price to fix the bike. You could feel that his one&only priority are his guests. His bungalows are clean spacious and nicely decorated. They also offer a great and cheap restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Location, which was a little concern of ours, was in the end one of the highlights of our stay. Mr Leng offers a free tour around Fishing island, in which you can see the local fishermen and amazing salt and rice fields landscapes. Besides, the center of Kampot is only 5 minutes away by motorbike or bicycle (free!), and if neither are an option for you Mr. Leng gives you a free tuk tuk ride to Old Bridge from where the center is really close.
