In a lage busy city it is an Oasis the staff are friendly and attentive, the food is good the free breakfast is plentiful and varied The rooms are clean and well kept If you need tickets, tours or just information they have a great travel desk We will be going back for our 3rd visit

Place like an "Oasis" in the heart of lively Thamel”
The hotel located in the heart of Thamel area where very lively with foreign tourists. The hotel building is not facing to the street but its beautiful garden, which makes the hotel quiet and cozy place. Staff is kind and helpful. I liked the breakfast which has many choices to make from the Nepali to Western. Highly recommended!

Excellent location right in the heart of Thamel, yet very quiet and peacful. The garden area is beautiful and very relaxing. Our room was rather dated but very clean and quiet. Overall a lovely stay!

Always a great spot to stop in for a relaxing time. the gardens in the hotel yard are amazing and the coffee is DIVINE! the staff are all very accommodating with your needs and the in house salon and barber shop are up to standard.

Thamel Oasis”
This is a Grand Dame of Kathmandu's hotel scene. Beautiful buildings and grounds in an ex-palace slap bang in the middle of Thamel, but peaceful and serene as compared to the streets outside. We stayed in the cheap rooms which were basic but clean, however some of the suites/bigger rooms looked fantastic. Next time. Staff were great, breakfasts did the trick and all-in-all highly recommended. I don't know why you'd stay anywhere else in KTM.

Iconic Kathmandu hotel”
The hotel is 51 years old but still going strong. It’s been the choice of most celebrities who have visited Kathmandu and lots of mountain climbers. We stayed in a standard room which was in the original wing and a little basic but comfortable. Our room overlooked the rear of the hotel kitchen so it was a bit noisy at night and early in the morning. The hotel opens on the east side on to the middle of Thamel with lots of restaurants and of course souvenir shops, rickshaws, etc. A few streets are clear of traffic but the others can be hectic with cars and bikes and carts as well as hundreds of tourists. The breakfast was good, dinner was reasonably priced and delicious. Staff were helpful. The only difficulty was finding the entrance. The taxi driver didn’t really know where he was going so make sure you have a good map. The taxi entrance is on the western side of the hotel down a short road.

The Kathmandu Guest House is drenched in hypnotic history; it elevates the word 'location' to a perfect nexus of space and time. Inside its high walls, you experience a tranquillity that is in complete contradiction to the high-speed molecular chaos of life ebbing and flowing outside the walls. The front office staff got a little John Cleese in Fawlty Towers at times, but what were they doing? They were doing their best! Great place to be reincarnated, then you would never have to leave.

Booked for my whole group of 27 as we were there for a charity event. ”
Staff very frendly...even t managers of each department especially Abhinub Shakya...makes us feel at home . The room is reasonably clean compared to other hotels we stayed before in ktm Surrounding of t hotels are very clean...the only disapointment is t cafe closed at 9.30 pm...we find it too early..

Don’t know why this place has bad reviews . The location is fantastic, staff excellent. Great value for money . The bed was the most comfy in our stay and we stayed at Dwarika hotel during our stay . Wish we had stayed here instead . You are right in the heart of Kathmandu but have the benefit of a beautiful quiet garden when returning to the hotel , we are coming back next year and this will he first on our booking list .

The garden alone is honestly worth it. This was my first time in Kathmandu, and I found Thamel completely hectic, but KGH was a lovely little oasis amidst the chaos. Would definitely stay again if I make it back to Nepal!

Pros- Good location, breakfast venue was situated amidst a lovely garden setting, pleasant experience walking around the hotel grounds, so much history. Cons- The bed was a little uncomfortable. I could feel the springs rubbing against my back.

Excellent place to stay in very busy and prime location”
Internet connectivity is poor. In house restaurant is not up to expectation and closed 9.30 in the evening - too early. Excellent and only property with green open space and nice atmosphere in such a busy area. We stayed in suit room, but double deluxe is not up to the mark.
