My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The location is great with a bunch of restaurants and food options close by. The main Powell Muni station is only a short walk away and it is super easy to get to the other hot spots. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, although a little small. Our door lock broke one afternoon and we only needed to wait a few minutes to get back in. Because of the broken lock we needed to change rooms, but they had one ready right across the hall. The building is definitely older but the rooms have modern finishes and comfy beds (we were able to try two of them!). The lobby attendants were very helpful. If traveling alone or as a couple, you won't find a better bed or location for the price.

I recently stayed at the King George Hotel for six nights and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel’s prime location within walking distance of Union Square is definitely a highlight, making it easy to explore the city. It is walkable to the BART train and street cars. The rooms, while small, were clean and equipped with all the basic necessities needed for a comfortable stay. On arrival, the room had a bit of a musty smell, likely due to the lack of a fan in the bathroom, but this was quickly resolved by opening the window and airing out the space. One minor inconvenience was the water pressure, which was low on two of the mornings but fortunately improved within 10 minutes. A nice touch was the coffee and pastries served each morning, providing a convenient start to the day. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, adding to the positive experience. One thing to note is that, due to the hotel being located in a business district, most of the stores and shops close early, which might be a consideration for those planning late-night shopping or dining. Overall, the King George Hotel offers decent value for its price and is a solid choice for anyone looking to stay in the heart of the city. There is a 24 our parking garage directly across the street that allows in and out parking for $43 with cameras. Be sure not to leave any bags or valuables visible in your vehicle when parking in San Franscico. We had our back window smashed out while parked at a meter on a busy main street in the middle of the afternoon (near Haight & Ashberry). The only thing that was visible in the car was a mini backpack. We were told afterwards this occurs frequently throughout the city.

The staff is super nice and friendly. The room was clean and the bay windows are amazing. My suggestion would be to replace the carpeting in the rooms. I paid $240 total from May 15-17, 2025!!!

Traditional boutique hotel it is. Friendly reception staff that was very accommodating when we arrived early morning to store our luggage before check in time. Room was a little tight for us with our big luggages. Lol. Because the hotel has been around for some years, probably needs some checking and updating. Not all power points were working. Bring your own bottle. No water bottle was provided in room, only a hydration station on the ground floor lobby.

“The Best Value Hotel in San Francisco”
I never thought I could stay at a hotel like this for such a price! The building is a bit old, but that actually gives the interior an antique charm. The staff are incredibly kind, and the rooms are clean. I was especially curious about the mattress because the bed was so soft and comfortable. The location is also great—right in Union Square, so it's very convenient for transportation. Just keep in mind that it’s relatively close to the Tenderloin area, so be sure to check the map and plan your route carefully when walking around.
