The best little secret in Yangon, that is soon to be a secret no more!”
Of all the hostels I have stayed in all over the world, this is my favorite. The staff are fantastic, epitomizing the kindness and friendliness of the people of Myanmar. The front staff's English speaking skills are also very good and they are very knowledgeable about Yangon and helpful when directions are required. The surrounding San Chaung neigbourhood is very interesting also, and the Shwedagon Pagoda is a mere 10 minute walk away. The morning breakfast is a real treat, as it is fresh, local cuisine but minus the heavy oils you often find at street tea shops. The beds are super comfortable; the showers are great; and there is a decent amount of privacy in the 4 person dorms. And on top of it, it always felt quite quiet at the PTH and relaxing, which is nice for the more 'mature' traveler. I can't say enough good about this place. My only regret is that with such outstanding service there is little doubt that getting a booking here currently and in the future will become harder and harder as I don't think there is much comparable accommodation in Yangon for the price.

Great place to stay ”
This hostel is a step above all the others in Yangon. Close enough to down town and restaurants but just outside of the core. Great beds and hot showers as well as a delicious breakfast make for a comfortable stay. The staff always go the extra mile for you with helpful tips and suggestions. I stayed here twice in 2 weeks and after hearing stories about the other hostels in Yangon im glad i spent the money and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The Pickled tea really is the best option in Yangon.

Luxurious facilities”
The facilities were great! New, clean and well-maintained. Really appreciate the number of shower and toilet cubicles available as there was no need to queue and wait. The hot and working showers were a plus point too. It would have been better if there was a counter to place our toiletries on while we use the wash basins. It was a really luxurious, well-designed dormitory as there was plenty of privacy for each dorm bed - individual locker/ bedside table, lights, international socket, mini clothes hanging area and space to sit and stand. The beds were also made by the staff daily! Loved the bustling market neighbourhood. You can easily get food and daily necessities. The staff were all very kind and willing to help all the time, they helped to book my taxi and even served my breakfast earlier than the designated time because I had a relatively early flight. I had a really comfortable and enjoyable 4 nights there, thank you Pickled Tea Hostel!

Perfect Single Room”
I was so pleased and surprised by the Single Room I had at Pickled Tea. I had read so many terrible things about cramped dirty single rooms in Myanmar on line that I guess I was expecting the worst. Instead, I got the best! The pictures online do not do the Single Room any justice. It is tucked away in a little alcove, but the ceiling is very high and there is access to a balcony. It is not cramped at all. The bed was comfy enough for Southeast Asia and the shared bathroom was always clean and available. Pickled Tea is walking distance from Shwedagon Pagoda, but you have to cab it to downtown. This was not an issue for me. The staff is helpful and there is lots of information in the lobby to help with your activities. Breakfast was an interesting array of Burmese treats - both savory and sweet. I really enjoyed my stay here and recommend it to other solo travelers!

Much recommended”
Super friendly staff, sparkingly clean, tasty breakfast, and decent mattraces. It may not be as close to Downtown as some other hostels, but given the rise of ride-sharing apps in Yangon and their low prices this is not such a major issue. All in all, "The Pickled Tea" is a great hostel and I would happily stay (t)here again!

Great staff, best dorms!”
I stayed twice, at the beginning and again at the end of my trip. Pickled Tea has some of the best dorm rooms I've ever stayed in and really, really friendly and helpful staff. They even have rain showers! Location is only a 15-20 minute walk to Shwedagon Pagoda but you'll need to take a taxi to get to the old town (downtown) area. Just a matter of preference as to where you want to be. When they weren't able to arrange a bus at the time I wanted, they recommended another travel agent who could help me. So clearly, they're not just out for themselves. Also, make sure you get up early and check out the local market just outside--so cool!

Cool little hostel”
Stayed one night and chose Pickled Tea due to the closeness to Shwedagon Pagoda. We had a cool bunk bed room, very clean and comfortable. Showers are nice. I think this place is nicer than your average hostel. It's about a 15-20 min walk to the pagoda. Didn't go anywhere else so can't really comment. The place is located in an alley, and since it was raining it was pretty muddy. But other than that it was cool.

great value for money”
I stayed one night at the Pickled tea hostel and loved the very helpful staff! The hostel is clean and not too far from the Shwedagon Pagoda (if you like to walk, it's a 20 min walk). Would stay again!

The best place that I stayed in Myanmar”
This is my second stay in Pickeld Tea after travelling around Myanmar. I decided to stay in this place because this the best place that I stay in Myanmar. place is very near with Swedagon Pagoda, around 10-15mins walking. I love their traditional breakfast. All staff is nice and helpful. they taught me to speak simple conversation in Burmese that was useful. Room space is wide and they have communal space that you can meet many travellers and sharing some plans. the place near Sharky;s (the best shop in yangon), you can buy wine, bread, cheese, ice cream, yogurt and etc. You also can feel local environtment in the morning because 5 mins from this hostel you will find traditional market. Really recomended

A retreat from the dusty and boiling Yangon street”
a new hostel with spotless clean rooms, comfy bed and powerful hot shower (rare in Myanmar). A 15min walk from Shwedagon Pagoda and 25min from the national museum. Tucked inside an alley away from the dusty streets in downtown Yangon. Lots of small shops and tea shops around. Only issue is that internet wasn't very stable but wifi doesn't work very well in general in Myanmar.

Best ever Hostel ”
I been traveling around the world with staying in Hostel in most case. I would say this is the best ever I stay. I stay in share female dorm, upper deck. There is cabinet and space to keep your luggage. the privacy of each bed is very thoughtful, you will enter the room without disturbing others. The toilet is another highlight, which is very clean and dry whenever you enter. The water pressure is very good to have a good shower which you wouldn't expect to enjoy in backpacker house. The staff is very friendly and helpful. although the hotel is not located at downtown but its walking distance to the famous Swedagon Pagoda. Highly recommend for this hostel and I will come back for definitely.

Great stay at the clean PT Hostel”
My husband and I had a great experience at the PT Hostel. It was impeccably clean and the staff was great. The hostel is fairly new and has beautiful wooden features. A/C in the room and a small hairdryer in the bathroom. We didn't have breakfast either morning we were there, but we did grab some bananas and street food (plenty of it within a few blocks) around the area. The hostel is pretty far from downtown, but it would be easily handled with a bicycle or taxi (around 2-3k kyats each way. Shwedagon is about a 15-20 min walk. The staff directed us to a place to book our overnight bus ticket to Bagan, which was just a block or two away. Be sure to try some samosa/chickpea salad from the lady on the corner of Dhammazedi and the mall. Delish. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely stay! Wish I had more time”
I booked this hostel simply because of the look of the place. It seemed very clean and the staff seemed helpful and accommodating! I totally agree with those reviews. At first I was worried that the location was a bit far from the downtown. I realized the area around the hostel had a lot to offer including good restaurants and really great coffee at the circles cafe. The staff was very helpful! The facilities were clean and had large lockers for all your things! I would definitely stay here again and for longer. I was upset to miss the breakfast since I had an early bus ride. I heard it's great

Great!”
We stayed 1 night in a twin bedroom. New hostel and the cleanest hostel I ever stayed in Asia. Nice and helpful staff. It is located quite far away from Yangon city centre, but very convenient location if you want to visit Shwedagon Pagoda (about 10-15 minutes walking).

Very Comfortable Stay in Yangon”
We booked the 4-bed mixed dorm and stayed only for a few hours to rest after arriving early from the airport and as we were taking the night bus to Bagan on that same day. Our stay was short but would we would definitely stay here again if ever due to the wonderful experience. 1.Rooms and Facilities: The bunk beds though good for a single person was bigger-sized than that of a normal single-bed. Also its made of sturdy wood and not the typical metal-bunk beds which creaks and shakes whenever the person on the top bed moves or gets on/off. High ceiling and good ventilation, plenty of space as well and individual night lights and charging stations for each bed. The shared toilets are likewise clean and well maintained. Breakfast is typical Myanmar delicacies but quite delicious and filling. Also, they were kind enough to let us have our breakfast which was supposed to be for the next morning on the day we arrived as we were not staying the night. 2. Staff who greeted us when we arrived spoke perfect english and was very accomodating - didnt get her name though. 3.Location The Hostel surroundings might seem seedy and dirty but quite safe during our stay. Walking distance to Shwedagon Pagoda.

The best hostel in Yangon!”
Hands down our best experience in Myanmar! The staff are so amazing at this hostel, and the rooms are fantastic. Don't be put off by the fact that it's not in the centre of town, it's only a short cab ride away (although make sure you take the hostel's business card with you, it has a map on the back with the Burmese street name). The hostel is far superior to anything else we stayed in Myanmar, so please go and check it out!

Loved it”
Thank you for providing is with the best hostel stay on our trip! We arrived at 5am and woke the staff up, but they let us rest in a spare room and checked us into our twin room as soon as it became available! Thank you for that! The breakfast was local Myanmar food and was delicious, everything is new and the rooms were spacious and accomodating. The bathrooms were outstanding with hot waterfall showers! Everyone was lovely and helped with whatever questions we had. Overall, amazing stay :)
