    “Overnight Stay”

We have stayed here before, and we do like the hotel. Last time we stayed in a windowless room, but there was plenty of space. This time we were in a room with a window (Room 111), but you shouldn’t be charging this room as the same as the other rooms. There is only set of plug points on one side of the bed, and the bedside shelf above the safe is nice and wide on one side, but is tiny on the other side of the bed. Hardly any room to move round if you need to go to toilet, if you stay on the window side. and on top of that, the curtain doesn’t go all the way round, so you could easily flash somebody at the window! I genuinely think you somehow need to slightly change the layout, as the person on one side has plenty of room, plug sockets and shelf, whereas the other side of bed, is so tight and no space, it is slightly ridiculous. I still left a high review, as I do the hotel, but I will definitely never accept room 111 or similar place on other floors. I think it is probably specific to room 111 and the same

    Reviewed February 01, 2026

Dear Mike, Thank you for your feedback, and for taking the time to write about your visit. We appreciate your detailed comments regarding your stay in Room 111. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced with the room layout and amenities. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will review the layout of Room 111 to ensure a more comfortable experience for our guests in the future. We appreciate your continued loyalty to us, and we hope to welcome you back to our hotel so that we can do our best to make sure you have a better experience! “Hotel Point A Edinburgh - A Disappointing City Break Experience”

When booking Hotel Point A for our Edinburgh city break, the online presentation suggested a modern, comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the reality fell significantly short of expectations, leaving us with an experience that felt more hostel-like than hotel-standard. The Positives Credit where it’s due - Hotel Point A excels in a few key areas. The property is immaculately clean throughout, with a crisp, newly-constructed feel that’s immediately apparent upon arrival. The staff deserve particular praise for their warm, welcoming demeanor and professional service attitude. These elements initially promised a pleasant stay. The Significant Drawbacks Room Size and Design Issues The rooms are shockingly small - imagine being confined to a box with a closet masquerading as a shower. The space constraints become particularly problematic in the bathroom, where poorly designed accordion shower doors actually cut into guests as they attempt to exit. Anyone of larger build or above-average height would likely find themselves genuinely trapped behind these doors. Safety Concerns Perhaps most concerning was the complete absence of windows in our room - just solid cement walls surrounding us. This created genuine anxiety about fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures. How exactly would guests exit in an emergency situation? Missing Amenities Basic hotel amenities were notably absent. No iron was provided in the room, which is standard even in budget accommodations. The lack of these fundamental items reinforced the hostel-like atmosphere rather than a proper hotel experience. Housekeeping Failures The service breakdown was most evident with housekeeping. Despite requesting fresh towels and requesting that our nearly-empty body wash be replenished, housekeeping staff never entered our room during our stay. Beds went unmade, towels unchanged, and amenities unfilled. There was no turndown service, no daily room refresh. Value Proposition Problems For the price paid - which aligned with expectations for a standard commercial hotel brand - the experience felt like a significant rip-off. The combination of cramped quarters, missing amenities, and absent service created a value equation that simply didn’t work. Management Response To their credit, management attempted to address our concerns by offering complimentary breakfast. However, by that point, the accumulation of disappointments had already soured our entire stay. The gesture, while appreciated, came too late to salvage the experience, particularly as we were already heading to the airport. Final Verdict Hotel Point A Edinburgh appears to operate under a budget hostel model while charging standard hotel prices. If you’re aware of this going in and adjust expectations accordingly, the cleanliness and friendly staff might make it workable for a very basic overnight stay. However, if you’re expecting standard hotel amenities, service, and room comfort, you’ll likely share our disappointment. Would I recommend? Only if you don’t mind paying ***/ night for basic amenities - your money would be better spent elsewhere.

“Excellent Location and Very Courteous Staff”

Point A hotel is very strategically located. My hats off to Aisla particularly and Ross to help me at every step beyond the call of their duty. This makes the hotel very special to me.

A short stayover at Point A Hotel Edinburgh at Haymarket. Although the room is relatively small with barely any amenities, the room is still clean and comfortable for short stay. Staffs are all very friendly and helpful too.

    “Short great stay”

We ve a had short in Edinburgh, but everything was amazing. Room is big enough for someone who doesn't spend time in hotel. Everyone is very kind. The place is VERY clean. 24/7 reception very useful if have shitty flights like we did. Leaflets with lovely places at the reception. Very good location if you like less touristy, but still close by accommodation
