Railroad Hotel is a new 30 room boutique hotel located near the train station of Kalaw Town . The owner of this hotel took over this property for less than 4 months I think . He is still at the mid of working to improve and make it a unique places for the traveller. Super helpful and easygoing. I booked one night just to rest before I head to my next destination. And now I am stuck here for another 2 nights . U can't complain much for paying this rate . This was my second trip to kalaw .I tried the other hotel close to the town with higher rates, u will not have a good sleep staying too close to the town . I highly recommend u to stay here if u are not those who expect too much for paying such price ;)

Exceptional”
We had a lovely stay at Railroad Hotel, the place is about 10 mins walk from the town centre on a quiet street. Staff was super nice and always happy to help. The wi-fi was by far the best we ever had during 2 weeks in Myanmar ( except of the occasional power cuts), the shower was hot and breakfast very good. Great budget place in Kalaw.

Short stay in Kalaw”
We have a family room but with a standard room charge. It is so cold over here at night, no heater. But luckily it is not yet lower then 10'C .wifi is strong. The villager are celebrating one year once dancing festival in front of the field near the hotel until very late, abit noisy that night, but can see fire cracker at the hotel balcony . Wild sunflower is blooming around of the hotel, it is very nice! We enjoying the morning market at Kalaw, it is 15 minutes walk from the hotel.

Great stay and value for money ”
The service is excellent. The staffs are polite. The room is clean and cosy as described in photos. The location is not so far from the center (Kalaw Market). It is easy to reach to the place. The price is very reasonable for the facilities and service.

I had a great experience at the Railroad Hotel. My friends and I booked a room for 3. We got a spacious room with a double bed and a single bed. The location is good with a 5-8 minute walk to the center of the town. The staff were so helpful and friendly. They even offered to drive us to the bus station for free because someone was available at the time. The driver ( I believe is the owner) helped us find the right bus (bus stations can be very confusing in Myanmar so that was great!). Also the free breakfast was delicious with a great view. Definitely recommend this place!

quiet charming hotel”
the hotel is nicely located in a quiet area but only 10 minutes walking from the city center. If not for the cockroach I found in my room the last day, I would have rated this hotel as very clean. the shower water is nicely hot (Kalaw in winter time is quite cold), but the rooms are not effectively insulated and cold air seeps in. The provided thick blanket is quite necessary. breakfast is an hectic affair, you could very well wait 40-50 minutes to be served and you might have to politely ask/remind the staff a couple of times you're missing breakfast items, but if you're patient enough and not in a hurry, the food is very nice and the staff tries its best to be helpful. In fairness, long waits for food seem to be normal in restaurants too, even when only few customers are present. All in all I enjoyed my stay very much and I would recommend this hotel.

friendliest staff”
The staff here is SO friendly. Their English isn't that great, but they try really hard and will work as a team to figure stuff out. Breakfast is great. The rooms are clean. They don't have lockers in the dorm rooms which is the only negative I can think of. The location is a 5 to 10 minute walk from town, but it's really not a bad walk at all. If you're considering taking the train to somewhere, it's pretty much next door. I'd stay here again if I was going to be in Kalaw.

Excellent”
Nice surprise in Kalaw, big single room with aircon for good price, clean enough. A bit out of the centre but Kalaw is not that big to cause problem. They organize trips to Inle and provide good breakfast. We also had a small bonfire in the night :) Staff is helpful and it was a good place to meet others.

Fantastic hotel!”
The staff was so helpful and accomodating. We did the 3 day trek to Inle Lake through their trekking company Pole Star and had an amazing time. The breakfast was delicious, the room was wonderful and the staff was so helpful with anything we needed. Would highly recommend them for anyone staying in Kalaw!

Perfect location if you are taking a train”
If you are planning to take a train in or out of Kalaw, then this is a great place to stay. It's 1 km away from town so if you are taking the bus and/or hiking, then you should choose another place. The breakfast was not very good, but there are a lot of places nearby with cheap food to supplement. The room was spacious, nice bathroom with hot water, and the beds were comfortable and warm.

Good budget accommodation”
Approx 10 min walk from the bus stop, I liked that it was located out of central Kalaw and in a quiet area. I booked a dormitory room and got upgraded to a single with en suite which I was grateful for. WiFi intermittent and slow but standard for Myanmar. Staff were ok, don’t think they could speak much English so contact was very minimal. Breakfast was very good. Clean.

Railroad Hotel is good for travellers passing by Kalaw - which is normally the case, and they are well prepared for it. The staff is very friendly, nice and helpful, and you can meet a lot of international travellers here. We had some cockroaches in our room, hence my low rating on cleanliness. Otherwise, everything was nice, I can recommend the place.

Great guesthouse run by lovely family ”
The family than run this place are SO sweet!!! Couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The breakfast is really good - crepe, toast, eggs, fruit, coffee, juice. It's definitely not a party / meet other travelers type place - but Kalaw isn't like that anyway. It's located at the bottom end of the town - so around 10 mins walk from the highway - but you're right next to the railway station so perfect for the train to Lake Inle.

Only a 10 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Kalaw. I came off a night bus and the staff checked me into a room to sleep even though the room I had booked wasn't yet ready. The breakfast is very good and facility is clean.

Great place with a nice family”
This place was a great place to stay in Kalaw. They let us in at 4am when our bus arrived from Yangon, which was absolutely amazing of them to do. Breakfast was good, and the hot water was absolutely AMAZING. The staff tries their best, but nobody really knows English all that well (the daughter does the most, but she can be hard to find sometimes.) All in all, if you're just staying here to go hiking to Inle, this is a great place to rest for a night.
