I’ve stayed at this hotel on a few occasions but it seems to be going down hill. First room smelled of smoke so they moved us to another room. It was much better but you can tell the maintenance has not been kept up. Coving falling off and some outlets not working. Went to make coffee in the morning all decaf no cream or sugar. In the past they seem to be much better. Next time I’ll pay the extra money stay stay elsewhere. Just disappointing

Mold in air conditioning units. ”
Mold in air conditioning caused breathing problems Due to mold allergies. Red Roof does not clean air conditioning in any of the rooms. First room had bad musty smell upon inspection before checking in. Second room air conditioning was not working and it had visible black mold on front of air conditioning unit. Third room did not smell or have visible mold but after Sleeping 7 hours in room I woke up coughing and had problems getting my breath we immediately left and checked out 1 day early. As soon as I got in my car my coughing and breathing problems went away !

I'm not one to leave many reviews but this one was too awful. Absolutely disgusting. First room they tried putting us in had a pungent mold and musty smell. There was visible black mold on the ceiling. The staff member was very nice and moved us but the second room wasn't much better. The room was filthy and had not been cleaned well, if at all. The shower still had soap from the last person in the soap dish. We were pretty disappointed. We figured since the price of the room was in the $200s it would be decent. Nope. Don't assume that. It's a complete dump.

Sadly, we did not enjoy our 2 night stay. The only thing we liked was the pool. We’ve stayed before and it was okay/good. This stay was not good. Very poor conditions this time. Obviously it was not cleaned well. The bathroom especially. Yuck. There was also black mold on the ceiling from a previous water leak?! We won’t stay again.

Sheets and blankets were dirty with stains and dirt marks. The room also smelled moldy with a slight mix of wet dogs. The staff was friendly and helpful while the location is central to everything around Hilton Head. However, for the price of the hotel the least we should get is a clean and kept room

Single worst travel experience of my life”
The staff are the most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. You could open our door WITHOUT a key and the woman at the front desk would not change our room. The phone did not work, it was dirty and the pool was really unkept. We left at 5am just to get out of there.

This hotel is what I remember Red Roof being, a budget property without any frills. Unfortunately, people were outside in the parking area grilling with loud music on. The rooms needed renovating, floors were dirty and worn. Parking in the area we were at was non-existent and we had to park our car in the edge of the woods. We arrived at 11AM and the room numbers are not visible at night. So, we drove around and had to get out of the vehicle to see what room numbers we were near. Wouldn't stay here again, didn't feel safe!
