Where to stay in Ayeyarwady
Ayeyarwady hotels & accommodations
My wife and I traveled from Yangon to Ngwe Saung Beach for a four day personal retreat. We live in and travel extensively in Asia and spend many more days in a hotel than at home. Since we travel so often we generally choose mid-range properties but sometimes stay in 5 star or even 2 star hotels. We read the Reviews of hotels to get a sense about the place we are...
This was a great stay. We stayed with our two young children and the staff treated them very well. All that said, some of the amenities (especially breakfast) was disappointing. Coffee was very bad and food selection for breakfast is not representative of a four star establishment. There seems to be a trend in Myanmar that, as long as you're 'good enough' of an est...
The facilities and amenities of the Akariz Resort were excellent and of international standard, especially considering that Chaung Thar is not often frequented by foreign travelers. We stayed in the one of the rooms in the main building block with a balcony overlooking the central gardens. It was clean and well-apportioned, however, the cabins looked particularly wonde...
This hotel is nicely situated on the beach and in the heart of the village, which is a great advantage. There's a beautiful garden with comfortable easy chairs and sea view, and a nice swimming pool. The rooms are nice and spacious. It does make a lot of difference where in the hotel you are. The neighbours on the South side have a generator that makes a thundering n...
The rooms we booked were unavailable due to some renovation works and they put us at Sunny Paradise side. They said we have been upgraded and we thank them for that arrangement but the so called upgraded rooms are worn down and need immediate renovation.
I stayed here on a weekend get away while working in Myanmar. It is a beautiful beach and the facilities are wonderful. It is very different than most areas in Myanmar and is not yet overwhelmed with tourists.
We have visited BoB 5 times during the last 7 years. We still love the place, the staff and the unique atmosphere in the bright and airy buildings (great architecture!), which are well maintained over many years (which is naturally difficult on that place!). The rising problems seem to be more outside the hotel: From the beach you quite often suffer from loud music (e...
The beach was beautiful. I was the only foreigner there which was nice! There were some local tourists, nice little shops on the beach offering coconuts, food and drinks. it was really relaxing compared to the beaches in Chaung Tha center and cleaner. I had the whole female dorm to myself which was great (I got to stretch and have a mini without in the morning). The fo...
2 nights turned into 4, which turned into 7. It is just across the street from the beach and thus prices are fantastic. Breakfast is made to order each morning and a spread of more food than you need is served. The rooms are large and spacious, modern as it just opened and the swimming pool is clean. Grounds are well kept and the staff is fantastic! Cleaning staff...
We had a beachfront bungalow which was absolutely perfect. The beach wonderful and practically deserted. The room was spacious even with 2 extra beds for the kids. The food in the restaurant was very good, too. The breakfasts were ok - a limited choice but everything fresh and tasty. The dinners (we ate there twice) were a real feast - plenty of food, best quality and ...
Best location to the beach and nice service, no wifi, clean and comfortable, house is facing the sea. quiet and also not too far to the town.
We stayed 3 nights at the end of january in the beach view loft room. Great option for budget travelers. Room was spacious with air conditioning, hot water, fridge and king sized bed. Excellent facilities including a beautiful pool and lots of nice lounge chairs. The beach was clean, quiet and even had a life guard. The staff and service were great, received the same t...
The hotel is at the far end of the beach. This means it is a little bit far from town and other hotels, but it also means that it is nice and quiet and you get the beach to yourself. The hotel staff were very accommodating and help our large family figure out a way to stay in one room together. The food was fine and inexpensive. Overall a great place!
Beach and clear water are better than expected. Room is very clean. Staff are the best we have seen not only in Ngwe Saung but also all the hotels in Myanmar. The only thing is the hotel is at the southern most inNgwe Saung and far from the main village. But it’s good for the people who prefer a quiet place.
We spent at the hotel only one night as we arrived at Ngwe Saung one day earlier than planned and the hotel we stayed the remaining five days was fully booked for that date. But we used to come to Soe Ko Ko every day of our holidays - for a dinner or just to chat with Aung (the manager). The hotel is made of bamboo tree and nicely decorated in a Myanmar national style....
Would recommend to put some restrictions on fireworks at the beach. As it is now, it’s daily (hazardous) firework round from sun set, and lasting till well over midnight. Spoils an otherwise quite place.
Great helpfull stuff and very frindly people. Good food and Clean the people take care well of the garden end the envoriment. They know what to do and what to recomend to the Guest. Helpful with booking for the future Trips and planing. Every time i will go there Again.
Amazing!! We are a few backpackers and decided to stay somewhere nice for a few nights. The staff were very helpful. Some struggled with english but that was expected in an area they dont usually get tourists. The staff always made sure we were happy and were determined to give their best service. The resort itself is beautiful right on the beach. It has that tropical ...
Had a great time at his hotel, booked the dorm initially but moved to a private room, very spacious and clean. The view from the pool is amazing, especially at sunset! The food was good and reasonably priced, the chicken burger was delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly, the bar man Simon was informative and fun to talk to and hang out with during the day, I wish I...
We were traveling during NYE and had a hard time finding accommodations to pre-book in Chaungtha Beach. Then we saw that one bungalow was still available at Hill Garden Hotel and booked it even though we could find few reviews. I wanted to write this review because we were amazed at what we got for the price. The hotel is relatively new and fairly small with only 9...
A hidden gem! Lovely private rooms with shared showers. Located just inside the village so you can take in the local vibes. Good breakfast and the manager is a super nice and lovely person! Only drawback is that the showers are cold (no biggie, since this is the case in many of the hostels anyways). Came for 3 days and stayed for one week. If you are travelling the are...
Beautiful Hotel on the beach. We had an executive room with sea view, which was very large and also very clean. The pool is great, big enough to swim a few kilometers. The beach is very clean and completely empty. The area around is pretty quiet as the hotel is not directly in the village but a little bit up north. The breakfast is delicious. When there are enough gues...
Great location, clean, comfortable and nice views. The communication is difficult with the staff due to limited English (but they are really kind) so I'll run down a few things. You shouldn't pay more than 2,000 from the bus station to the hotel via a motorbike taxi, more expensive for a car though. Around 1,000 to travel anywhere within the city. 50 one way boat ride ...
the staff are the nicest people I’ve met so far in Asia, they would go above and beyond. The owner even went out of his way to arrange for me that my headphones which I left in the night bus would be brought back from Yangon to me. They washed all of my clothes for me when they got wet in tropical storm. The breakfast is amazing, and the people from the village are rea...
We loved our stay at Forest home. Bungalows are spacious and you have a nice size porch to sit on and enjoy amazing sunsets. Family who owns the place is very kind and helpful, it really felt like staying with our own family. They have very friendly doggy that slept on our porch most of the nights and wiggled his tail the moment we returned from the beach :). Beach i...
The owner is such a great guy, he really makes you feel at home. They really care about you having a good time. It's a really chilled out place, so nice sleeping in a hut and hearing birds and feeling the wind. Breakfast is good. Free bycicles to explore. Good location by the beach and away from busy centre, yet close by bike. The couple who own the massage parlour ne...
we wanted to stay 3 days but left after 1 night the vieuw from our terras was the garbish belt all the time the noise of the generator
The manager of this hotel made my trip amazing. He set up a motorbike for me to do to Ngwesaung for a fare price, booked my bus ticket back to Yangon (at cheaper than I could find!) and was very accommodating for references for meals etc... For me it was a bit expensive but compared to every other hotel it was cheap and I'm used to dorms so it was nice to have my own r...
We had a very nice time for this long weekend. The beach walks are just great, the sea was so warm and refreshing and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had lunch and dinner at other restaurants nearby because we were with other friends, and these were also great. Staff in this hotel are very very good, keeping the beach and hotel grounds very clean and the rooms w...

the family that runs the place is so nice and welcoming, and the place is clean and homey. the room was pretty basic and it's a bit far away from the beach, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Decent location, local restaurants and small grocers nearby, short walk to main pagoda and lively waterfront. Welcoming, helpful staff. Tasty rice option for breakfast. Taxi drivers at the eastern highway bus station know this hotel.
Entire staff and management polite, friendly, eager to assist and give recommendations. 24 hr service. Great performing AC and wifi. Excellent laundry service. Two free bottles of water per day. Nice breakfast on the roof. Good location. No wonder I returned after a few days further afield.
This was my first time I feel horrible on the hotel I book through Agoda. I am a solo backpacker have a lot of experiences on bad hotel but never through booking agoda. A single room quality equivalence to the jail cell. When I check the bath room it was even worst. So I asked for the better room he shows me slightly better condition but in the twice price but one thin...

Location is great , very near to the sea. Sea view bungalow is perfect and in front of swimming pool. The staffs are very friendly . I choose this hotel because of it's layout plan to take nice picture.
