Where to stay in Bagmati
Bagmati hotels & accommodations
It is an old palace converted to hotel with big beautiful garden. Pool is small but beautiful. Rooms are spacious. Some are quite big in comparison to others so it is advisable to look for a couple of rooms before checking in. Breakfast was very decent and different kinds of tastes were catered to. Food at the restaurant was not that good for my family. There are bette...
This is a 5* hotel and at this price you expect 5* service and quality. And mostly this is what we got, the room was big and mostly worked well, the service was faultless, especially the staff on the Customer Services desk. The location is great, easy walking distance to the shops/bars/restaurants on Durbar Marg and not far to Thamel. Be warned, Nepal is suffering from...
As our original booking at some other hotel was canceled by Agoda at short notice we had to quickly book something else (while already on the way to the airport. Agoda suggested some options and one was the new Royal Penguin. We were pleasantly surprised as we found a hotel in the heart of Thamel with well-trained and very friendly staff, with with well-kept rooms (ok,...
spent 2 nights there after arriving in Kathmandu, then after 2 nights in Nagarkot hilltop village came back to Shambala. By far the best hotel I stayed in while in Nepal. Breakfast was 1st class as was the staff, also comfortable clean room. After returning from walking around the chaotic streets it was so nice to have a relaxing massage in the Spa followed by dinner in...
The hotel first impressed us by its design. It is a very nice hotel. It makes you feel like you are in an old nobleman house. The staff are efficient, yet friendly. There is also a yoga class every morning. The manager was great. We missed the morning yoga class as we need to leave for Pokhara very early the next day. When we came back to KTM and the hotel was fully bo...
The hotel is located in nice place, not far from crowded area. Transports and everything is near by. Hotel people are also nice to guide you for your trip. I was there for one night with my 9 years old Son, hotel upgraded my room. The only thing that not match with the hotel as called 5 star is its swimming pool. Its quality, services, maintenance, amenities and manage...
I had a wonderful stay in Avataar Kathmandu. The location is right in the centre of Thamel but yet it was quite and peaceful. After three weeks of trekking I booked another 3 star hotel in Kathmandu . The hotel was ok but there were no electricity and hot water -Nepal is in energy crisis- after three days I decided to move to Avataar Kathmandu hotel after reading all ...
This is my second time staying here, this time with my mum who always dreamed of visiting Nepal for 10 days. When we checked in, we had booked the best room and they gave us this small, dirty old room in which we were quite shocked. When we asked to look at another room they gave us the biggest with a large balcony just over reception which is what we should have gotte...
The Hyatt is located close to the airport, which was the main reason for our choice as we had a dawn Everest flight the following morning. We spent the evening in the casino which was great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It was incredibly cheap (booked through agoda) for a 5* star hotel.
I have travelled quite a bit and have stayed at all types of hotels in my lifetime, but I have never seen a hotel like this one. It is beautiful, its in the city but as soon as you walk in everything outside those doors disappears. I really could see myself staying in the hotel and not venturing out at all! The hotel is in a great location, quite close to Thamel area. The staff are friendly and helpful but it does not have the 5 star appeal of other hotels we have stayed at. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the Indian restaurant was excellent. The pool and surrounding area is pleasant with a good bar area serving food. The room service staff added extra base c...
This property spanning around 22 acres in the most perfect location outside of Kathmandu pampers all of the senses from the visual to the sublime. The staff is outstanding, the rooms encompass gorgeous views, and the food is some of the best in the world. Probably one of the best quaint hotels in Thamel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They made good recommendations for where to eat and where to buy what you need. The room is unbelievably well designed and supplied with everything you need -- water, toiletries, slippers. The breakfast is just cherry on top of a very delicious cake.
This has to be one of the most memorable experiences I've had. The place is a magical winter land just without the snow. It's everything you would expect from a hill resort. The hotel has gardens, flowers, swings, pool, hot tub, spa, colors, lemongrass incense everywhere to the point even the bed sheets smell of it while you sleep at night. Each room has a balcony with...

I was impressed by pictures and detailed descriptions of rooms on agoda website - but when I saw these glass installations live in my living room and bathroom I was really stunned. The lighting is amazing. I like most the huge ceiling lamp on the second floor of the restaurant – I felt myself like I’m in a theater or something. Ceiling in the lobby has many-coloure...
our family of five recently stayed here and upon check-in the staff told us connecting rooms were not available even though i'd contacted the hotel prior to arrival stating this is what we needed since we had small children. the staff were very accommodating in working with us to find a larger room and moving two cots into it so that we could all be in one room. very...
Myself and my girlfriend had a wonderful time at Hotel Mulberry! When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeting with mango juice and shown to our room. We had booked a Junior Suite, which my girlfriend and I both agreed was even nicer than the pictures. The room is spacious, the beds are very comfortable and the bathroom had both a separate bath and shower. The ho...
The best thing about this hotel is its views as it's placed in a relatively remote part of Nagarkot. The views from each room (all rooms have balconies/face the mountains) are breathtaking. However this also happens to be it's fatal flaw where there are not many facilities nearby nor did the hotel take steps at providing them. This is one of the more expensive places t...
I have been travelling for 30 years to all corners of the world including the best room in the top 5 star hotel in Kathmandu yet the Ambassador Garden Home was the best value hotel I have stayed in. The hotel had a friendly atomphere with a high class service. Exceptional staff i have seen here, always helpful with pleasing personalities. It was very nice hotel. I booked a suite room. They gave the best room for me. It was very beautiful like my imagination. I loved everything about that room. From colour to design to painting. It was just a picture perfect room for me. I will defo come back and stay in this hotel. And highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed with my family on this hotel, the management and staffs were quite helpful, one small suggestion is to improve on the Internet connectivity from rooms, it's not bad but needs improvement, hotel is quite good with good breakfast ( they arranged Indian breakfast items as well which should be continued as default), the amazing part was that the owner Mr. Deepak...
The couple of days we stayed at the Hotel was nothing short of ultimate bliss and relaxation. No words can aptly describe the scrumptious food or the serenity of the mountain view from the hotel. Only reason I am giving 4 star for the facilities is the lack of "Ginger ale" at the bar or the restaurant despite the menu indicating otherwise, and for the slightly high cos...
A lovely, stately hotel with a nice garden, outdoor pool and decent gym. There was also a tennis court though we didn't end up using it. Breakfast was nice, the lobby bar was cute, people were lovely, and there were some good local restaurants and shops within walking distance.
When I booked the hotel they offered me a complimentary pick up from the airport which was great. The pick up was on time and I was greeted well at the hotel. The staff did everything to try to make my stay good and were happy to sit and chat to me about my stay and how they could make it better. The location is great and walking distance to Thamel and shops, bars an...
Hands down the best hotel during our stay in Nepal. The room we had was large and very clean. Everything was well-maintained and modern which is hard to come by in Nepal. The shower worked perfect with lots of hot water during winter. The breakfast was good enough too. The real winner here is the staff. The manager personally greeted and welcomed us when we arrived and...
My friend and I were really happy with Hotel Osho. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. The staff was very helpful. They picked us up from the airport, answered our questions, exchanged money, helped us find supplies we needed and booked plane tickets to Lukla for us. Communication via email was very efficient. The room was super comfortable...
I came during the monsoon time. Then Kathmandu is not too hot, although humid. I decided to try out the non-AC, shared bathroom part of this 3-star hotel and I found it good enough. The room is still big enough with a desk. It has a powerful fan and windows opening on opposite sides to get some breeze through. The shower and bathroom are just outside the room in the co...

Cheap places to stay in Bagmati
We went to Kathmandu to start here the Annapurna Circuit. And it was the best dessicion to stay at the famous house. The guys from the Hotel we‘re so friendly and kind! They helped us organizing all stuff we needed for the circuit and guided us through the City to find everything. In Addition to that we could leave some stuff at the Hotel for free during the hike. Alth...
we have stayed in hotel thamel before, and to this day their standards have not dropped at all. the hotel is situation very close to the main tourist area of thamel; however, despite this, you do not experience the noise from that area. the hotel is very peaceful. the rooms are very bright and clean. the food is probably the best you will find in thamel. if you ne...
If you are traveling on a budget and you want to explore Durbar Square, I highly recommend Wanderlust. Excellent value considering the location. WiFi was strong and reliable. Bed was sufficient. Hot water in the bathroom although I had to wash myself with water from a bucket (small inconvenience). Easy and reliable laundry service. Very friendly and helpful staff. The...
This homestay is located steeply downhill from the main road in Swayambu, next to a filthy stream. There was a sewer odor in the house. Although advertised as a room with private bathroom, my large room had only access to a rooftop shared toilet (plugged up most of the time) and cold shower. There was no access to a sink, so all toothbrushing was done over a drain in ...
This is for me, the best option to stay in Bhaktapur: in the middle of city center, close to a lot of pagodas and temples, simple but good breakfast, and cheap... Next time I'm going to stay here again!
Superb Location. Clean with good showers (and hot water!). Staff are very shy/not communicative (perhaps because of poor English?), was difficult to get any information from them (transport, tours, treks, places to eat etc. They had no clue). We arrived at 9pm on the first night and asked if there were places to eat to which they responded that everything was closed an...
Bed a bit small and the kitchen needs more essentials. Lovely rooftop. With great views We had a lovely time in a nice neighbourhood 8minutes walk from the Boudhastupa.
Great vegetarian menu, amazing people and a warm hospitable vibe, I couldn't have asked for more. Before, after or even during (if your flight is cancelled ) trekking, Hotel Yog provided a relaxing atmosphere where you felt at home and free to be yourself. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the area and are always willing to help you with your plans or trave...
My friends and i stayed in the hotel, two days before and two days after our trek. We booked a room for 3, which come with a nice attached bathroom. We didnt know that our booking comes with free breakfast, until the owner asked us, why arent we having our breakfast? And we are glad he asked! Breakfast was nice with free flow of coffee/ milk tea. Hotel staff are friend...
i like this guest house because of it is very close to shopping center. I stayed this guest house more then 15 times because of people are very friendly and manager San speaking Japanese so I feel like my home. I do a business here to buy a clothes and sell to Japan. first time to kathmandu and the staff offered a pick up service so it was cool, i was glad to meet the driver at the airport and asked him to drop me first to the tourism board to get my trekking permit (it was almost closed). he even lend me rupees as i havent exchanged my currencies to pay the permits. the last day i stayed i got to meet the owner, he was really frie...
The hotel is centrally located close to all the necessary amenities like many restaurants, walking distance to Katmandu Durbar Sq, the staff and the owner Mr Hritik is an honest and friendly person and very often he walks with us to the sightseeing place to show us where it is. Highly recommended. Best Value for our money. You will not regret.
Would definitely recommend Nomad to all the travelers. Located right in the center of Thamel (gets noisy sometimes but can still sleep through it) Close to good restaurants and cheap mountain gear shopping. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They reply really fast to all the WhatsApp inquiries. Rooms are comfortable with loads of pillows and blankets, ...
In the entire of town so location is good. Also close to other hostels so lots of backpackers around. Super friendly staff who booked tours for us. Hot showers and wifi in bedrooms
Quiet location is good.there are many restaurants and shops.and shopping is very convenience! The hot shower of my room was bad.
Brand new facilities and very clean rooms. Great shower and bathroom. A safe place to stay. Very nice staff and they spoke great English. The included breakfast was very good with an Omelette or Boiled Egg, Tea or Coffee, 2 Slices of Toast with Butter and Jam and 1 Banana. The Hotel also has a good restaurant just around the corner. We were able to leave our excess lug...
Enjoy the real Kathmandu up in the hills away from the worst dust and pollution of the city. The family is nice and the mother makes amazing dhal bhat! Recommended!
I stayed at Hotel Himalaya Yoga in Thamel, Kathmandu for more than a week. Initially, I only booked for 2 nights. I came here because of a positive review from a Kathmandu Guide book. I extended my stay after the first 2 nights. I've been staying in this hotel for a week already. Will stay for a few more days before I head to India. These are the good things abou...
what else can you say about this place? best hostel in Kathmandu. awesome staff, friendly and warm environment. balconies galore. i will be back.
I loved my time at alobar1000. The staff are amazing, really welcoming and friendly and make an effort to learn your name and get to know you. The bathrooms are really clean with great hot showers. The rooftop is a really nice place to hang out and a good place to meet people. The food is really cheap and tasty and the location is very central. All in all the perfect p...
Booked private room on agoda and there was none free on arrival had to sleep in friends room
Super friendly team, comfortable stay, clean rooms and rather quiet environnement (for Thamel, which is never really totally quiet!). And there are even free lockers for all your stuff! This place has become my new home in KTM and I keep coming back here.

Booked a Standard Double Room but Kiran, the owner of the hotel gave us an upgrade to the Deluxe Room. All rooms were very clean, comfortable and worth every penny. All 3 rooms on each floor are guarded with a main door that can be locked from inside to prevent outsiders from intruding so security is definitely promising. Staff were extremely kind, helpful and friend...
We were not so sure how it's gonna be after the earthquake, but Thamel area is totally back to normal just without tourists. Our Stay in Hotel Norling has been awesome! Nepal has electricity cut out but hotel see...
Very good guest house and very good staff! We had a very good time with other backpaker and with staff! we traveled during 6 month and this guest house is just the best!!
Cozy and very comfortable room, with a wonderful atmosphere. Fast wifi, clean rooms and very good service. The hotel is in the best area of the city on the outskirts of Tamel, where it was quiet and peaceful, unlike the central street. The price was also quite good for this area. The owner of the hotel was very kind and benevolent person, he told many interesting thi...
For a cheap stop in Kathmandu this place is perfect. The beds are not as comfy as they look in the photos haha but not uncomfortable either. The shower was a mission to understand, but at least it ran hot for a shower! Staff are very helpful. I stayed 24-28 Dec 2012 and found HSH to be pretty nice. It required some flexibility- of course the room was different (details below) and I had to work out my travel package. A lot of services they claim (tv, room service) aren’t there, but when you’re paying approx $8 USD a night, it’s a great deal. And the showers were HOT. I dealt with the front desk person, the o...
Last minute stumbled upon Yado240 guesthouse after finished trekking n turned out to be the best stay in Kathmandu. I was very pleased with my stay. The hotel had recently been renovated and is modern and smart. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is good - there are many restaurants in the hotel and up the road and it is a short walk from Thamel. Good breakfasts.
By far the best of the three 4-5 star Kathmandu hotels we stayed in during our trip to Nepal. If you’re looking for a hotel to stay in Boudhanath, Kathmandu, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN HOTEL GHANGRI. Perhaps you feel that you should stay right around the stupa. After my 18-day stay, I would advise against it. I booked this place for 4 nights a couple of years ago after trying other hotels in the Thamel area and decided that this was by far the best of them all. Stayed here again a total of 7 nights on my 4 week holiday in Nepal earlier this month and once again was not disappointed. It really is a haven of peace and tranquillity in the chaos that can be Thamel. As the nam...
The Arts hotel the best hotel in Themal are becouse bear of all thing (ATM).Bank.shoping.and also the staf are very very freindly and the General Manger to solve any problem imdatly. The room its very very clean and the service room also good last when you came to Nepal and stay in this hotel
when we entered into the resort, we thought, what kind of place is this. but when we went towards our room, by seeing the walkway, lots and lots of trees and lush green surroundings, felt really relaxed. this hotel is away from the noise pollution of traffic and you can enjoy your stay with peace. Great location, friendly people, concerned for giving you the best. I have a great time in Kathmandu
One of the best hotell experience in Kathmandu. Lays around the bend from one of the nicest Streets with a lot of shopping and great restaurants.
Will like to make special mention of their Asst Manager Sales , Sita , who had ensured that our office meeting happened without any issues . She is a thorough professional with attention to details. Wishing the entire team there all the very best
I stayed at hotel yechu for a night, was very happy with operations at hotel yechu. I was very impressed with friendly staff, peaceful location. Spent two days here. Is located in front of the river with a great view. Clean rooms, very friendly staff and good breakfast.
Clean, quiet and comfortable. More three star than four star by international standards but a nice place to stay nevertheless and I would stay there again. Nice little garden out back and the hotel is at the end of a quiet road. Internet WiFi was not good, single room was rather small but the twin bed rooms are quite spacious
Had an amazing experience while staying here. Great food at their restaurant/cafe, live music on Friday’s night, farmers market on Saturday’s morning, great coffee and atmosphere, comfy bed and very lovely rooms. Didn’t want to leave. Best place to stay after all your trekking and activities finished.

An oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle Kathmandu, great atmosphere, great decor. 3 great restaurants in the adjustment garden/Art Gallery. And we are also very glad to rediscover the great art of hotel concierge that's lost in a lot of 5 star hotels, in Baber Mahal Vilas Kathmandu. A superb experience. Thank you so much.
We arrived on time but waited for two hours because the local agent of Agoda in Kathmandu didn't make the booking/reservation on Crown Plaza's site. Place was not clean bathroom hair in drai and filthy shower curtain so I did not shower. Asked about airport taxi for next day and was told 300 - 400 rps. Next morning manager offered ride and when arriving at airport demanded 2000 reps. What appeared to ...
