Bago Division hotels & places to stay

I really enjoyed this hotel. The pictures do not do it justice. Its really beautiful. The hotel is in a bungalow style. Front porches with chairs all facing the walk way. The grounds are very well kept and you can eat on tables in the middle of the hotel walk way or in the restaurant. The beds are comfee and the shower is the best so far in Myanmar. The food in the hotel restaurant is good. Try the Tomato Salad. The staff have a good sense of humor and attempt to speak English. One down fall. Do not leave your room door open. Lots of bugs. Bring your bug spray to this town and use it.

One day wasn't enough. I was recommended to do a day trip to bago but I decided to book a hotel for one night stay. It was such a relaxing place that one day trip was very short. I was planning to explore around the town but end up at the hotel half of the day due to heavy rain but during my trip to Myanmar , that was the most relaxing day. The hotel is far enough from the busy & noisy city centre yet all the attractions I went are like 10 mins away. Transportation is easily available as the motorbike taxi stand is just outside the hotel plus the hotel provides free transportation to the main road. The food was great esp the Burmese traditional tea leaves salad which I recommend to try . All staff are very helpful and always at your service. The manager speaks English well so I was able to get alot of information from him. I will def go there again.

First and foremost, I would like to recommend this hotel as one of the best hotels. I'm sure you will get the different and great feelings with the ancient architectural designs. Secondly, I highly appreciate the hostilities of all the staffs. The receptionists are very helpful with sweet smiles and with zero complaints. They are always alert even when I made a call at 6 am early in the morning. The housekeeping staffs are very polite, active and smiling as well. I will look forward into visiting this hotel again.

I booked a couple of nights at the Myanmar Beauty on the strength of reviews online and was not disappointed. I took a standard room without aircon but the fans were sufficient for the weather at the time. My room also had access to a lovely wide balcony. The breakfast was highly recommended and met all my expectations. I was served my own personal banquet of small dishes. I couldn't identify most of them but they were delicious ! I also ended up going on a trip overnight to a village in the hills where working elephants are still used. This is relatively pricey but if you have the budget and interest, definitely worth considering. It would be best to book this ahead though. The trip was well organised and our guide was great. Be prepared for basic accommodation if you go overnight. Day trips are also available.

What a gem! For the money this is definitely the best hotel we have come across in 6 months of traveling SE Asia. Price was cheaper online ($23 usd) than in person, but still great either way. The building is new. Rooms are clean, spacious, and well planned. There are plenty of outlets accepting US devices and a desk for working. The wall-mounted tv has a handful of English movie channels and the bed is especially comfortable. WiFi works well and the curtains keep the room especially dark when sleeping in. You'll want to get up for breakfast though. It's different each day and always delicious. Juice, coffe, fruits, a main course and 2-3 side dishes. Like most Taungoo hotels accepting foreigners it is situated outside of town. This keeps it peacefully quiet, and if you're wishing to explore there are bicycles and motorbikes for rent at fair prices (5k - 10k). The hotel has a full kitchen restaurant next door which is cheap and every meal we tried was pretty great . Maybe the best part was the service and hospitality. The owner and front desk staff spoke good English and helped immensely with onward travel to Lokiaw. She even called some hotels and reserved our next night.. Our laundry was well done / folded, and hot water was sent to our room multiple times for tea.

We arrived in Pyay late in th evening and most hotels were already booked. Hotel Nawaday was not our first choice but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are nothing special and could have been cleaner but the bed was comfy and the surroundings quiet. The breakfast was delicious. The staff spoke limited English but was very courteous and professional. They helped us book our bus ticket to Bagan. They made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We booked a tour with a local guide in the morning but we were quite tired in the afternoon. Even though we were past checkout, the staff let us use a room for a couple of hours for free to rest. As for the area, keep in mind that most hotels are close to the river and away from the city. There are only a few of them and they tend to book really fast. We felt like we were the only tourists in town and most people spoke only broken English.

The wetlands are really calm and beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Apart from the boat tour there's not much to do, so if you want to get out of the crazy Yangon traffic, this is the place to be: No TV, no free Wifi - bring a good book or board games. Food is good, plentiful, and service is fast. Rooms are basic; the boat bungalows are overpriced in my opinion, though they have been recently repainted. Mosquito nets provided. Maintenance needed to replace broken boards on the walkways. The foreigner price for boat tour is too much: $15 per person (without a guide), though we enjoyed the early morning trip to the wetlands, watching the sun rise with only the sound of birds (and boat engine). Improved English would be a big help, though we did manage to communicate :)

By far one of my favorite places I have stayed at in the past 2 months that I have been traveling. The staff are very friendly and do there best to help you with any questions you have, and they always try to make you feel comfterable while staying there. If you are looking for a quiet and pleasant place to stay in Taungoo, where you can access both downtown and the mountains fairly easy, I highly recommend coming here. Also there French toast is great :D

We were welcomed at 4am and they gave us a room without charging us. Little room but comfy with good AC. Very good shower. Free hot/cold water to drink. Best breakfast in Myanmar so far (3 weeks). Location OK as no real center in Bago, not far from bus station. Cheap beer ans complimentary peanuts. Everyone very nice. Watchout: there's a guy ( red face with lots of spots) whose business card reads "Sea Sar" that owns a tourism agency in the bus station. He waits for every tourist bus and accompanies you to your hotel (which is nice, the bus stopped just in front of ours thanks to him). Then he tries to sell you tours, which are not bad value, but we ended paying a little more (12000Ks instead of 10000Ks) because the price agreed with us was different from the one told to the driver in Burmese. Also sells overpriced bus tickets.

Having read other review's wasn't sure what to expect, the hotel is located about 3 km from town about 500 m down a side road. The rooms are big and spacious and reasonabley clean. A very quiet location. The breakfast is a bit hit and miss, after cold friend eggs we asked for omelette. The local breakfast looked OK . Others have made a comment about smells in the bathroom. We put the plugs in the basin and bath waste and covered the drain on the bathroom floor with a plastic bag. This worked. Very little English is spoken and the problems seems to be that everything is run by young lads who try hard but appear to have no experience. Having said all that for the price we paid I would stay there again. We rented bicycles in town which helped. Pyay is not a tourist town so be prepared to eat local . There is,a lack of tourist information. We visited the ancient city about 7 km out of town lonely planet says no bikes, this is incorrect you can cycle round the sites. We rented an Ox and cart for a couple of hours for 7000 khat.

the hotel was misleading in its lication about 10 k from town but could not help us get transport to town. breakfast invluded 1 cup of coffe and rice noodles or a cold sandwich of ubcooked vegetables.
