Find Hotels in Mon Division, Myanmar

There are only a few hotels in the area for tourists. Apparently tourists are not allowed to stay on the mountain after dark, unless you are booked into a hotel here. But no one is really checking so I am confused. There are a lot of locals hanging out and sleeping on the prayer grounds. They either bring their own blankets or rent them. So I am sure if you are a rough it out sort of traveler, you could blag it? I am not sure. I was traveling as a single female so I booked a hotel. You cannot leave the golden rock before seeing it during sunset and at night. And no, you will not be able to catch it before the last truck goes down. This is by far the most expensive hotel for my whole Myanmar travel since I am on a budget. I met a French girl who wanted to stay on the mountain but she didn't book anything. I offered to share and so I paid half. This is a better price for the hotel considering there is nothing to do after night fall and nothing too special about this hotel. It is a walk from the rock which is good because the locals make quite a racket near the rock. This hotel is also near the most high end hotel on the mountain (cannot remember the name). The breakfast is a buffet but the spread is weak. Eggs, noodles, rice, rice porridge, fruit, tea and coffee. The wifi is ok but it is only available at the lobby. Shower pressure and hot water is good but drainage is not so great.Only good for a one night stay. Read on a lot of sites and they say there is no food after night fall but that is not true, there are streets of local food. They do not have prices though so beware to pick the one that offer you a good deal.

The staff was professional and helpful. They gave me directions to the place where I could book a boat to Hpa An, and where I could buy more sunblock (just around the corner). It was a delightful walk up Strand Road to the heart of the city (the markets). The room was spotless. The shower worked great. There was even a bathtub, but I didn't test it out. The wifi in room 208 (great view overlooking the front of the hotel and the river, by the way) worked well enough. And they provided the best hotel breakfast I've had so far in Myanmar. Fantastic!

This hotel is like a resort a bit outside Kinpun. Our room was very spacious and clean. Same thing with the toilet. AC was a bit dated but worked well. Hot water in the shower and free toiletries. We had a kettle and a fridge in our room. Old TV. Foam mattress, but not uncomfortable. Breakfast was excellent: local or continental with eggs any style, fruit, toast, etc. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced (same price as other touristy restaurants in town). The staff were friendly and helpful. They booked our bus ticket to Bago. The bus stopped right in front of the hotel to pick us up. This hotel is very good value for money, at least in low season.

This was my second stay at the Cinderella Hotel. Originally booked a triple room (twin with extra bed), then cancelled the extra bed only to require it again once we arrived. The extra bed was provided no problems and charged separately. Although check-in took a little bit of time due to having to print out the Agoda voucher, afterwards we were quickly provided with an extra towel for the third guest in our party and like last time, we enjoyed the free goodies such as orange juice, cookies and the laptop (although we also brought our own). The hotel restaurant was easily the best choice for eating and this having been my third trip to Mawlamyine (and second overnight stay) I still haven't managed to eat outside the hotel, but given the excellent choices and quality of food at the hotel restaurant there has been little reason to.

The property is on the higway from Yangon to Golden Rock. Many coaches stop by for lunch here. We were coming from Golden Rock and spent the night at the resort. I have no complaint on the room, service and meal apart from the higher prices charged as compared to similar facilities in Mawlamyine where we came from. I suppose this is tourists price and my guide told me.that it is the same price level for the region.

Our stay at this hotel was rather short, due to the worst traffic jam ever encountered in Myanmar, a 4.5 hour standstill from 9pm to 1.30am near Kyondo, Kayin State along the main Myawady to Hpa-an highway due to a major Kayin full moon festival. So after arriving at the hotel at 4.10am after a 10 hour drive from Myawady (normally a 3.5-4.5 hour journey depending on road conditions), we were rightfully exhausted. Fortunately staff were on duty and very professional, check-in was quick and we were whisked to our rooms (only two of us booked online, the other members of our party walked-in). Breakfast was quite good, lots of choices at the buffet and the pool looked fantastic, unfortunately we didn't have time to use it as we had to be on our way for our business meetings etc. and thus checked out at 10am. Next time I'm in Mawlamyine, I'll stay here again. Only slight disadvantage is it's location - without a car, it's a bit far from town (around 10-15min drive) though I assume there is some public transport nearby given the hotel is located along the main Mawlamyine highway and near the railway station. Note that this hotel's rates are much cheaper on Agoda than walk-in rates.

Located at the base of Golden Rock, the location can't be beat. Coming from Yangon on a 8:30pm bus and arriving at Golden Rock at 12:30am, I just wanted to wash up and get straight to bed. You literally step off the bus and the hotel is right there (remember to get a bus to Kinpun, which is the mountain base. Kyaiktiyo is about 15 minutes away). I was pleasantly surprised by the facilities, it was absolutely sufficient for a night. AC was on blast when I entered and more than enough room for one person. Having stayed at hostels before, the shared bathroom was fine, it was clean and spacious with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. I've seen much grimier places. I also had breakfast the next morning and ordered the stir fried noodles which was also very tasty! For a hotel breakfast in Myanmar, It exceed my expectations. Staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Yes, this is more expensive than other places, it isn't a 5 star by any means and people just need to reset expectations. You are definitely paying a premium for the location here which is sandwiched between the trucks that take you up Golden Rock and the bus terminal to take you to other cities. It really can't be beat.

If you are looking for a quiet, restful stay in a garden setting, this is for you. The hotel is new and well built, with a pretty garden. While it is out of town, it is just 5 min away on a motorbike taxi, 1000 to 2000 kyats each way. The vibe is friendly without being intrusive and the family who runs in has definitely put in a lot of effort in trying to be as hospitable as they can. If you are up for it, request Mon and Burmese food instead of what they have on their menu. Those who enjoy spicy, savoury food will enjoy it.

What an amazing place!! My room was totally outstanding....hot water in a huge bathroom...a beautiful veranda to sit out on. My bed was really comfortable. A warm welcome from the staff. My breakfast was very fulfilling. .fried rice with fried egg and toast butter and jam with lipton tea! I didnt need to think about good until lunch! The restaurant is so chilled out and designed in such a cool way. Hotel is located just outside of town (10 minute walk from bus drop off). Its also 5 minutes walk from the golden rock truck stop. I had a lovely club sandwich for lunch and an amazing burger and fries for dinner! The big thing about the restaurant which appealed to me was the draft beer!! Just what I needed after a hot day out at the golden rock. The staff were so attentive and arranged my bus trip for my onward journey. The grounds of the hotel are sooo relaxing with trees and gardens and I felt like I was in a resort in the carribean! I would recommend this hotel 100% and I had np problems whatsoever. If your leaving early in the morning for onward travel wear a jersey as its a little bit cold in the mornings. This hotel has the feeling of a family hotel. I was kinda at odds as to what to do after dinner so took a walk and had tea in a tea shop and stumbled across an indoor fun fair called "Smileworld" cheesy but fun with a ferris wheel...dodgems..video games..haunted spooky house! Passed the time. The village has various shops for souvenirs and food and is very close to the hotel. Overall I had an amazing experience at lotus away from the craziness of myanmar. Thanks to all the staff and hope to see you again!

Stunning location on the side of a forested hill with sweeping views over an infinity pool to free forest and more distant blue mountain ridges. Beautifully layer out large garden style compound with plenty of mature trees, flowers, birds and butterflies amid well Placed garden tables/ seating and viewing places. Lovely open restaurant with attentive staff and delicious food - less oily than elsewhere in Mon State. Very helpful staff in all areas - Room, reception, bar etc. Spotless pool with beautiful view. Overall, lack of hot water and no English language TV station are very minor complaints. Highly recommended.

Parami hotel is ideally located if you arrive to Malawmyine by bus as it is only 2mn walk from the bus terminal. However you will need a taxi to go to the centre, but it is very cheap. The hotel is located off the main road but travelers don't need to worry as you can't hear anything from the bungalows. The rooms are very clean with AC and good water pressure. What makes the difference here is the lovely and very professional staff. They are very happy to meet people from different countries and are very helpful. You can ask them for recommendations of what to do and where to go, they can even help arranging tuk-tuk or taxi for you. Our booking didnt include breakfast but they kindly offer us coffee, they kept our bags while we were visiting the city and let us wait for the bus at the reception with drinks. We will definetly stay there again, it is actually the best value for money we ever had in Myanmar with a dedicated lovely staff.

If you are brave and on a budget, this place is great. Highly enjoyed my stay of one night and slept well. It's a place to sleep with lots of lovely plants around. Drank beer and played cards until we tucked in. There's a squat outside the main building which I enjoyed thoroughly. It's you're up for a Real experience and not luxury, by all means book it. Also, staff are awesome and walked up to the bus station.

I wonder what people complain about. It's not the Hilton but I didn't pay for this kind of service either. Pros: - Didn't have to ask for breakfast, it was served both days and was delicious and in big portions - Cheap - Next to the train station and pagodas' hill (perfect to enjoy the sunset); shops and street food across the street - The staff would do their best to help Cons - no wifi but who cares? With telenor you get a SIM card for 1500 kyats and an internet plan of 2Gb for 6000 kyats! Worth going to smaller hotels for the rest of your trip - no window in the room so it was hotter in this tiny 1-person bedroom than outside (the only downside as far as I'm concerned) - Far from the city centre, night market, etc. but it's nothing special anyway I recommend this place and I would go again!

The hotel has everything in order, but we didn't stay there for another night. The room, although big was kind of a cage; had a huge window in the room but no way to open i, just the glass. Most of the time we felt like being under a heavy surveillance of the staff - don't know if it was their way of showing how they care about us, or were they just concerned that we'd steal a napkin from the restaurant. All the comments about the hotel being far away from everything - we do not agree with them, as there are many local shops and bars in a 5 min walking distance. In other words: we liked the location. Next day we moved to the hotel next door which was cheaper, far more pleasant (no surveillance), had better breakfast and a swimming pool, but you couldn't book it on Agoda.

Mawlamyine is seriously lacking in accommodation options. If you can't get a room at the Cinderella, I'd consider this to be the next best option. It's a bit farther from the main part of town (about 20 minutes walking) but it's a nice walk along the river or cheap motorcycle taxi ride. My room was huge, strong air conditioning, and I was satisfied with the western bathroom (at the time I was the only one using it). NO WIFI.

Our stay at Attran Hotel made the visit of Mawlamyine to a wonderful expirience. The villa directly at the river front had exactly the elegant vintage colonial style we are always looking for. Watching the sunset across the river from our balcony or having the same romantic view from the restaurant together with a cold beer was really great. Food at the restaurant was great too. We recommend the seafood casseroll. Overall service was perfect due to the new manager who himself was present all the time offering help and advice. We think this hotel will have a bright future and we surely will recommend it to all our friends and come back for a stop on our next trip to Myanmar. The Mawlamyine Strand Hotel was the most expensive place I lodged while in Myanmar for 24 days. I decided to splurge for one night near the end of my trip at a place that looked to offer superior comfort and cleanliness. I was not disappointed in these areas. The room was clean and spacious. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable of all the places I stayed in Myanmar. The bathroom was clean for the most part, but like every place I stayed the shower had some slight mold and the fixtures looked unclean. Despite the shower enclosure, the shower water leaked into the rest of the bathroom. The shower stall needed a thorough cleaning and better fixtures to be up to international standards. The food and cocktails were not exceptional. I suggest seeking out food and drinks elsewhere. The staff was very attentive and kind, but English is not spoken other than at reception. So the bar and restaurant staff struggled with questions about food, etc. I did enjoy watching the sunset from the outdoor bar and then going up to the hallway outside my room to watch the final sunset colors fade over the water.

The rooms here are very nice, but unfortunately this doesn't make up for the fact that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere (definitely not at the foot of Mt K as it suggests!!) and is so poorly run. When we arrived they didnt't have our reservation and left us waiting for a long time while they frowned and discussed amongst themselves what to do about these strangers before them. We stayed there under the false impression that it was close to the Golden Rock, but we found out it was a 2 hour round trip to get there so we didn't even have time in the end! We didn't find this out through the hotel staff though, as none of them spoke one word of English, which made everything very difficult - even asking for toilet paper! Noone at the hotel had even heard of the Golden Rock and couldn't / didn't help us. The restaurant onsite has no prices on the menu so we were charged an extortionate 6000 chat for a tiny plate of prawns, after the waitress had told us everything was 1-2000. We asked them to book us a bus for the next day which, after much time and chirades, we thought was sorted, then the next day they tried to charge us double to what had been offered the day before, so we missed the bus. As I say, the rooms are nice, but there is really no reason to stay here unless you just want to have a stopover on the way to Yangon and are happy to not be understood or have any help!

I cant comment as we didnt make it to our hotel due to a mix up with our motorcycle taxi driver. We ended up in Kinpun at the Shwe Hinn Thar 'H'otel and as it was getting late and 30 minute drive back we decided to stay there instead which was perhaps a bad decision as the room at the Hotel was mouldy and mosquito ridden, oh well. At least we were closer to golden rock which made our morning easier.
