This hotel really was AMAZING and one of the best we've been to anywhere in the world.. It is not fancy and high-end,.. but just simple and understated. And that is the sheer beauty of it! You get picked up from the airport in an awesome old-skool bus and that's where your holiday begins. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they looked after us so well and greeted us with the warmest of smiles! If you can, I would HIGHLY recommend booking one of beachfront villas. There are few pleasures in life better than waking up each morning and being able to walk straight out onto the sandy beach! The breakfast was plentiful - we definitely put on a few pounds during our stay. The hotel grounds are so pretty - lovely green gardens and wooden walkways and buildings. It felt so tranquil. But the highlight of the stay is that incredible beach. Such a quiet one and stunning golden sand with blue waters. This is what we came for!

We originally booked a Superior room but were not happy (rooms are in separate block near road with limited aspect) and upgraded to Deluxe rooms, staying in all 4 room-types! The hotel is arguably in the best location on the beach, being central (an interesting gentle stroll a mile each way), and very close to a range of cheap beach shacks selling primarily fish dishes. The manageress is highly proactive and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful in this well-run hotel. Food is of a good quality and we alternated between hotel, beach shacks and other hotels. We visited other hotels during our strolls/dinners, but prices seemed a lot higher, and dining-rooms were often deserted (The Bayview being the exception). It's a great place for romantic relaxation after the rigours of touring, but I would also consider it favourable to Thailand for a quiet/romantic beach holiday. Regarding the rooms, Superior are okay if you are on a budget and want a great location, but I strongly recommend a Deluxe; all Deluxe are double the size with identical lay-out and have the nice aspects you would expect from a beach resort; as you move up from Garden view to Second row sea view to First row sea view you get little extras, and of course, better views. I would go for Garden view which represent best value for money, and if you can afford it then indulge yourself in a couple of nights First row seaview to get a taste of the high-life.

I loved this hotel! For once in my life, I felt like I booked the best hotel at the beach. My husband and I spent 3 days/nights here in November 2014 after 2 weeks of traveling around Myanmar. The hotel occupies the best stretch of the beach and we spent three days doing nothing and relaxing on loungers under palm trees. They also make great cocktails for you while you hang out at the beach! Our room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, the staff were friendly and unobtrusive, and the breakfast on the terrace by the pool was also great. We didn't really eat at the hotel, but went instead to the small seafood restaurants further down the beach. We only had an afternoon snack at the hotel once, which I remember to be pretty good. The hotel also organized a private snorkel trip around the island off the beach for us on short notice. Overall, a very enjoyable stay that I would recommend to anyone! Only negative point: There was virtually no WiFi, neither in the room nor in the common areas.

This hotel and Ngapali Beach has to be on your bucket list. I strongly recommend to splurge on a beach front villa as it has direct beach access and views and also your own private pool. This would have to be the best holiday that we have had, and we have visited many Asian beaches in the past. Ngapali Beach is going through a construction boom with many more hotels and resorts under construction so my recommendation is to visit within in the next couple of years before this hidden secrete becomes common knowledge and is inundated with thousands of visitors. The hotel is very private and exclusive and the Staff and facilities are amazing, so treat yourself to a holiday of a life time at Ngapali Bay Villas and Spa.

We enjoyed very much our stay at the Amata. We easily booked our trip back to Yangon at the reception and absolutely loved the hotel location, between a sensational beach and the best (and by far cheapest) restaurant we did during our trip in Myanmar : the Treasure (the owner Ti Minh Htike is fantastic !). You also have to try the breakfast, huge ! Overall, a wonderful experience !

This hotel is beautiful. It is boutique with every detail thought of. The manager greeted us when we arrived. The staff were very attentive. It is perfectly located on a beautiful part of the beach. The food was excellent, although more catered to people wanting European food. I would have preferred more variety but everything else was PERFECT. I saw the other hotels along the beach and was so glad I booked this one. It is intimate, relaxing and so relaxing. Can’t wait to go back.

This hotel is simply wonderful. It occupies probably the best spot on Ngapali Beach. However, what makes this hotel so good is the team that runs it. The staff are very friendly and could not have done more to help. Nothing seemed too much bother, even the strangest requests - and we stayed with our 8-month old daughter, so we had a few! We loved our cottage. It had a very homely feel. It was completely finished in teak - except for the marble bathrooms which my wife loved. We cannot speak highly enough about SandowayResort and have already started recommending it to our friends.

We stayed here 2 nights in the ocean view villas and can't say enough about this hotel. They picked us up at the airport with a lovely assistant who greeted us with a warm smile and a cold drink! A quick trip to the hotel maybe 15 minutes and into a beautiful lobby. Check in was great and the staff helped us book our boat trip the next day. Our villa was spectacular and everything was perfect! Had dinner at the hotel and the food was very good and breakfast was fantastic. The beach is beautiful and you can get a massage on the beach just down from the hotel for about $8 for an hour! The staff here are some of the best we have had in all of Southeast Asia and frankly most anywhere. I don't normally go on about a hotel but this was outstanding!! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Only the pefect words are deseved by this hotel. Charming, cosy, personal touch, amazing and professional stuff and management. The best you can imagine. The best beach, which is clean and very few people. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food, service and absolutely reasonable prices. The hotel is providing much more than its price and than you can expect from 3 stars. Would like to come back and definitely recommend to everyone visiting Ngapali. Book in advance. Only 15 rooms and the hotel is very demanded.

We are here for our honeymoon vacation. We felt ‘wow’ feeling due to hotel provided early check-in and late check-out, honeymoon cake, a bottle of wine and spa as a honeymoon package during our 3D2N stay. Staffs are friendly, manager of the hotel sent us away on our last day. Our cottage room decorated very lovely by flowers and towel swans. Swimming pool is facing the beach, able to enjoy sunset in the swimming pool. Recommended and definitely will be staying here again if to go Ngapali beach.

We stayed in the beachfront room and it was fantastic! The beach is beautiful and we had a great sunset view from the porch. The staffs were attentive and helpful. The hotel is located next to the airport so it is far from the hotel zone where most restaurants and shops are located. The location was not a problem for us as we wanted to stay away from the crowded area. Besides, there is a great restaurant near the hotel which is better than most restaurants in the hotel zone. There are also some restaurants near the Hilton hotel (~10-15 minutes walk from this hotel). You can rent e-bikes or boats ( for snorkeling, fishing, etc.) from nearby shops. The breakfast buffet was quite limited though. We would have an excellent stay if not for some inconsiderate guests. Our next-door neighbors played super-loud firecrackers and sang karaoke songs ( with microphone & loudspeaker) until 10:30 pm. So we only had one quiet night out of four nights there.

This is the best budget option in Ngapali! The bungalows are cozy and clean. The location is right on the beach. There are loungers, inner tubes and bikes free of charge. The staff is amazing. The restaurant serves delicious food at great prices. There is a plentiful breakfast full of options. Real coffee. The beach is quiet and has seaside massage huts , and a few other small restaurants. I had a wonderful time. I will surely be back.

Great location with nice pool and direct access to beach and tanning beds. Plenty of good restaurant options (e.g. Two Brothers and Best One) within 15min walk away on the street. Booked a half-day boat tour with them too and service was great with multiple fishing and snorkeling stops. Staff is very attentive with multiple room servicing each day and made sure to call up the airlines to confirm our booking details before our flight. FYI provide the resort with your arrival / departure flights info so that they will pick up from / send off to the airport free of charge. Although the pricing itself is rather expensive, but compared to other (mostly more expensive) resorts around the beach, it's good value for money.

The room is a little old, but the room is large and comfortable and room is clean.The breakfast is good and many choices, of course most of it is Myanmar style food, not much western food, but I will say the breakfast is taste good. About the staff, they are not well in English, but they are helpful, friendly and polite, they provide a welcome juice and let us early check-in and no any charge. The hotel is in main road, but not noisy, it is very easy to walk to the downtown and the famous sightseeing. many tourist guide say Moe cherry restaurant is the best one in Mrauk-U,i will say is not true.I highly recommended this hotel restaurant; it is the best restaurant in here. I have lunch and dinner in hotel restaurant for 3days, try over 10 difference Chinese style dishes, and all is tasty. Also the fruit juice is tasty. I highly recommended Shwe Thazin Hotel restaurant. The restaurant has aircon and clean, food is tasty, the price is cheap. They open at 12:00 to14:00 /18:00-21:00.

I am the first review as this hotel has recently opened. What can I say ? There is nothing you can complain about! The hotel is new and very clean, my room and my bathromm were big and very clean. The bed was very good (my best sleep in Myanmar )and the sheets clean. The AC works very well, You' ve got hot showers. The room is cleaned every day . Breakfast is included and here also it was the best I had in Myanmar and it was very big : local food coming from the market ( their sticky rice was amazing), differents breads, very good pastries, egg, juice, tea/coffee. You can have bicycle for free. There is a beach 2 minutes walking but with the bicycle you can reach an amazing beach (25min). But the most amazing was Moe and her staff. All these guys are so smiling, kind, helpful and pleasant. Everything is done to make your stay perfect. This place is just heaven after a big trip in Myanmar when you need to rest and get some good time. Thank you for everything Moe: I spent an amazing moment at Villager Lodge and will never forget it! My best stay in Myanmar!

If you haven't been to Ngapali Beach, Myanmar, you should definitely go. It's beautiful and not as touristy as many beach destinations and the Burmese are extremely thoughtful and gracious. And if you're a value-conscious traveler like we are, you'll love the Rivertop Lodge. The rates were substantially less than those resorts located directly on the beach, but it's only a 1 minute walk to the beach from the Rivertop Lodge and its facilities are immaculate. The staff is very helpful and friendly, there's a beautiful pool, and the on-site restaurant serves delicious authentic Burmese/Rakhine cuisine, as well as some of our American favorites. The concierge was extremely helpful and booked two of the best snorkeling trips we've ever been on. The listing said the Rivertop Lodge was a 3-star but it was actually more like a 4- to 4.5-star resort. We loved it! When we return to Ngapali Beach we will definitely be staying at the Rivertop Lodge.

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of amazing. The pool is wonderful, the rooms are massive, the breakfast is great, and you can access a great (sandy) beach right in front of the hotel (while a short 5 min stroll down the beach takes you to a rocky picturesque beach with small pagoda). The best part of this resort is definitely the staff who go above and beyond to make sure that you are well taken care of. I forgot my book on a pool chair, realizing only after I had checked out. The reception dropped it off at the Hilton next door where my good friend was staying in order to get it back to me. One night I was even invited for a free cocktail tasting at the bar as the bartender was sampling a cocktail (AMAZING) for an event the following evening. Next time I can only hope to come back for longer.

My wife, child and I live in Myanmar and we thought we'd try a different place for a couple days at the beach-- Kyaukpyu. Sure enough, though there is no tourism in Kyaukpyu, they do have some very nice beaches-- though not the one in front of this hotel. That, sadly, is covered with garbage. The hotel should invest some money each month and keep their beach clean-- then they might start attracting more beach holiday-makers looking for an undiscovered beach. However, a short car ride away and there are some lovely, long sandy beaches with no one around, in much better shape. And Kyaukpyu town is quite interesting too. Despite the dirty beach, the hotel is quite comfortable and well equipped (even a small gym!), has a decent restaurant on site (especially for Rakhine dishes-- excellent!) and a very helpful, friendly staff. Quite a decent place for anyplace in Myanmar, much less a remote place like Kyaukpyu. Recommended for anyone seeking some peace and quiet in offbeat surroundings.

Fantastic staff in a beautifully clean hotel which was a pleasant surprise in Sittwe. Good breakfast, big room, everything you need But best of all - the very helpful staff willing to go beyond expectations. I had foolishly left my passport in a taxi in Nangshwe. It was flown to sittwe and the manager of Hotel Memory cycled out to the airport to collect it so that it was waiting for me on return from Mrauk U. Amazing! I didn't ask - it was just done.

My husband and I had a lovely time on our 10 year anniversary. We had been travelling in Rahkine state previously. Staying at Amara was our time to relax and recover from some intense travelling. We booked an ocean front villa. The villas are up off the beach on hard land, but the beach is so close we just ran from our room into the waves. This resort seems to be the only resort on this particular beach and we arrived on the season opening (they close during the summer). We went from the beach to the restaurant to the pool to the spa to our room to the beach. Then we woke up the next day and did it all again. If you want a relaxing getaway - Amara Ocean Resort is a great choice.

I booked a bed at Westay for initially 2 nights, but I kept extending it because I met so many nice people and the staff is pretty amazing too. Myat is the best, he is more like a friend than a hostel manager. We booked a snorkeling trip through the hostel, which I wouldn't recommend as there is not that much to see. Get some bikes and discover the area nearby! Definitely would go back.

The staff here were always ready to answer questions and find out information. William spoke excellent English and was always quick to answer questions, but it was also always worth consulting the rather more reserved, quiet and more slowly spoken female receptionist - she was good about fact checking up to date details and clearly knowledgeable about local culture. It was also easy to arrange reasonably priced local transport (Tuk Tuk) with William. They made an effort to give you different local snacks everyday at breakfast, which was a nice touch. They will also prepare a breakfast box if leaving early (although you may want to mention that you prefer NOT to have jam in your egg sandwich!!) The rooms at the front can be noisy as people tend to arrive/leave early in Mrauk-U - so request to move if they have another room - especially if you're in the room that also overlooks the neighboring school. If you're arriving late at night and have not booked your room a couple of days in advance, you may want to check the booking has arrived. We booked ours only about 12 hours in advance and unfortunately they were full on arrival as Internet is not always reliable and so they had not got our booking yet. They sorted out a room in another hotel, even though the closest hotels were full, but it's not what you need after a long bus ride! We planned to stay 4 nights and ended up staying 7. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay again.

We've been in Mrauk U for three days, during a strange period for the Rakhine State, with no internet on the phone, due to restrictions caused by some conflicts in the area. Anyway, the staff of the Nawarat was super helpful, gentle and friendly. They provided all the infos that we needed at the time, booking a super nice guide (Lin Lin, call him if you speak English) for visiting the large amount of temples in the area and a boat for the trip to the Chin villages in the river. They also prepare a nice breakfast and lovely fried noodles! Big rooms, and even bigger beds (more than a queen size, I suppose!). Incredible experience, this tiny city deserves better attentions. Not that easy to get there: the best way is flying to Sittwe and then going by taxi or boat. They don't have WiFi in there. Very good price for the quality of the vacation.

-very nice hotel -nicest part of the beach -the residence is a part of Sandoway beach resort which is nearby (5 minutes walk) -the residence is located directly at beachfront -breakfast is in the Sandoway beach resort; you can order breakfast also to the residence (room service reservation one day/evening before) -ATM next to the hotel (the only one in Ngapali) -a lot of restaurants and some small shops on the street -large rooms, turn down service, large bed and bathroom (separate toilet and shower) and balcony/ terrace -no TV in room; the resort has a own cinema -you geht your own sunlounger and umbrella, beach towels in rooms available -front office staff will organize also flights and Shuttle oder taxi to the airport -we only stayed in this Hotel but wie think it is the best one with the nicest beach part -there are no cheap hotels available in this Arena so it is the best value for money

We had a nice stay at Prince. We've been living and traveling in Myanmar for several years, so we have a good idea of what you can expect at hotels in the country. Mrauk-U is pretty far off the beaten path, so our expectations is a little lower level of refinement relative to price than what you'd get in Bangkok, for example. Overall our expectations were met. We spent a little extra on the suite, but really all that meant was more unused space, so wouldn't necessarily recommend this unless you need it. The highlight was the great community atmosphere during dinner, and dinner itself, which was a showcase of Myanmar staples and also local Rakhine specialties. We would definitely go back to stay here again.
