Great location, kind and generous staff, and the view!”

We spent three nights at the Riad Perle D'eau in Essaouria last week and had a wonderful time. The Riad is in a terrific location in the old city (medina) it is actually built over the wall of the medieval fortress wall. The historic buildings have been beautifully restored by the French/Swiss owners who are on site and actively involved in running the hotel. It is pristinely clean and close by to all the sites of the old city - no more than 10 minutes walk anywhere (and I don't walk particularly quickly). We splashed out and got the Carat Suite - it is on the second floor and the view is worth trip to Essaouria on its own. The windows look directly out on the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean - it's as if you are looking out a porthole on a ship, only it's a bay window! Unbelievable and well worth the extra cost. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace with sweeping panoramic views of the ocean and ramparts of the fortress walls. Highly recommended.
