Great new business hotel with all the trimmings ”
This was my second stay at the Royal Hinthar. My business partners and I traveled to Mawlamyine from Myawaddy departing around 6pm and by sheer coincidence, encountered the same Karen full moon festival on the way as last year that resulted in a travel time of 10 hours after getting stuck in a massive traffic jam for 4.5 hours in the middle of the night. Luckily this time, it took us just over 3 hours as is usual. Check-in was swift and my room was comfortable, I really liked the comfortable bed and armchair with footrest. Breakfast was pretty good too, as was the pool and gym, which I enjoyed in the morning. A pity our stay was so short - I wish I could have enjoyed this hotel for longer.

A brand new hotel with great staff and with the best outdoor pool in town!”
The Royal Hinthar may not be located right at the strand road, but the hotel itself makes this up anytime. The Royal Hinthar is brand new - the initial opening was in July 2016 and the grand opening is planned this November - and you can actually feel this fresh air coming from the overly motivated staff. The room was spacious and very clean. The facilities are also really good, especially since everything is new, working and held up to date - something not possible to say about other hotels here. You can either have a view on the near mountains, where you can see a golden Pagoda. Or you will have a room with a pool view. And this, in my opinion, was the hilight of our stay. A pool was something, which was missing throughout our trip in Myanmar. The hot weather just lusts for a cooling swim and this pool is the destination. Some music is playing; the pool bar is giving out drinks; and the fitness room is just right next to it. A really great experience. And if you worry about the location: Just ask the staff (some speak good English) for a motorcycle taxi and they will organize it in no time for you, so you can go out wherever you like.

Beautiful new business hotel, probably the best in Mawlamyine”
Our stay at this hotel was rather short, due to the worst traffic jam ever encountered in Myanmar, a 4.5 hour standstill from 9pm to 1.30am near Kyondo, Kayin State along the main Myawady to Hpa-an highway due to a major Kayin full moon festival. So after arriving at the hotel at 4.10am after a 10 hour drive from Myawady (normally a 3.5-4.5 hour journey depending on road conditions), we were rightfully exhausted. Fortunately staff were on duty and very professional, check-in was quick and we were whisked to our rooms (only two of us booked online, the other members of our party walked-in). Breakfast was quite good, lots of choices at the buffet and the pool looked fantastic, unfortunately we didn't have time to use it as we had to be on our way for our business meetings etc. and thus checked out at 10am. Next time I'm in Mawlamyine, I'll stay here again. Only slight disadvantage is it's location - without a car, it's a bit far from town (around 10-15min drive) though I assume there is some public transport nearby given the hotel is located along the main Mawlamyine highway and near the railway station. Note that this hotel's rates are much cheaper on Agoda than walk-in rates.

Ideal for short stay.. Pool is a great ”
Good hotel.. 10 - 15 min walk from mawlamyine train station easy walk over the hill to the strand in about 30 minutes, nice breakfast, friendly staff... Idea base for exploring mawlamyine, did have a slight problem, on arrival I thought I could smell cigarette smoke, was told its non smoking even though there was an ashtray in the room? The next morning could still smell smoke, moved bedside cabinet to charge my phone.. And 2 half smoked cigarettes down the back of cabinets, manger was very apologetic, move my room straight away, new room was lovely, would definitely stay there again, if coming from hpa an the bus goes right outside the hotel or 10 min walk from train station

Take a luxury break!”
With one day left on our visor we gave ourselves a little pampering. And you couldn't find a better place in Mawlamyine to do it. It's located a little bit out of the way, but is very self contained with a great restaurant. The staff are exceptionally friendly and were particularly helpful when organising transport to the border the next day. Highly recommended.

lovely place in Mawlamyine”
The hotel is really a good place to stay while in Mawlamyine. rooms are nice, bed very comfy; staff is excellent and trying to help out as much as possible. Lovely also to be able to take a swim after a full days work. As the pool is used a lot by its customers,, please ensure that it remains fresh and clean!!

Comfortable hotel, good value”
We stayed 3 nights after arriving by train from Yangon. The hotel is close to the station. The room was classy, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff we're helpful in organizing a half day tour of the town sights and a day trip to the WW2 sites at Thanbyuzayat. The pool was appreciated and the hotel offers massage, so we also enjoyed some down time. The rooftop bar provides nice views and becomes a quirky neon spectacle at night. Breakfast was included and provided plenty of choice. We ate most meals at the hotel as food and drink prices were reasonable and the food was tasty. Service speed and timing was a bit hit and miss, often one part of the meal wouldn't arrive until late. The morning we left there was a hiccup with our checkout. Our prepaid hotel voucher wasn't recognized on their system as prepaid. At early checkout it was a nervous wait for the duty manager to wake and arrive to sort things as we were anxious to catch our onward train to Ye.

Great business hotel”
I stayed in room 111, which is located just up the stairs from the housekeeping room. First morning was a bit noisy with commotion starting at 6am, staff talking loudly in the hallway. This subsided by 6.30am. This was my third stay at this hotel and I was a little taken aback by the differences in my room compared to the ones I previously stayed in such as room 218. Although the bathroom is very large, why is there no shower cubicle when every other room I've stayed in has one? Why not a single hook or shower rack to hang up your towel? A hotel of this standard should really ensure that every single room is built to a minimum standard and as such I was disappointed. On the positive side, my bed was very comfortable, I enjoyed the armchair and desk and wifi worked reasonably well on my computer (though not my phone). Breakfast was good, but some items were cold. No time to use the pool or gym this time, but based on last time the hotel has done a good job in this respect.

New hotel, great pool”
Great new hotel, clean large rooms, well above Myanmar hotels this price range. Ok breakfast on top floor. Reception staff's English sufficient, the rest is trying. Great pool, but drinks take a while, didn't have all on the list (no gin). Everyone's very helpful but not allways up to the task. Everything's a little more expensive than downtown, from taxi to bike rental. Great Thai restaurant in walking distance (go south about 10 min., the second one)

Good business hotel”
Booked initially for 2 nights but ended up staying 3. Have stayed here a couple of times before. Our rooms were missing the comfortable ottoman, I guess when the hotel first opened they put you in those rooms but now those rooms are classified as deluxe. Even so, the standard rooms have an armchair, just that it isn't as comfortable as in the deluxe rooms with carpet. Our room had a huge shower room, but our colleagues room opposite ours only half the size? Strange differences in design. Breakfast was the same as usual, a small buffet, nothing special, cold chewy nan bread as usual, very sweet "orange" juice and 3-in-1 coffee/tea. Terrible weather, almost continuous rain for our entire stay, which perhaps explains the lack of tourists during our stay (the hotel was almost completely empty).

Friendly staff and excellent value for money”
Nearly brand new the hotel is off the downtown area but still relatively close and near the train station. Extremely helpful staff went out of their way to make sure we were able to purchase the extensive selection of traditional national dress available in their lobby shop.

Enjoyable stay ”
My single room was very comfortable with everything I needed. There was no safe in the room but the staff brought one to my room on request. The pool was lovely but there wasn’t much shade. This hotel is a bit out of town but it was easy to flag a motorcycle taxi on the toad outside & there was food court next door. I would stay here again.

My client has been to this hotel before. This time, too, he liked it very much. Special thanks to the General Manager who took great care of this guest.

Wonderful”
Lovely, well appointed hotel. Only downsides were the location, a little distant from the river, and the food, which we found heavily laced with MSG. If eating there, you may want to ask for no Msg

Maybe the best 4* Hotel in Mawlamyine”
I had booked for one of my VIP people. The supervisor had discussed everything with me before the arrival of the guests. She even offered to change the suite in case my client did not like it. My client was completely satisfied. The only culprit was the music in the dining room, which was put on relatively loud after half the dinner. Special thanks to the front office supervisor Khin Soe Htike.
