Your only beach choice in Cambodia?”
sokha beach resort is known within locals as the best sihanoukville beach resort. but when the choice of good hotels is limited, some cons may appear. first, too many people are choosing this hotel for the holiday, including locals, and sometimes the local people with big families can be noisy and disturbing. they pay twice less than foreigners in this hotel. also when you have no real competition, you don't care about quality too much. so while the hotel is definitely good and worth its money, it could be better. below is what we liked there: 1) large , clean and green territory with a garden 2) great pool 3) large and comfortable room - not shabby 4) cheap extra beds for more persons 5) very nice beach with a white crispy sand 4) nice weather in november - not too hot and the sun is mild 6) it's easy and cheap to get a tuk-tuk anytime you want to go from the hotel to the town for eating and shopping (2 usd 2-way) 7) free regular shuttle mini- bus from the hotel 8) the service is overall with a smile 9) good prices in local restaraunts (outside). i recommend to try sorin restaraunt, it's located in front of grand campuchia restaraunt. it's nothing special from the first sight, but a great value for money, clean and good quality. we were spending 30 usd for 3 persons to eat as much as we could :) 10) very cheap and good local beer, if you are interested. as low as 40 cents for 1 can ( shop price). cheap draft local beer in restaraunts. brewed in this town. overall relaxing stay. now what could be better: the water was not perfectly transparent in november. green. the breakfast could be better for a five-star hotel. 3-star with 3-star service. expensive buffet, quality is not very good. not enough beach chairs for everyone. some rooms have broken a/cs, wifi is poor in many rooms. garbage in a water and outside. not really private beach, they sell chairs for $10.. local guests may show a little respect to foreigners.

Beautiful private beach, beautiful pool”
I was very disappointed in the town of Sihanoukville, but loved this hotel! The town is all under construction. Everything has been torn up and everything is dusty and dirty as they slowly modernize it and put it back together (80% unpaved roads/dirt roads when I was there!). The condition of the town made me want to just stay at Sokha Beach Resort where everything was well kept, clean, and beautiful. Super relaxing beach and pool area. The breakfast was great! Omelettes to die for. Loved the pastry selection. I only ate outside the resort one time and the food wasnt as good as Sokha, so I didn’t go out into the dustbowl again. I tried the Brazilian bbq buffet restaurant at the resort, but found it just so so. For 30usd I was hoping for fresher meat. It was okay, though. Staff at this resort are all super friendly and helpful. Zero problems with staff, couldn’t ask for anything better. Would stay at this resort again, but wouldn’t return to Sihanoukville until construction finished.

Best hotel in Sihanoukville”
we were very pleased with the sokha beach resort from start to finish. the check-in was fast and efficient with a welcome drink. our room was clean and fairly large with a balcony. the resort has a huge private beach all for itself which is very quite and well kept. the pool is large and includes a nice pool bar. on the far end of the beach is a beautiful restaurant and bar that we visited every evening/afternoon. they serve some great drinks and we highly recommend the bloody marys. it was my birthday during the stay and hotel did a great effort and i'd like to thank them so much for that. they had placed a beautiful bouquet of roses in the room and also a large birthday cake. overally a great hotel and if you're going to sihanoukville, stay here.

Most enjoyable and relaxing stay”
We booked the Executive Suite for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised that the hotel upgraded our room to the Mohori Presidential Suite which could possibly be the best room in the hotel with its own private pool and very close to beach. Everything inside this suite was of a true 5 star standard. We requested mosquito spray in our room a few times and a repair of the broken front door, these were all attended to promptly. We were happy with the room cleaning service. Sokha beach is the best beach in Sihanoukville. The hotel was fully booked when we were there so finding a spare lounger under palapas on the beach was a challenge. Thanks to the gentleman who managed the beach area for arranging two sunbeds under the shade for us. The buffet breakfast at Champa was quite good and had a lot of variety. We had lunch at the Lemongrass restaurant twice and were impressed with the quality of the food there. All in all we could not find one thing to fault this hotel and we had the most enjoyable and relaxing time there.

Best hotel in Sihanouk Ville”
the sokha beach resort is the best hotel in sihanouk ville. its beach is large, clean and quiet that i can have sunbath and swimming leisurely. the swimming pool is good also. it has poolside bar which we can climb to the chairs directly from water to order a drink. room is clean and nicely decorated. the restaurants are of course expensive in standard of cambodia, its cuisine are not much more excellent than others restaurants in sihanouk ville. one of its restaurant, lemongrass, is located at the seaside. customers can watch the sea and sunset (although it is not on the sea) while having meal. there are even two beds that customers can lay to them to have drink or meal. overall the sokha beach resort is expensive but it worths.

Great Resort”
My wife and I went to Cambodia for 3 weeks and decided to check out the beaches, and we are glad we did. When we arrived at Sihanoukville we stayed at a different hotel for 3 days before going to Sokha. I say all this because we were able to check out the area before going to Sokha. You can catch a bus from the resort into town, or pay $3 for a tuk tuk, of which there are plenty just outside the entrance. Now, as far as everything else, our room was great and we did not have any real problems. Also, if you do not want to take the scenic walk to where you are going, just call for a ride 24/7/ There are pools, which are very nice, though if salt water pools are a problem, do not stay at the dolphin pool area. That said, our room was there and I could not really tell that it was salt water. Staff was great, helpful and very friendly. I highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful hotel!”
I stayed at Sokha Resort for 2 nights. It is probably the best place I've ever stayed. My room was so beautiful; huge comfortable bed, big windows but curtains that shut out the light well if you want, bathroom was awesome- shower so hot and so big. The staff were all super nice. Breakfast was delicious. Had room service a few times and that was pretty good too. Went swimming at the beach and the pool- both were incredible. Sokha beach is easily the nicest of the Sihanoukville beaches- and it's so nice not to have people hassling you to buy bracelets or have a massage!

A real 5-star resort”
We had a very pleasant stay at Sokha Beach Resort. It is a large resort with a pristine private beach which we had a magnificent view of from our room. Despite the numerous rooms on the premises we never felt that it was crowded. A minor complaint was excellently handled by Kris from the management, who went out of his way to make us very happy guests. Apart from the extremely courteous management, the staff are quite attentive. For breakfast, a broad variety of Asian and Western fare is offered - we particularly enjoyed the danish and muffins which were freshly baked. We would definitely return to Sokha Beach Resort.

Everything you'd want ”
We were extremely happy with almost every aspect of our stay at Sokha Beach. The rooms were huge, the bathrooms were huge, and perhaps the hugest of all was the bed. It could have slept 4! For some reason there were very few people at the resort during our stay. We were staying at the Lakeside area of the resort and literally had an entire pool to ourselves. No, I'm serious we were alone. This was almost erie as there were staff people at various stations all throughout the resort with very little to do. Still, it's hard to complain about too much help. Food was good. Prices are more expensive than town, but still very affordable. People are friendly and helpful. Beach is private, and beautiful. I guess our biggest disappointment was the condition of the the weight room. For the number of people that wanted to use the area it needs expansion and updating. The bottom line is that if you want to see Cambodia and then retreat back to a walled fortress this is the way to go. If you want to immerse yourself in Cambodia there are better ways to do it. Great location, huge rooms, perfect service.”
After having visited the temples of Angkor Wat and surrounding the Sokha Beach Resort was the perfect place to relax. The private beach was perfect for swimming. The resort's Lemongrass restaurant with the outside area "The Decks" is a great place for having a coctail - e.g. the "Sihanoukville Beauty" - while watching the sunset and for a superb dinner afterwards.

Expecting alot and still very impressed!”
We had heard so much stuff about Sokha being this or that, depending on who you talk to, that we decided to see it for ourselves. I am married with a 2 year old baby girl and wanted a place where we could get away from it all and spend time together swimming or building sand castles. Sokha delivered nicely on every account, the beach was exquisite and shaded or not as you wish, with a bamboo bar hut right on the sand serving ice cold draft beers and nice wine. It's funny but the hotel was such a nice place to hang out that we didnt go anywhere. We stayed together without the hustle and bustle of doing doing doing, and enjoed every minute of doing nothing but being with each other. The food was excellent all the way around. The pair of on premisis beach front estaurants, The Deck and Lemon Grass were superb! Even the dinner buffet, I am one who does not regularily like them, was excellent and exciting. One night we called in for room service, ordered a hamburger, the food came in 15 minutes and was excellent. All I have to say is, thank you Sokha for a wonderful stay.

The best beach in Sihanoukville, but...”
This is our third, and I am afraid, our last stay at Sokha in Sihanoukville. The reason we will be reluctant to return is that the owners have taken a different approach than what we want from a beach resort. Having newly opened a huge (and ugly) Casino building as well as a large conference center. Risk the unique beach resort feeling and calm is wiped away. We were here in Nov-15 when it was non-peak season, so for us it was fine. Also, they have built a completely new hotel building about 5 min walk from the original building. This is advertised as "Lakeside by Sokha" but it was not really operational. Next to the new hotel complex, they have built some 60+ water chalet/bungalows ("Moha Mohori by Sokha") located on stilts in a "lake" but the water is all brown looking more like a swamp and it looked and sounded like a construction site. Maintenance of the original hotel seem not to have been able to keep up with its 5 stars. The beachfront walkway and other pathways have not really been taken care of, though, they are still functional. However, Champa restaurant, lobby and original pool area are well maintained along with meticulous daily cleaning of the beach. The 10+ year old original rooms are spacious but have seen their best days, more like 3-4 stars. The beachfront The Deck/Lemongrass restaurants are very nicely renovated and serves some seriously good food. Also, the new Spa is great. Very good treatments and therapists. They have happy hour rates 9 am - 3 pm. Hats off to all the friendly staff who are doing a great job under what must be not so easy circumstances. Bottom line - provided that the Casino crowd don't take over completely - I think a room in the old building is the best option (i.e. not the Lakeside and not Moha Mohori). Although a bit worn room, it is funtional and convenient due to breakfast, pool, beach access. You get a fantastic private beach, a nice pool area, good restaurants and very friendly service.

Amazing beach and pool, great service and rooms.”
myself and my wife had a great stay at sokha. it was very pricey by cambodian standards but worth it in our opinion for a great white sand private beach, nice pool, wonderful food and lots of treatments and pampering available. the room was large, very comfortable, had a great view too. the service couldn't be faulted either. sihanoukville itself is not much to write home about so this is really only for those not wanting to stray from the resort but we never found a reason to want to!

Always the best!”
We have our annual vacation to Kompong Som, and we always stay with Sokha Beach Resort. Breakfast is always excellent, with many varieties to choose from Western style to Khmer food. The swimming pools are nice, as they have two pools with adults and young children divided. WiFi this time is excellent, unlike previous years we stayed. Beach is nice too. We can always count on their services and excellent accommodations. We will stay with Sokha again when we visit Siem Reap next week. Definitely recommend it!!

Excellent Resort: Great Location and Ammenities”
i have worked in 39 countries and have only a few "hiding" places where i can go and relax. sokha beach is the place where i will always go to "hide away" from work for a few days whenever i am in south east asia. i was a solo traveller; however, my daughter was married at a resort in mauritious several years ago and has wanted to go back for a family vacation (with grandkids and in-laws). after seeing the pictures i took of sokha beach she now is hoping to come to beautiful cambodia. i may lose my hiding place for several weeks but what can one do: she is family

BIG Resort with Friendly Service”
The rooms are big, the resort is big, the private beach is big and the pool bar tab was big...but worth it. Was there for 3 nights during the low season and it rained a couple of days, but it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for this hotel. Yes, there are many much cheaper options in Sihanoukville and, yes, one might find it exclusionary to lie on a recliner on a private beach. But, if you like splurging a bit, then this is the place for you. Breakfast buffets were a good deal, but the rest of the meals are pricey. The tapas restaurant The Deck is good, but not great, in terms of tasty food, but the ambiance overlooking the ocean is worth the price.

Beach, clean and convenient”
Sokha Resort is always my best preferred option in Sihanoukville whether it is for leisure or business travel. It has it's own clean private beach, nice pool and convenient location. Child playground is available for travelers with children, which is a big plus. Rooms are spacious and clean. The only drawback is price, which usually is high.

really enjoyed staying at sokha beach resort, the beach is the best in sihanoukville - clean, uncrowded with great views of the sunset. staff service was excellent throughout stay, and it is well priced for 5*.

Fantastic hotel, service and location”
this hotel has it all. each member of our family was very pleased with our stay. the kids enjoyed swimming in the large pool and in the sea right in front of the hotel. the hotel actually has its own beach and they sweep it throughout the day to keep it clean from any litter that might be brought to shore by the waves. there is also a children's playground and plenty of room for the kids to run around within the hotel area. there are lots of comfortable sunbeds and a nice pool bar where we had ice cream in the afternoon. we went to the lemongrass restaurant every night, it's part of the sokha resort, but a short walk from the main hotel building. the food is delicious, staff is friendly and the breeze is cool at the location by the sea. we also enjoyed wonderful massage and a gym with a basic set of equipment. the room was nicely decorated and had everything we needed, including a big, round bed that fit the whole family. the room also had a small balcony where you could enjoy the beautiful sunsets. a well maintained, well managed hotel with helpful, english-speaking staff, where we felt welcome.
