Worth every penny... ”

From the reviews and word mouth, Sun Moon Lake Hotel is really one of the best hotel in SML. The view from their dining area, superb! simply majestic, you'll see the reflection of the sun from the lake right outside their bike lanes. Yes, this hotel is quite expensive, but it's worth every penny. The drinks in the refrigerator is all free, drink your sodas eat their fruits and nuts- no charge at all. Breakfast- we all loved their breakfast! You can use their bike for free and stroll down their bike lane around the lake. You can take a lot of pictures- instagram worthy- no need for filters... just take the shot and upload it- that's how nice the view is in this hotel. Thank you MyProguide for suggesting this hotel. Awesome Lake View Room”

It is highly recommended to book a lake view room during your stay in Sun Moon Lake. It is especially calm & relaxing during the night. I am not sure about other hotel, but all rooms at this hotel will have their balcony light off automatically at 10pm, should be for visitor to better enjoy the calmness of the lake? Not sure about that though. Another plus point is that the hotel provide several in-house games/activities such as basketball machine, billiard, Ice-hockey table, X-box & Wii player. Personally, I love the breakfast served! Wide variety with a mixed of Chinese & Western style. However, the location is not the best among hotel in Sun Moon Lake. We have to take a five min shuttle bus to the "central" of Sun moon lake where all the local eateries and public transport are located at. Alternatively, you can walk which take round 15-20 min.

Our best choice at Sun Moon Lake”

We decided to stay at Sun Moon Lake Hotel on our third night and like it very much. The room is big and comfortable; there is Japanese style tatami at living room too. Our hotel room got real breath-taking view of the lake, even from the bathroom. And both my kids like the bathroom very much, with the super big bath tub. The stay was so relaxing. We rented the bicycle to stroll around the lake without any charges, enjoyed the Wii and Xbox games at night. We also able to enjoy a cup of hot tea at the balcony while our kids watching the television inside the room. Previous 2 nights we stayed at a minsu which we really regretted as it was not so enjoyable for kids. Although the price for the room at Sun Moon Lake Hotel was not cheap; but we rather pay more for a better and enjoyable holiday experience.

Great hotel with excellent view & service”

Spacious room and comfortable beds. Clean and high-tech with remote control over lighting and equipment (e.g. TV). Separate toilet, shower area and pool. The room looks exactly the same as the pictures in the website. Breakfast spread was great and tasty. Shuttle bus service is free and run hourly to/ from Shui-she visitor centre. This is the best hotels I have stayed so far in Taiwan. Although the price is rather steep, it is value for money for similar class of hotel with great view and convenience around Sun Moon Lake. Would definitely stay here again if I visit Sun Moon Lake.

Fantastic room with lovely service”

The room was a great surprise, easily the nicest during my recent taiwan trip with my mum. I love bath tubs and I'm surprised at how good the bathroom sound system was, which is necessary cos' of all the water sounds. Even my mum is all praises for the tub. I also liked the bed, soft, plush and nice. The tatami area is cool though we didn't really use it much. The wifi router on loan for 500twd provided fantastic connection which my mum is extremely pleased about cos' she then could continue to watch her korean dramas. As for the service, everyone was all smiles and courteous. Checking in and out was a breeze, the service staff all looked happy and energetic. We were given a nice briefing on breakfast location, facilities and the ongoing spa promotion (which we gave it a try and loved the interesting experience and different massage technique.) Whilst I can't say the spa is very pretty but the crockery used were interesting and environment clean and pleasant with friendly therapists. However, I guess I can't really fault the hotel for it but sun moon lake was a huge disappointment. Paying more money for a lakeview didn't seem like a smart move. Our corner view was bad, the water was murky and slightly smelly. Upside was that the shuttle service was actually more personalised then the fixed timing, they told me I just had to give them a ring and they'll pick us back to the hotel from town. I liked the little town. Quaint with nice shops. Breakfast spread was good too. Food felt like it was of good quality and well prepared.

Romantic hotel by the lake”

Sun Moon Lake Hotel is about 1.5km away from Shuishe Visitor Centre & it provides free shuttle, very convenient. You may also choose to walk or cycle by the lake with proper footpath, enjoy the breeze & the beautiful Lake. It's quiet, peaceful and romantic. The hotel provides free bike rental, so that makes it very easy to move around. The staff is helpful, friendly, efficient & always smiling. Delicious breakfast, free wifi, spacious room with modern design and a Japanese living area. That is the way to enjoy and relax sitting by the balcony, having a beer & some snacks, losing the track of time as one is immersed in the atmosphere.

Getaway”

I did not have enough time to stay with this hotel as I only checked in at 8pm and checked out next day at 6am as I need to rush back to taipei. Staffs are definitely friendly as they helped me arrange for transport to go to Shui She Visitor Center where I had to go and take bus back to taichung hsr to taipei hsr. Room is definitely very big and comfortable. There is nothing much to do in sun moon lake though, probably if you would want to go for a relax trip, I feel sun moon lake hotel will be a nice place to stay.

an interesting stay”

Sun moon lake was pretty interesting. Hotel was great, not so centrally located though, about 20 so mins walk (del lago is where the cbd pinpoint is). Staffe were friendly and helpful, hotel also offer free shuttle to the central bus station (it's called she yen or something) every hour. BUT BE AWARE, no public transport available after 6pm (not even taxi) i was stranded at itahao around 7pm with my parents, called hotel and they advised us to take taxi (taxi after 6pm is the dodgy ones, not registered taxi but locals who owns car), idahao is just 10mins drive from hotel but i had to pay 600 ntd. Bikes are available for rent at the hotel, there's a bike trail at the front of back hotel, the bike trail is next to the lake, very beautiful sight indeed

Fantastic Hotel”

The double bed is really big. It is equivalent to 2 double beds so can sleep 4 paxs. Spacious room with Japanese style dining area, bathroom with hotspring tub, whole room equipped with centralized remote control of lights and music at the bed headboard which I think is unnecessary. Clean, and very friendly staffs. My son is unwell and I requested plain porridge from the kitchen, they allowed and accommodate to my request. Our room overlooking the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, sitting at the balcony and enjoying tea with the view is pleasure. The JiuZhu Cultural Village however, is located opposite the Hotel across the lake. You have to ride a boat to get there. Beware of the weather and time. Winter time jetty close earlier and last ride is 4pm.

Exceeded my expectations”

Had the Japanese lake side room in a low room. Was clean, large onsen style bath, nice balcony to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Had the best breakfast at this hotel based compared to the 3 other hotels we stayed in Taiwan. Free bikes for use by Guests, which is a must when visiting Sun Moon Lake. Suppose to be only for 1 hour but it wasn’t tracked. The room was a little cold that apparently could not be controlled in the room but only centrally. Special thank you to William who was very helpful in trying to sort through a mistake made by another staff member. He was very friendly, courteous and helpful.

Best experience ever”

Coming all the way from US, lake view is what my family looks for. With the experience of not having lake view prior night, it's a good surprise to find the great lake view coming to Sun Moon Lake Hotel. Staff are all polite and professional. We woke up at 5:00am with charming lake view and sound of silence from Mother nature. Our room faces east so we watched the sun rise right on our own balcony. Amazing, yes, this is a hotel full of pleasant amazes. Later, we realized they provide free bicycles and it's right on the bicycle trail. After a enjoyable ride, we were surprised again by their excellent breakfast. A lot of variety and every items are very tasty. However, its location could be a bit remote, fortunately, hotel provides shuttle service to the nearest town. Stayed two five star hotels during our trip this time, spending almost the same amount of money, this one is definitely better one. Will come again.

Great relaxing getaway in a countryside paradise”

The hotel's check in procedure was fast & friendly. Despite language difficulties, we could tell the staff were really trying their hardest for us. Breakfast was superb, as was the view of the lake - both from our lake-view room, and from outside the breakfast restaurant. The city is a 15 minute bike ride away along a boardwalk, great morning activity. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic, relaxing getaway, Sun Moon Lake hotel fits the bill perfectly!

Scenic, serene, & a restful recharge destination”

Sun Moon Lake Hotel offers a modern, semi-luxurious stay next to a picturesque mirror-like lake, giving you a great break from city life. The lake view room was fantastic, and the size, style, & furnishing of the Japanese (deluxe) style rooms were superb! The japanese spa bathtub provided for a nice after-dinner soak (non-hotspring waters), whilst enjoying the night lights of the nearby Shuishe town. Location is a 15-20 minute walk to Shuishe town & the visitor centre, but they have a hotel shuttle (check the times first). Would return to relax when needed.

Wonderful Hotel!”

The room was very spacious with a lovely sitting area and the bed was GIGANTIC-essentially two double beds combined into one. Our room looked out onto the Sun Moon Lake, it was very romantic. The soaking tub in the room was incredible as was the soaking shower. There was even a remote in the wall for all the lights in the room, the tv, and overhead classical music! There were MANY breakfast options. The hotel overall was very beautiful and had lots of amenities- like free bike rental for guests! I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

Amazing Bathtub”

Though room is pricey, it is worth the money spent with big nice rooms and excellent food quality at breakfast. The bathroom is amazing with a large build in bathtub large enough for 2 persons to soak in. The hotel is located beside Sun Moon Lake and comes with free bicycle rental where you can cycle around to enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air. I am recommending this hotel to family on vacations and couples looking for a romantic holiday in Taiwan.

Great hotel”

Just a short 10 mins walk with cabin size luggage from Shuishe visitor center to this hotel. Either thru the main rood or via the biking path nearby the sun moon lake. Don't waste time waiting for the hotel shuttle bus to fetch you from the visitor center to the hotel as it required to make appointment ahead. Overall, it is a nice and comfy hotel. Get the lake view room.

very nice hotel”

very comfortable stay in hotel. very nice hot tub in the bathroom. The young manager at the restaurant was so nice and empathetic. We had no dinner that night and just wanted to buy some noodles for the children. However, the restaurant only offers buffet. Manager was so service-oriented, he personally cooked some simple noodles and place in cups for me to take away for my children, and did not even charge us. For that kind of personal service, we will definitely stay in this hotel again if we visit sun moon lake again next time.

Modern & luxurious new hotel”

My stay at Sun Moon Lake Hotel was a very pleasant and relaxing one. Location is great for relaxing, but less so for exploration of the town which is a 20 minute walk away. The hotel provides a free shuttle every hour or so though. We had a nice scenic bike ride around the boardwalk in front of the hotel all the way into town. Breakfast was very good, large spread & tasted great too!

Good place to stay in Sun Moon Lake”

My stay was very relaxing! We had no problems checking in using our Agoda booking. Great rooms; spacious, luxuriously outfitted, and with a great view of the lake. Highly recommend getting a lake-view room. The higher price is well worth it for a nice spacious private balcony to enjoy a drink while lapping up the view from the comfort of your room. The higher your room, the better the view. Breakfast is a good selection of international (western) & local cuisines, all of which taste great. The small town is a short walk away, but you can also borrow a bicycle, or take the hotel's free shuttle bus to get there. It felt like our group were the only ones in the hotel, which was a great thing. Must have been the off season. I would most definitely return to Sun Moon Lake Hotel again!

Good hotel in the Sun Moon Lake area”

The hotel is located in the quieter side of sun moon lake away from the pier which is a plus point in my opinion. However, the pier and other attractions are still within walking distance or you could choose to cycle using the bike trail around the lake. The hotel also provided shuttle service which makes it convenient for guests who are returning to the hotel at a later time in the night. Hotel staff are professional and friendly and the room is clean. Breakfast is also good with variety to fuel you up for the day ahead. Would definitely stay here again on my next trip to sun moon lake.
