“Decent stay for the price ”

Decent place at a great price for Edinburgh. New washroom, tv, coffee/tea in room with kettle. Furnishings are dated. View of Arthur’s seat and set on a nice park. Short walk to tram stop (10 mins) which takes you right into centre.

    “A good budget option”

Stayed here with friend during Edinburgh fringe festival. We go every year and like to stay in the Leith area as it means we can escape from all the festival stuff at the end of a day of going to shows and being in the midst of it all the action as it can get overwhelming. Leith is also a great area for shops, bars and restaurants with fab transport links into the city. The hotel is in a great position, right on Leith Links and pretty easy to get to by bus from the centre. We had a front room on the second floor with a lovely view over the park and it was fairly quiet as there was no heavy traffic close by. It's just a 5-10 minute walk to the foot of Leith Walk for all amenities and transport into the centre. Be aware that, even though Agoda allows you to request a twin room, if you've booked a double it will be a double bed not twin beds. Apparently, Agoda thinks a twin room just means that two people can sleep in the bed... Hmm... If you want separate beds, you will need to book a triple or a family room. Positives - Great location and views. - Fairly good price for Edinburgh at this time of year. - Good, fairly new bathroom with walk in shower (although regulating the temperature of the shower took a bit of sussing out and there was no shelf to put toiletries on). - Quiet. We weren't disturbed by a lot of noise either from inside the hotel or outside. Negatives - Very old and worn carpets in the rooms, although the carpet on the landings and stairs was being replaced during our stay so hopefully this will extend to the rooms too. - Quite a small double bed and right against wall, which isn't ideal if staying with a friend rather than a partner. - Bedside lamp with reading torch wasn't beside the bed but above the desk area by the window. This made it difficult to read in bed without having the overhead light on, which I hate doing when I'm in bed. - No mirror in the bedroom, so no place to do make up except the bathroom. I had to look in the television screen to dry my hair, which isn't ideal! - Television on wall next to the bed so not at a great angle to watch in bed. Not a problem for us as we never even switched it on, but might be an issue if you like to watch TV in your room. - No lift, but not an issue unless you have very heavy luggage. In summary, a good budget option, especially if you don't plan to spend much time in your room as was the case for us. Some of the issues we had weren't the same in every double room as we saw better ones while they were open for cleaning in the mornings. Maybe you could get one of these by messaging the hotel after booking?

“Good value for money, in a good area of Edinburgh”

My stay was enjoyable, hotel was good for a budget hotel. Room was nice and warm, well insulated, Location was great good transport links to city centre, a local around the corner, green space for walks, good hotel if you want something basic that's what's provided that what expectations should be. Facilities were good basic tea, coffee, and a good telly with good service for channels. Staff were friendly and informative and pleasant. My only concern is the daft that comes in though the front it is freezing so please close the front door for folk staying on first floor. Overall the Adelphi is a great hotel.
