I was wondering what it would be like to stay in a 12-person room with bunk beds for the first time, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable since I was on the bottom bunk. For breakfast, there were eggs available to be cooked. It's rare to find eggs at a hostel, so it was a valuable source of protein, which I greatly appreciated. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. The hostel is cheap and in a great location, so I shouldn’t ask for more, but I’ll mention a few inconvenient points. There are only two toilets and four shower rooms. Moreover, two of the showers were broken. There were 12 people in my room alone, and it's clearly too few. In fact, I often had to wait to use the toilet. There is a kitchen, but no microwave. There’s an oven that seems cumbersome to use, but if they had a cheap microwave, I could have warmed up some supermarket ready-made meals. You can cook in the kitchen, but considering the size, it could get very crowded in the evening, so I didn’t feel like cooking. The kitchen and the surrounding common area are too small. During breakfast time, it fills up in no time. Waiting to wash dishes is also necessary. The reception staff are always around, so it’s hard to relax. There are lockers in the room, but standard-sized padlocks might be too small to use. I brought two types, and one worked, which was good, but if it hadn't worked, I would have been charged for renting a key. When closing the room door, it makes a loud bang. If a considerate person closes it, they can do so quietly, but when people come in and out repeatedly while I’m trying to relax, the constant banging is quite stressful. Overall, everything feels cramped, and you will definitely feel some stress, so I wouldn’t recommend staying multiple nights. This is a place for people who seriously don’t have money and want to avoid camping out.
The property excelled in all aspects, from its prime location to the top-notch facilities and friendly staff. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the value for money was unbeatable. Overall, it was a fantastic stay.
I had the best stay at The Baxter Hostel. Location is quite perfect for tourists. It is near everything; the tourist spots, malls, transportstions. And for everyone on a budget. Every tourist spot is just walking distance from the hostel. The staff were very friendly and super nice except for Stephanie. She has to smile more. She asked me to leave the kitchen coz she has to clean. But I understand that. The room is quite spacious. I have no complaints at all. Free breakfast, coffeee anytime and tea. I just loved my stay there. Really nice hostel. Budget friendly. I wish they change the signage outside for the travellers to see the hostel better. It is dark and missed it first. But all good. So happy with my stay.
Great value for money. The location is excellent. Waverly Station It's located in an alley right across the street. It's perfect to come in for a break in the middle of your travels and then head back out. I stayed in a six-person female dormitory. Out of the four showers, two were broken, but there weren't many people waiting for the shower. Of course, there may be some competition for timing. You should keep in mind that the showers are small; it wasn't a big issue for me since I am small. There is a place to hang clothes in the shower, but no place to put your belongings, so you have to either put things in a plastic bag to hang up or bring only what you need inside and leave it on the floor, which obviously gets wet. The sink for brushing teeth and washing up is extremely small, but I made do with it. You can borrow a hairdryer for free. Surprisingly, the bed was very comfortable, and while the pillow was uncomfortable, it wasn't a big issue for me. I recommend that you bring your own earplugs and eye mask. You do have to pay to borrow a lock for the towel. Overall, I think for the price, value for money, and quality of this location, it's perfect for those looking to save on accommodation. The staff was friendly too. The breakfast was simple, and you have to do your own dishes. Anyway, I recommend it!!!

“Great people, location and free brekkie”
Amazing location, near some big tourist go-to spots like Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat. The new showers have good pressure, are clean and well maintained. Welcoming and helpful staff, and can't go wrong with the free eggs for breakfast (theres cereals, toast, jams, etc too). I stayed in the 12 bed dorm. The only improvement would be increased ventilation for fresher air, can get a bit warm. Unbeatable for the price, given free breakfast and location.
