The pool is pockmarked with missing tiles. The furniture has been ridden hard. The rooms need a new application of make-up. However, the old girl still has life left in her. The pool's water is clean and cool. The room's bed is just firm enough. The staff tends to the rooms well. Staying here saves money that is better spent on enjoying Kampot's many excellent restaurants, excursions, and activities, all of which are nearby, given that the Vibola is near the city center. The place has a great location but needs maintenance. The ground floor rooms are ok but the 2nd floor is very bad. The doors won't close unless you pull very hard. The front doors are in such bad shape you can see through them. A small child could kick the door in as the door frame is falling apart. The 2nd floor bathrooms stink because the drainage doesn't work properly. Getting your room serviced is a roll of the dice, often the cleaners don't show up for work. If you want a coffee in the morning good luck, no cups or glasses, you might get lucky for a kettle if you ask at the front desk. I believe there is only 1 kettle for all the rooms. Highly recommended that you bring your own kettle, cups and glasses, as well as some bug spray. After 4 days we had a large collection of cockroaches. I'm not going to mention the mosquitoes. You get what you pay for but this place is charging a high price for what you receive. If the owners spent some money on maintenance, the place would be great and would justify the price. Also, management needs to do something about the neighbour's yappy dogs barking all night and very early in the morning. I've asked many times but nothing is done. I do recommend the place but be aware of what you expect and what it is.
