Great value”

Clean, Comfortable, Cable TV

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel because it was very comfortable, there were movies playing all day on tv in English, the internet was the best we had anywhere in Myanmar, and the staff were very friendly. There is not a whole lot to do in Yangon for a week, so we spent a lot of time relaxing in the a/c room with little excursions out during the day. It seemed to be a very new place. The staff seemed to still be figuring everything out and weren't always quite sure what to do, but you can expect that in a country that has only recently become open to tourism and external standards. Breakfast is included but they don't have a lounge. They aren't very proficient at English, so when we asked where to get breakfast and what time, they communicated that they would bring it at 7am to our room. To not complicate things and confuse anyone, we just set our alarm for 6:50 every morning. Like I said, they are still figuring things out so I'm not hard on them. The elevator was always full of mosquitoes, so beware, but that was our only complaint.

good location, spacious and simple rooms”

location, room size, good TV selection

I arrived to the hotel at 615am, and shortly afterward one of the employees who was about to head up spotted me and, although we knew no common words or phrases, he explained to me that check-in is on the 12th floor and that I could go up. Nice guy. As I entered the lobby, the staff was waking up and getting ready for work. Check-in is 630am. This was a huge deal for me, as I had only one overnight option from Mandalay. So if your arrival is scheduled for the early AM (and I suppose most or all overnight bus rides are), then this early check-in can be helpful. Room is spacious, spartan, comfortable without luxury. Flat-screen TV, hotpot (but no coffee or tea, so if you want any you might bring some of your own). Bed is firm and comfortable. Shower waters gets hot right away. After checking in, I went outside and watched the neighborhood wake up, which was quite nice. There's a bus stop near by, so people from various walks arrive and depart. Lots of street vendors selling meat and produce, some food counters serving meals, a "bakery" that, while it does sell baked goods, seems to be mainly a Chinese/Thai cuisine restaurant. I had lunch there and it was decent and reasonably priced. A money exchange is down the road. It's a bright and busy area, not close to the main sightseeing attractions but not far either. As with anywhere within the city center, cab fare shouldn't cost more then K5,000.

rooms a little dirty, but convenient location”

the location, service was decent

We had flown into Yangon airport very late at night and checked into the hotel no problem. The staff was friendly enough, although our room was not very clean when we entered. There were dirty footprints all over the room and bathroom so we had them clean it again. There was a porch but no point in going outside because it was dirty outside. The bed was comfortable enough, and we only stayed here for one night so it was good value for money. The scariest thing was that the elevator got stuck with us and 3 locals inside the next morning. Out of nowhere the elevator completely shut down, it was pitch dark, no one could hear up. There was no emergency button or any intercom to talk to the outside. I was freaking out quite a bit, but luckily after about 10 minutes the elevator restarted and then it got stuck again. And when it restarted the second time, we managed to open the door and get out and opted to just walk down the stairs. The hotel lobby is on the 12th floor and the room was on 11th floor, so if you don't want to risk getting stuck, I suggest you walk the stairs just to be safe.

Satisfactory Stay”

I was looking for a budget accommodation in Yangon and booked this hostel as this was the cheapest option available in the city. I stayed at the dormitory and the cons were as follows: 1. Very cramped; four beds in a very small room. 2. The washroom had no door lock. 3. If you switch on the light of the washroom then u r visible from the room. 4. The dorm is on the 5th floor and there is no elevator. Rest all is fine. The staff is helpful and b'fast is sufficient. Nearest local train station is about 2 kms walk.

Good hotel, helpful staff”

Comfy bed, good location, friendly staff

We stayed here twice, as we passed through Yangon on our way to other parts of Myanmar. It was clean, hassle-free, and good value for the money by Myanmar stanadrds. We were particularly impressed by the beds - well above the standard we'd come to expect, and very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful although more used to arranging comfort packages for tourists than our somewhat more left-field backpacker requests ('are you sure you want to book this bus, its for locals and will be uncomfortable') - however we got there in the end and everything ran smoothly. The location in the eastern downtown area is great for exploring Yangon by foot, although its a bit of a schlep to Shwedagon Paya and you'll need a taxi. Recommended.

Reasonable hotel with nice bedding. ”

The room was spacious, bedding excellent and the staff tried really hard.

It's location is great for Sule Pagoda, Scott Market and the LP walking tour. It's very new and is not that easy to access independently. Fortunately there are helpful staff outside the large yellow building who will show you to the lift and where to go. Yangon hotels and guest houses in general are expensive so don't expect The Ritz but this is a good, functional hotel for an independent solo or couple travelling.

location, value, clean room

Bo Myat Tun's price compares favourably to other hotels in the area (Yangon is no longer a cheap place to stay). The entrance to the hotel is via a grotty lift to the 12th floor of a building (the rooms themselves are fine tho). Breakfast is poor and is served in the room as there is no restaurant area.

We need to go level 12 for reception and pass by a specific room to enter the lift and go down by stair to our room at level 10. Quite confusing at first. Outside our room always have a bunch of people. They standby when u check out to check the room so once u go down reception theres no lag time, amazingly sufficient. The hotel gives me impression of a single room flat and they made it a hotel. Decent stay with basic furniture. Breakfast is buffet style with eggs, corn, toasted bread, mee, porridge, orange juice and watermelon. Wifi is very strong, best places in myanmar. Even way better than airport.

The hotel was ok, not great. Good for one overnight in Yangon, close to attractions we wanted to see. The hotel building looked dirty and dingy from the outside, and you have to go into a kind of dark stairwell to take the elevator up to the lobby. The hotel is definitely nicer on the inside than on the outside, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I stayed there several times before. It's not the most centrally located hotel but given the sharp price increase in Yangon, it's good value for money. The staff is nice and the rooms are clean. Size of the room, good location, high floor

Given the ratings I saw so far, the BMT Hotel is rather around a 4.5 than 6.7. As said, well located, high floor (12th) and large rooms. AC works well, tiled floors but primitive and overaged (& dangerous) showers & Bathrooms. Room was not cleaned in 3 nights of stay, they are somewhat dirty but the beds are good and sheets clean. Service is below standard and staff not really welcoming. This place stays an ok deal for the prices in Yangon and its location but it's definitely not a 2 star hotel.
